I've never had issues with the alpha stuff with Lara until today. Or maybe it is an issue with the outfit's autohide feature, though I've not encountered that before either. However, this one outfit, every time I take it off, it is not restoring the alpha'd parts to visible. I cannot get them to restore myself by clicking the sections on the HUD multiple times. The only way I've been able to fix it so far is to relog. Frustrating, to say the least.

UGH - Altamura is giving away another free male mesh body and so the sim is packed and all I want to do is get my daily advent gift. While my Premium status lets me teleport in fairly easily, it is like moving through a tar pit.

As to issues in general, first place to check would be https://status.secondlifegrid.net/ Sometimes, if an issue is widespread, there will be posts in the forum about it, so no harm in asking here.

As to the second question: The only thing you can do wait for the creator and HAVE PATIENCE. Many creators have lives outside of SL, maybe a RL job during US working hours and cannot get online during the day. ALWAYS give a creator at least a full day to respond to issues.

If you can log into the forums, then you have your avatar login information -- same username and password. Or are you talking about something else? Your Secondlife viewer installation maybe? If so, you can simply download the viewer again and re-install it. Once logged in, your avatar and inventory will be exactly as you last left it.

Damn - and you managed time to play in SL and on the forums too. Impressive.

LL doesn't control the things that people can put us as Media here and thus folks could have some sort of media that is from sketchy site. Thus I will reiterate what has been said a few times -- do not let Media automatically play (or Music, for that matter) and only click on inworld Media when you are fairly sure you can trust the site. That should solve your issues.

Anti-virus programs in general are sometimes a pain with the whitelist stuff. I was proactive on my new system and just put the entire freakin SL and Firestorm folders in the whitelist.

True. When I did it I still had a lot of LI to play with so I wasn't concerned about the values jumping a bit. Though I suppose if something had managed to jump by many hundreds I would have been in trouble.

I lost interest in SL for a while. During that time, I reduced the size of my land drastically and change my alt accounts from Premium back to Basic. When I was ready to come back to SL, I changed the alt accounts back to Premium and started looking for larger land again.

In addition to what everyone has said about finding the LI of items and buying items with less LI, if an item is modifyable, you can SOMETIMES bring the LI down by changing a single prim in the linkset to 'Convex Hull'. You 'edit' the item and make note of the current Land Impact (see pictures below). Then click the box for 'Edit Linked', click any portion of the item and then change the "Physics Shape Type" from 'Prim' to 'Convex Hull'. IF the Land Impact value goes lower, you can close the edit window and you've reduced you LI usage. IF the number goes up - it sometimes does - change the piece back to 'Prim'. You can try changing different link pieces but if it still doesn't lower anything, then you are simply stuck with the original LI of the item. I was able to reduce my LI usage by a bit over 100 with this trick - which will work until I find replacement items with lower LI that I like.

If you tend to run lots of things at the same time as SL (email client, browsers, picture editing software, etc..), opt for the 16 GB if you can afford it. Prior to my memory upgrade, I often noticed things bogging down if had too many things going on at once. I don't notice any degradation now though.

I spent quite a bit of time last night trying to figure out why that pose annimation did not make my hand/fingers look like the one in the ad photo - I never did figure it out before frustration took over and I just simply took the picture. It wasn't until this morning when I saw a few more photos using that pose and then played around a bit inworld, that I finally figured out that I need to separately, and on my own, annimate my hands using either my Lara HUD or a separate hand pose. DUH For a gal that has been in SL for a decade, I am sometimes quite dense on things. Maybe it was just too late last night and I had already been inworld too long to think rationally.

Pretty much the entire last week has been odd for me. I have been getting stuck in annimation off & on - usually when I switch from fly to hover, then suddenly my avatar is back in fly position even though I'm not moving. Or I'll TP somewhere and only see 1/4 - 1/2 the objects and hanging around for many minutes doesn't change the scene. Yet, I have figured out that if I land and nothing is rezzing, I literally only need to TP home and back and within 1-2 seconds the entire scene is there. None of this normal for my SL experience - almost every place I go will typically fully rez within a couple of seconds. I've been writing it off as a combination of overloaded internet during the holiday season, possibly higher than normal usage of SL during the holiday season (gift buying/giving, advent calendars, higher than usual number of events & hunts), and many places having a lot more than usual amount of laggy type holiday decorations. I've assumed that whatever is going on will go back to normal after the new year, if not before. ETA: My assumptions might be correct. I was on early this morning - US time - and was able to pop all over the grid without encountering any of the issues that I've been experiencing latest. Avi never stuck in an annimation and everything everywhere rezzed pretty much instantly.
