  1. One sister-in-law did her best to keep me from getting the gift I wanted most... then my mom started stealing it from her so I could steal it back and SIL couldn't steal it again. 😇
  2. When did Cosmo start publishing in SL? How many issues have I missed!?
  3. Before my mom passed and everything went to hell, rather than gifts just for the underaged, we did the Dirty Santa thing. We didn't do the theme thing, just set a limit on cost. So you only needed to purchase one gift for an adult. Everyone draws a number from a hat (or bowl or basket) - numbered 1 through however many are participating. The person with #1 starts the game. Here's how it works: First person selects a gift from under the tree (after much thought and deliberation), opens it, and shows it to everyone. Second person can choose to steal #1's gift (aka "Dirty Santa") or pick from the pile. This continues with each person having the chance to steal or choose a wrapped gift. The stealing and scheming now begins to erupt along with lots of laughter. A gift can be stolen more than once but generally no more than 3 times and only once per turn. If your gift is stolen, you can't steal it right back. You have to steal another gift or choose from the pile. Don't forget about the awesome gifts that just may be hiding hoping you'll forget they're still in play! When there are no more wrapped gifts, typically the person who drew #1 is allowed one more turn. However, they can only steal a gift. If they choose not to steal and keep the one they have, the game is over. If they decide to steal then the game continues until someone wants to keep their gift. (Sometimes there were trades after the game was over. lol) One variation, each participant can only be stolen from three times at which point they are out of the game and the gift they're left holding is theirs to keep unless they want to steal or choose an unwrapped gift.
  4. April 2004 here. There are more of us oldbies still around than you might think. Personally, I have no interest in a mobile app for SL or PS4, XBox, or any of those. I've never had one in my home and never will.
  5. Add to that the ones that chop of the legs when part of the outfit are pants. If I can't see the full outfit, no sale.
  6. Ah ok. I wasn't sure which one had the nasal infection from the wording. As a child I used to get sinus infections, sometimes with fever, so I was a little confused. I'm glad they are both doing well. Give the dog a hug from me and the kidlet a pat on the head.
  7. This is why those particular four letters are censored. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/***** So I just use gobbledegoop instead.
  8. Wait... which one has the infection, the dog or the child?
  9. You'd probably get a better response (meaning places to play) if you were to post here: https://community.secondlife.com/forums/forum/312-inworld-employment/
  10. Sorry. Forgot to include this. Here's how: https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_contact_sets
  11. You could always file an FS Jira and see if it's doable. I don't think it would be but I'm not a dev. https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/file_a_jira https://jira.firestormviewer.org/secure/Signup!default.jspa
  12. Remember when Anshe went ballistic on the old forums because LL locked her account for non-payment? Fun times.
  13. It's sort of already there. I usually just use the "autoresponse to everyone". Mine says something about being out of order and if I find order in my life, I'll get back to you. Leave your message after the beep. BEEEEEP! *click*
  14. Some performers will change their tune about it, some won't. Those that won't will get left by the wayside. There is nothing wrong with creating a list with all performers for a day or a week. Consolidating is actually a good thing as it puts all the info in one place at one time and allows customers to plan ahead which could result in more profit/income. These days being able to plan ahead is extremely important for most people.
  15. I don't believe in destroying all of humanity for the "sins of the few". On the other hand, our Mother, the earth (or nature), doesn't "discriminate" either. Humans will face extinction at some point. That is inevitable. I just can't understand those who want to see that end during their own lifetimes.
  16. There is a distinct connection, Maddy, between climate change and politics. https://psmag.com/ideas/indigenous-knowledge-has-been-warning-us-about-climate-change-for-centuries That's how I feel today, how I felt yesterday and every day in my past. It's how I will feel tomorrow and every day for the rest of my life. There really are no words to describe having to watch the destruction of our only home on a daily basis through the actions (or inactions) of those who have ignored hundreds of years of warnings. I'm glad I won't be alive to see the colonization of Mars (the only hope for the survival of humans) end in its destruction as well. Too many are willfully blind to the fact that humans are the conductors of our own extinction. I'm already regretting posting this. It is what it is.
  17. This is also correct. https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-1099-misc
  18. Either way, many still can not afford it. It's not a matter of which is cheaper. It's a matter of not having that kind of cash to spare. There is a reason I spend the vast majority of my time in SL working rather than "playing". It's the only way I can afford to be in SL any more. If it hadn't been for Par offering me a job, I wouldn't still be here. I would have been gone shortly after I started logging in again last year because I can't afford to buy Ls any more and the 50L stipend old basic accounts get does not go far at all, especially when you can't log in every week, which, for those not aware or who have forgotten, you must log in at least once a week and be logged in for a minimum amount of time or you don't get the basic stipend.
  19. Putting this in here because I do expect that other thread to be locked. I stopped using Events to find things to do more than 10 years ago because of all the crap I had to sift through so I'm not completely opposed to the 10Ls. It's the 50Ls for basics that chaps my @$$. I get they want more premium accounts and why. I get they would prefer premiums to pay monthly as well. What I don't get is punishing those of us who can't afford premium. Especially in an age where phones and internet are no longer luxuries but necessities.
