  1. Try this. 1. Click on speaker in Windows taskbar 2. Click on the up-arrow in what comes up from step 1. 3. Examine your options within "Select Audio Device" from step 2. 4. If you have more than one audio device in step 3, try them all. I'm not saying that this is your problem or a fix, but it might be. It has helped me before. I have a lot of audio devices.
  2. Rezzing a lot of coalesced objects at once sometimes fails because of all the scripts trying to initialize (run their on_rez routines http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/On_rez ). The free 100% solution is to file a support ticket and get a one-day pass to the region named something like Unpackistan (unsure of spelling), which exists with scripts turned off especially for this purpose. You may be able to get it to work at a sandbox, if the script initialization load is not too severe.
  3. You have to establish mesh-uploading privileges in the Beta Grid just like you did in the main grid. Once upon a time, I logged onto a Beta Grid web page, and re-took a quiz about intellectual property rights just like the one I had already taken on the main grid. Then, my mesh upload privileges were established for the Beta Grid. Thereafter, my Beta Grid mesh-upload privileges were forgotten (the Beta Grid forgets things), there was no way to get them re-established on a self-service basis. So, I filed a support ticket. Some human being checked that I had mesh-upload privileges on the main grid, and re-enabled my Beta Grid mesh-upload privileges. Your mileage may vary. Just file a support ticket, and they'll either take care of it on the back-end, or tell you what you have to do.
  4. Thanks for the number. It helped me find this for March 21, 2018. Was the first mention of the return of last names? I'm not sure.
  5. One can reduce the number of texture faces in Blender by a process called Baking. It involves you creating separate UV layouts for your Blender Objects, then joining them. Then applying their individual textures and UV Maps in the Node system. Then, you create a Bake_UV map for the joined objects, and Bake a new texture to the new UV map. Then, one texture spans all the objects that you joined. The same can be done in reverse. Search for the likely keywords on Youtube to find video examples.
  6. Well, for starters fix the last name nonsense. Everyone who has entered SL in the last 9 & 1/2 years wears a Resident badge that isn't exactly the greatest. Any club you join, you go through a period of establishing yourself. SL is special, in that if you joined in the last 9 & 1/2 you still wear a noob tag.
  7. I don't mind the IMs, except the ones that just say "hi." I have an autoresponder that says to go ahead and type your question; don't expect any response to "hi."
  8. Thank you for this article. The Myers Briggs personality test is pretty much meaningless. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/the-myers-briggs-personality-test-is-pretty-much-meaningless-9359770/
  9. I really can't tell the difference between the current and former Firestorm, unless someone is wearing BOM, in which the difference is obvious.
  10. Its used for the custom names program. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Custom_Name_Program The point is that all the technology is in place for last names in second life. Always has been. Its just turned off for new accounts.
  11. I use blender, but I am tempted to get substance painter for texturing. Its just so expensive, and doesn't save me enough time to justify the expense. If it goes on sale at the holidays, I'll probably pick up an substance painter subscription.
  12. Most annoying line: "Hey, let's go dancing at:"
  13. The best feature of Premium is the Premium sandboxes.
  14. I'm truly sorry that implementing the name-change functionality has taken so long to implement. Next summer will be the tenth anniversary of arbitrarily disabling last names. Ten years is long enough. If they can't get name-changes implemented by the tenth anniversary, I think they ought to just turn last names back on. I have a couple of alts with two years of prepaid premium, and hoping the name-change functionality arrives before my two years expires.
  15. I only know what they tell me. Here's a video time-tagged to the right spot.
  16. There was no reason to ever turn it off. They keep creating new last names in the Custom Name Program ( http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Custom_Name_Program ).
