Gah. Sorry. Posted by accident without saying anything. Thing is LL is not a bank and they don't do business like banks do. That's where you're getting your wires crossed. It is typical of all for profit businesses to deduct fees from the amount, not add the fee in on top. If they did that you would have to add more USD to your SL account to cover the fees. It's just the better way from a business and accounting POV to deduct the fees rather than calculate then add the fee on top. That's as simple an explanation I can give you on a forum.

No one said that is the way it should be. It's just the way it is. And as for accounting, that is my profession. It's not something easily understood by those who have not had the years of college classes and/or the hands on experience in learning. What you have been told is the way the accounting is done. If you want to know why it is done this way, be prepared to spend many hours with your accountant as they walk you through the whole process of how to keep books the legal way.

That isn't how it works. As a for instance, when you return an item to a store in RL and that store has a return fee policy (aka restock fee), the fee is deducted from the amount you paid for the item, not added to it. You do not get full price for the item. That's how it works when you cash out or, more accurately, withdraw cash from SL after converting it to USD. You get less because you are paying the fee out of the amount withdrawn, not on top off. LL is not a bank. Don't expect them to act like one, unless you want them to have to abide by the US federal banking regulations, which would not be a good thing for any of us.

The 60s and 70s were my parents, not me, yet according to "official" sources I'm considered a boomer. No, I am not a boomer. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. I wasn't even of legal age to vote until 1977. So all the things I get blamed for happened long before I could even vote. That crap needs to stop. I'm not even considered a part of the next so called generation. So those of us born late 50s/early 60s are the ones that fall through the cracks. The whole silent/boomer/millennial/gen x/gen y crap needs to stop. Those terms aren't even based on realistic generation time frames, which ideally should be about 20 years, not 30 or more since most people start having children when in their 20s, not 30s. The gap between my generation and my daughter's is 15 years.

Back when we owned/operated clubs in SL it was part of the host/hostess' job description to post the events they were hosting. As such they were paid for doing that by those that actually paid their staff like we did. It wasn't just tips. Nor did we take a cut of their tips as many (if not all) venues do now. Paying the host/hostess to post events is a business expense that was included in the salary/wages. Treat your employees well and you won't have a high turnover.

It's wrong to punish all basic accounts for something that both basic and premium accounts are guilty of. If LL is of the mind that charging basics more will push them to go premium, they're dead wrong. What it will do is push them out of SL. Maybe not right away but sooner or later they will get fed up with being punished for the acts of others and leave. The opposite effect of what they are wanting which is for everyone to go premium. That isn't going to happen either. It's as if businesses have completely overlooked the fact that money doesn't grow on trees in RL like it once did in SL. I could see 10Ls across the board for events and for recurring events a monthly charge at a discount, maybe based on the number of events per week. Anything over a certain number per week would have to pay the 10Ls per event. What would be a fair number? I would think somewhere around 14 - 21 per week. That's 2 - 3 events per day which should cover most events.
