In SL you're never too old to learn . . .

RenderShadowBiasError did not have much effect for me. However, setting RenderShadowBias to zero did noticeably help with improving the appearance of shadows beginning at my feet instead of a short space away. -
Why do I choose Second Life over Meta?
Randall Ahren replied to Heathcliff Harbrough's topic in General Discussion Forum
Just one main one, and a couple of niche sites with almost zero traffic. The power law applies to online activities; there is always one dominant site that monopolizes all the traffic. -

new year What will you do in 2022 ?
Randall Ahren replied to colleen Criss's topic in General Discussion Forum
Appear on Season 42 of Survivor (the US version) and win a million dollars. -
The important part is that you're getting paid, which is the point.

I agree completely. Christmas is the time for good will towards men.

Are we allowed to say that, or has it now become politically incorrect, like saying there are only two genders?
-
I like Fortnite.

I looked it up. It's called Cummingtonite. It's named after Cummington, Massachusetts, where it was discovered. Unobtanium sounds lonely. Why is Unobtanium your favorite element?
-
That's actually a molecule, which is composed of several different elements: magnesium, iron, silicon, oxygen and hydrogen. Unless you're splitting atoms, an element is like a prime number. You can't divide it.
-
I think we need to know more about you. Do you have any special skills or unusual hobbies? What's your favorite element? If you had to move to another country, which country would you move to?

Zuckerberg Comes for the Metaverse
Randall Ahren replied to Prokofy Neva's topic in General Discussion Forum
I can be a creator in SL and try to get the last two people left of the dying world to use my creations or go to a thriving new world where there will be thousands to use the creations. What's the point of creating if nobody will see or use it? VR is the new thing. Meta is doing what SL should have already done. -
Zuckerberg Comes for the Metaverse

Imagine being alive 500,000 years from now, and the luminosity of the sun has increased 2.5% because it's starting to burn more helium. The oceans are evaporating and the equator is an uninhabitable wasteland. A colony ship is leaving for another star system. Do you get on the ship or complain that the people at the new star system will not care one whit about you? That's where we're at in virtual world time. -
Zuckerberg Comes for the Metaverse
Randall Ahren replied to Prokofy Neva's topic in General Discussion Forum
Does it matter? This world is dying. Facebook is so committed to birthing the next word, it changed its name. That would be like a Linden tattooing SL Forever across her chest. Don't you want to feel that excitement again when SL was young and it felt like we we're building a new country and there was a real sense of community? -

You have to have an Oculus to get into Horizon Worlds? I might want to try that. They're looking for creators. -
Every dead body on Everest was once a person highly motivated to CLIMB A REALLY TALL MOUNTAIN. So maybe the lesson is to be selective about which motivations you indulge.

Solitude is mainly a problem in Second Life, not something to be sought after. Most areas are devoid of people, and when you do find a populated area, often avatars are standing around AFK while their operators are doing something in another window. What's rare and precious is to establish a fragile human connection in a vast and unfeeling metaverse.

Mr AnonyMoose Strikes Again

Thank you MAnonyMoose. I also received a gift. Now I must do my part to spread the holiday cheer. -
I said LAG, do you understand what I'm talking about?
Randall Ahren replied to Tama Suki's topic in General Discussion Forum
I prefer the term creator. Selling items is just something people do. Creative is something they are. -

SL is the best night out you can have at home.
