  1. But I predicted this effect on November 5. It just seemed very likely that it would happen. and it went up to 253 before it settled a bit. I was thinking it would lead to a short term shortage of L$ after the sell off but it's not going lower than 250, so new orders are now going in at the new price of 250 and it's staying there. Maybe only LL can move it back to 247.
  2. Self control or if not then medication. Gosh, I remember when I used to get all wound up about things.
  3. Now we have the higher credit process fee and we have a lower L$ value. The L$/US$ went up with people selling before the fee increase, and it's not coming back down. I still think that a stable exchange rate needs LL intervention, which isn't happening this time.
  4. Inworld and MP are about 50/50 for me. None of the others apply.
  5. Is this based on fact? I have seen so many 1 star reviews because people are annoyed an item is no mod. I really believe consumers do care. I remember in my very first year I bought a ring with full bright on, and it was no mod. I loved the ring, the creator didn't respond to a request for one without full bright. I also had a pair of jeans around the same time, and I wanted to wear them with boots, but I couldn't shorten them because it was no mod. In this case the creator did give me a mod version. But my point is we are talking about everything here, and you need to look beyond just furniture to get the whole picture of the inconveniences it can cause. I'm sure almost everyone has had these inconvenient experiences with no mod at one time or another.
  6. Just as no copy items such as plants (if you want more you buy more) became unpopular, and these merchants quickly learnt that to compete you need to make your plants copy, so I think no mod is being squeezed out too. As Pamela said, demand will dictate. And threads like this are useful. There may be some no mod creators who have learnt from it.
  7. I don't think customers are making the choice to buy no mod. They are making the choice to buy the item because they like it and want it, and then they (disappointedly) just accept and put up with it being no mod.
  8. I wouldn't put that in my license agreement. I would lose almost all my customers. It's only ever a suggestion. I have found that more permissions more customers, and that's what it's all about.
  9. I do agree with the copy mod case, but maybe I've been a bit of a hypocrite with my customers in this sense - I sell full perm plants, so someone buys several of these plants and then links them together and sells them as a new item, a pretty garden display, copy mod. As copy mod these can be unlinked by the next owner and then they have several of my plants at a very cheap price per plant. It's not a major concern for me but it does compete with my selling these same plants as copy mod at a much higher price per plant than would come from the unlinked display. So, I have suggested that these displays get sold as no mod. It's a very tricky business, selling full perm. But I can see how people would get annoyed that they can't unlink the display and access the individual plants. So, I don't know. Just my 2 cents. But I must say I have enjoyed some of the arguments in this thread, particularly these wise and original, and very well thought out statements: Another argument I really love when someone's not happy about something in SL, is telling them 'If you don't like it then leave' Next time people are upset about a raise in fees or anything else at all, I'm going to cleverly use that top argument there, the one about 'b*tch and moan all you want, you don't set the rules.' That's all I'll ever need.
  10. Under grid status it says Second Life Regions Operational. And this is more than slow, it's crashing.
  11. not only can't log in but I crashed out
  12. Very interesting. It's almost too late to sell before the fee increase, but the momentum is there, and now we could start seeing panic sellers. Personally, I'm holding.
  13. Here we go, It's above L$250 It's been trending up for a few weeks with people selling before Jan 3. At this rate sellers may be better off waiting, because there may be a short term drop in L$ supply after this sell-off, and maybe we'll even see L$245.
  14. For whatever reason, all the items in that store are now gone. Perhaps it's due to this thread, and if so then Yasojith has achieved that goal. Posting about this type of activity is not a waste of time. Edit: They may pop up under another name, and hopefully someone will post here again to expose it. It's a tool we have when feeling powerless.
  15. I just had a look, and anyone who buys an item from this store only has themselves to blame. I had a look at the reviews, and I don't think LL would remove these reviews because they are based on the item. Maybe the insults should have been cooled down a bit, but most of the reviews wouldn't be removed. So, there are sufficient warnings, and a fool and his money applies.
  16. At least at the moment you have the reviews as a warning, but if the seller flagged the reviews as defamation then LL would remove them, thus leaving no warning for potential customers.
  17. I Wow, people like living in those boxes?
  18. So, 5 star reviews within a short period of time can happen for various reasons:- your loyal customers/fans buying a new item and loving you no matter what; it could be in return for a discount/gift; or it could be 'fake'. In my eyes, and when deciding whether to buy based on reviews, I see all 3 reasons the same. Many 5 star reviews within a short period of time sets off a warning. But I'd never flag an item based on 'fake ' reviews because you just don't know.
  19. There is an easy way to report it. Flag the review, choose 'Inappropriate Review', and then choose ' Review by alt of seller'. LL will check to see if this is really the case. You don't have proof though, but they will probably investigate it anyway, because nobody would have proof unless you actually know the seller. But that is one of their options, and meant to be used.
  20. It would be useful if Dakota responded, as she often does.
  21. I got a one star review saying 'not rezzing....these objects are corrupt'. I must have sold 100s of copies of these hedges (under Reid Parkin). Only today I sold 4 copies, and this is the only customer who found they did not rez for him. I also have the same items with the same textures rezzed inworld, and today I rezzed them again and they are fine. This seems to be a personal problem/glitch for this buyer only. I want to flag the review but the options for flagging are very limited and some are just useless: Inappropriate review review by direct competitor. (The direct competitor would use an alt, which you can only suspect, not prove) review by alt of seller. (Again you can only suspect this) review contains chat log (only useful one in this category) So, inappropriate review doesn't help my case. Off Topic Reporting failed delivery Issues already noted in item description Resized mesh item increases land impact All 3 are very useful but the list is too limited for the numerous issues beyond the control of the creator/seller, such as in my case - personal rezzing issues perhaps due to the buyer's computer problems. And then the other categories are for hate speech and advertising, which also don't help me The way the flagging system has been redesigned is making it much harder to flag unfair reviews. It needs more options, and not such specific ones. The options should be more general so that it includes various situations. Edit to Update: After contacting the customer he got back to me saying the hedges were working fine now. He didn't remove the review until I prompted him to do so.
  22. You can't get negative reviews removed without a very good reason, like profanity, defamation, false or irrelevant information, etc. These types of negative reviews don't help anyone, and therefore it's quite justifiable to have them removed. 'Seller is an idiot' - do I get this removed or should I be transparent?
  23. As a merchant I'm more concerned about the LindeX daily market volume rather than population size. The market data shows that L$ volume has been very stable over the past 10 years, therefore if the population is decreasing then individuals must be spending more.
  24. I just needed to clear cache history, and now I can see 3 months. This may come in useful since I stopped downloading and keeping sales records about a year ago.
  25. I'm premium, and I don't see any change in my L$ transaction history. Still just 32 days. Nothing before this can be selected. Although at the top it says 3 months but it doesn't work for me.
