  1. You can't reopen an account that has been deleted though. That is why LL does not actually delete accounts. Once they are gone, they are gone. LL does not reuse user names. I have never encountered any site that does. I've never heard of any game, website etc that does that. It's a very bad idea. For a number of reasons. Legal and security wise.
  2. I am glad they don't clear them out as well. I was gone for close to 5 years myself with the except of logging in once or twice for about 5 seconds in the first year or two. What with 3 deaths in the family (brother, father & MIL) during those years I just didn't have it in me to be in SL and deal with that and all the other bad things that were going on at the time. Things happen that we have no real control over that cause us to not log in for long periods, years even. I'm grateful LL does not simply remove accounts due to inactivity. I sincerely hope they never start.
  3. From my POV, while I wouldn't be thrilled with it, it would be disgruntling rather than a bitter horse pill to swallow. For a very long time now (even after we got the 42) I have been keeping my groups down to about 35 for two reasons. One, so that I would have the room to add more groups as needed and two, so that there is less of a strain on the system, however miniscule that may be. Cutting back to less than 35 would not be a happy making thing for me as I've been struggling to keep it under 42 since we got the 42. Personally, I really don't want more then the 42 because after a while it just gets to be too much.
  4. According to the link I posted just above your post: This has been LL's policy from day one. I don't think it will change.
  5. LL has given a grace period in which you can get your account back but if it's been longer than 90 days (I think it's a total of 90) then it is possible to get the account reopened but the inventory will be gone with the exception of the Library of course. If you just abandoned the account without requesting then the inventory may still be intact. May. It depends on long the account has been inactive. If it has been years then there is no guarantee inventory will be there. https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000135218-inactive-or-canceled-accounts
  6. I don't do events either. lol Doesn't the SLBD celebration last for a month? Or just a week? Bound to be more than just one day so that everyone who wants to go has the chance.
  7. The thread wants what the thread wants. Threads go off topic from time to time and as long as they don't stay off topic for too long, it's not a problem. It usually will swing back to the original topic on its own but sometimes the Lindens have to step in and remind. It's just the "nature of the beast".
  8. I don't go to SLBDs so I wouldn't have known. The bears have always been free. And since that only happens once a year the only other option is to ask a Linden, which they do encourage us to do.
  9. I don't know. I haven't asked for one... yet. Although I have the feeling it would look an awful lot like a mouse, ears and all. Lucky for you someone posted a pic a while back.
  10. You have to ask a Linden for their bear these days. If they have one they will give you a copy. Some will be copy/mod some will be copy/no mod. They are all no trans though. At least the few I've acquired are. Some are very prim heavy as well but still nice to put on display once in a while when you have the LI available.
  11. Only reason I thought of it was because I used to help people with it all the time when I was on the FS support team. I am reasonably certain that an avatar request feature isn't feasible when you take into consideration things like group backend issues and all the Jiras that have been waiting months and even years to be solved.
  12. I can't remember mine either. lol But that was the trial period anyway. We made new accounts when we decided we were going to join SL so we would have the same last names.
  13. Unless LL can completely cure avatar bake fails the Library is necessary in order to be able to fix your avatar because you may need to use one of the starters to fix the issue.
  14. I think you missed my point. I am aware of how difficult it can be to see things through another's eyes. It may encourage them but that does not mean they will actually do it. There will always be those who will not. As long as there are private estates as an alternative to mainland, mainland is going to suffer. LL knows this. One of the things that would help that situation is to "clean up" mainland by doing a bit of "landscaping" like they did back in the day to make it more attractive and visually appealing. Something a bit similar to what they've done with the new Linden homes but without the houses and fenced lots. Still, restricting the MP to premium only is discrimination. I recognize it for what it really is because I have to deal with it on a daily basis in real life. So yes, I stand by what I said. As long as the viewer is open source it won't be possible to put an end to "gleefur coffeepotters" as we used to call them . All LL can do is try to alleviate some of it and continue abiding by the law of DMCA.
  15. Ok So LL was playing favorites with the cakes back then. Not surprising. And as I said in my post above, I've never gotten one in 15 years. Not even when I was premium.
  16. In the 15 years I've been in SL I have never gotten one on any of my accounts, including when I was premium. Not a single one.
  17. I could almost guarantee (almost) the outcome would be in favor of what is already in the works. Frankly, enough of the premiums really don't care about others' needs or wants as long as they get what they want.
  18. Nope. I don't know where the former Vector Linden Is now. I'm pretty sure he didn't go back to work for Active Worlds as he did leave AW to work for LL. I lost track of him a few months after he left SL.
  19. One major problem with your idea. Many of the stores on the MP do not have an inworld store. So once again, basics would be ostracized/punished for not being able to afford premium. So many of you want SL to be just like RL...well... with the blatant discrimination that has been quite visible in the forums the past 2 days you've succeeded. Congratulations.
  20. That is still a few hundred dollars I can't afford and I'm not alone in that. There are many of us that would dearly love to "own" a sim/region but even at the new prices, we can NOT afford them. It is out of our financial reach. My point being LL would have more of an income if they dropped the price to something more people can afford. In other words, lower the mark up and make up for that with volume!
