  1. That sounds like a good note to end the night on. lol Good night.
  2. I'm aware of that. Prepaid debit cards can be used as well. https://gomedici.com/top-12-prepaid-debit-cards-available-in-europe-for-hassle-free-and-secure-cross-border-use/ You can also find a list of accepted cards here:
  3. No. They don't have to pay anything more until the extended sub runs out. If you look through the thread you'll see Grumpity's post clarifying how it works.
  4. All you need is a debit/prepaid debit card, If you don't plan on ever cashing out Paypal isn't needed. I don't have any credit cards. I've been using a debit card for years without any issues except one a long time ago and the problem was with LL's website, not the card.
  5. Invest? pfft I'd buy the damn thing lock, stock and barrel. Then really shake things up. 😈
  6. It's always the medical bills isn't it. All I can do is pray Medicaid will cover it. If not. Well. Bye.
  7. It's been years since I have used a card service but even so I can attest to how exorbitantly expensive those fees were then. I can imagine those fees have skyrocketed to the point of hurting business bad enough the service has to be dropped. Unfortunately, it's once again the customers that suffer the most since they no longer are able to use their normal form of payment and have to come up with another method. Which isn't always feasible or even possible. These days, I couldn't get a credit card if my life depended on it. I'm not joking either. I have zero credit. None. No credit cards. Just a debit card and a checking account with no fees.
  8. If you had read my other posts you'd know I do not want the hassel of cashing out. All I want to do is break even so I can afford to stay in SL. You'd also know that I have owned successful businesses in RL so you aren't telling me anything I haven't known for a few decades.
  9. It wouldn't be the first time LL would have done something not very intelligent. And I did say IF.
  10. What makes you say basics don't cover the costs of doing business in SL? Got anything to back that statement up with? I've owned and operated businesses in RL so I do know what it takes to run one and keep the doors open. I've also had a business in SL before and no one begrudged me being basic. I have to pay the same fees to LL for MP as premiums do, the same fees if I were to cash out, etc. And, unlike others, I do plan to have an inworld store again so I would be paying for the land even if it's indirectly. In the end LL still gets their cuts. So what it boils down to for you is if someone is of low or fixed income they shouldn't be allowed to have an SL. That may not be what you are thinking but that is the end result. You know what that is called? Discrimination. Which is illegal in the US.
  11. I completely agree. I never have understood LL's reasoning behind making people pay hundreds (if not thousands haven't looked in along time) of dollars just to get a sim going. There really has never been that many people that have that kind of cash to spare. Just imagine how full SL would be if they dropped the set up fee. It wouldn't make the land barons happy though and LL has always catered to them while the rest of us plebs struggle just to stay inworld.
  12. The set up fee has been the one thing that always kept me from getting a sim. There is no way I could ever afford it and pay for the first month. It has always been completely out of my reach, even when I was working full time.
  13. You might want to give it back. Lindal might need it before Saturday.
  14. Yes I know I've asked this before but I'm going to keep asking until I get an answer. What have I (or any basic account) ever done to anyone that I deserve to be punished and ostracized? Is everyone afraid I'm going to be that competitive? I'm not. All I want is to be able to pull in enough to cover my expenses. I'm not even looking to make any kind of profit. Just to be able to stay in SL and be able to pay for a place to live and work. Is that really too much to ask?
  15. Yep. Different strokes for different folks. What works for one won't necessarily work for another is what I usually say.
  16. I'm sorry Lindal but I have my doubts and I don't think anything you or anyone else can say will dispel those doubts. I've seen and had to much happen to have that much trust and faith in others. I firmly believe that there will be those who will refuse to lower their rates and still manage to stay viable. That's just how some humans are. I am more than happy to wait and see and be proven completely wrong. It would go a little ways towards restoring some trust and faith in others but I won't be the fully trusting person I once was ever again. The personal cost it too high. Thank you for trying. It means something to me.
  17. Potential being the keyword. There is no guarantee that any "land baron" will pass on any savings to their renters. That's the real issue. Many of them won't because they don't have to (or are just a bit greedy). That was always one of the biggest hypes for SL. Earn real money... making a living without ever leaving your real life home, etc etc etc. The problem with that is, not everyone can be an Anshe Chung.
  18. Excuse me. I've been in SL for a very long time. I know where to find good/high quality products at low(er) prices. Thank you for trying to help.
  19. I've always strongly disliked that. STO is that way and it's a major pain in my head when it's the only place I go that is like that. The rest I could get on board with but those things won't solve the immediate issue(s).
