  1. coming soon to a marketplace near you
  2. This thread is worth re-reading. It's a good example of how often people will oppose and debate an issue when someone doesn't like a rule or fee change etc., or when it goes against the system/ status quo. These people will present no real argument. Most will simply say 'if you don't like it then leave, those are the rules, like it or lump it', or point you to the rule again. Because so many just can't or won't think for themselves - blind faith. It just recalls for me those times I have argued here on issues that were important to me. Just because it is so doesn't mean it has to be, or that it makes sense. EntityOx was right. Also, it's good to know we have a voice here and we should continue to use it, because LL are listening. Even when you have to put up with strong opposition and even rudeness, have your say.
  3. I did go back and search through all the posts, but found nothing. Perhaps you saw it somewhere else. Maybe you did mean to say it in a polite way, and it would have been appropriate if someone had actually said ' Either you take away your fees or I will Leave'. This would be a threat, and silly. But anyway, I thought your other post was helpful, and it was the way the thread should have gone. And I do agree that cheaper land may help the economy.
  4. Blush I think Autumn put it very well here. This is all we were doing. Not threatening to leave or trying to make LL bow under pressure. So, I think it's just in the way something is expressed. saying it like 'if you think threatening to leave because you don't like Linden Lab's restructuring plans for their business model is going to impact their decision, you are fooling yourself. If you leave there will be others to take your place in a heartbeat.' I think it does tend to get people's back up, because it isn't what we were doing at all.
  5. what does that mean exactly? can you give a hint what kind of adaptation that would take? Do you mean that it will become more profitable to be a landlord, so this is what we should do if we want to keep making a living in SL - become a landlord? I'd like to know too, You see, this is discussion .
  6. Listen yes, nobody is making them bow down under pressure, and I don't know where you get that from - nobody here has threatened to leave, I'm not leaving. Show me where I or anyone else is trying to make them bow down under pressure. And the fee increases haven't been introduced here either - my point is clear. If they are willing to listen then my point is, they are flexible enough to change a plan. so there you go
  7. Here's an interesting fact, (and I hope Blush is still around to read this) in Sansar they introduced a Marketplace fee of $10 a month for anyone with more than 100 listings. Well, at that stage I had about 400 listings (since you couldn't list packs or groups of items). I didn't feel this was fair because 1. I didn't think I would always make $10 a month, and 2. I had already spent 6 months listing those items without being aware that a fee might come (work wasted). I was very vocal about it, even appealing to LL, but I was told no. I also put up with many troll type responses on the chat site from those who weren't feeling the impact. Many people (like me) just stopped listing new items, and of course walked away from Sansar. Long story short - LL dropped the fee. And this proves that some of the statements made here by the other side are just not true.
  8. You're accusing her of something she didn't say in a very put down manner. So, your post is contradictory. You are putting her in her place, and then saying she should be allowed to voice her concerns
  9. Linden Lab will also consider the impact these changes will have on its survival, how it will affect its users. I think they remember quite clearly the great exodus after the Homestead tier huge percentage increase. How users feel is important - not to be dismissed. It depends on the impact. She may not be alone. You don't know how many others may not tolerate too many fee increases. We just don't know. Amd as I said before LL will be careful. They know they have to be. They'll need to monitor each change, as they said they would. And people should express their views - that's important too.
  10. But but wait, there are people who are obviously enjoying it. Take Alwin for instance, what else would he have to do? And then there is Solar Legion having a good old laugh. And then there are the ones who just want to talk about it in a clique of like minded individuals, feeling the love and support. And you want to spoil it all, telling us to stop it, like some old school teacher.
  11. Psychological projection: a person who is habitually arrogant may constantly accuse other people of being arrogant.....for example bragging about withdrawing L$180.00 worth of escort tips to uds yes, unfortunately I see the quotes
  12. The ignore button is the best thing ever, shame it doesn't apply to quotes as well
  13. I wonder if these fee defenders have ever thought that this might have something to do with it. Where did/does the money to support Sansar come from? If the fee increases are being channeled that way, how many people would be happy about it? We don't know, but we should be happy to pay more and more?
  14. And this was in Australia. At work when I mentioned Second Life everyone knew it. It was even blocked from our internet usage at work, along with other social media sites. Twitter came up as well, and I remember thinking what is Twitter?
  15. Everyone I knew did. It was well known in 2007
  16. The thing that some people don't seem to want to acknowledge is that, even in rl, when a fee is raised by a high percentage again and again over a short period of time (and even over a long period), the level of tolerance will decrease, even for the fee lovers. And this has been the case here. It's not about fees, it's about the threat to profit. It's a fine line, and I will give LL credit for being aware of the fine line. They would understand that the platform needs creators who are prepared to put in many many hours of work for little return because of the profit incentive - take that away and where would we be? And we should let LL know that, for some creators (who knows how many) our level of tolerance is being reached. I think LL would find that important information. Because they are treading a fine line.
  17. Some of us spend our time creating and that's our big thing, and we make some money out of it, while others spend their time scanning the forums for opportunities to be negative. And I'm not mentioning names so this isn't aimed at anyone, so if you see yourself in this post then.....ask yourself why, why do I think this describes me?
  18. In major fraud cases, like yours, I believe LL should get involved. There should be some protection when it comes to this type of money. As the owners of the platform I think they should investigate and take some responsibility for major inworld fraud. Otherwise, it makes cybercrime way too easy in SL, as they know their victims will have no support. Something rings wrong to me there. The whole world takes cybercrime very very seriously, so why not SL?
  19. @ColeB126, I care. in your case, as a customer you are definitely right. And you are also right NOT to do business with anyone who says differently. 300k is a lot of money, and for that you should expect fantastic customer service. You dealt with the wrong person. It's unfortunate. But this is SL, and these people exist everywhere. I have never understood the attitudes of some people, and the lack of empathy. Empathy is my favourite word.
  20. Is this a win for me? Let me evaluate the situation. I increased my mainland parcel by 4096 - double what I had, at $5 more a month. My rent on my homestead is L2000 less a month, about $8. So I'm saving $3 a month. I have a bit more land (4096 mainland), which is now being threatened by parcels for sale on the abandoned land right next to me, due to lower prices, and this will make it less attractive for me. I predict a bright hideous building in full bright coming soon. Sales are about the same, so what have I gained here? The extra land is nice, for now. The thing about mainland is that it's only as good as your neighbours.
  21. When listing an item on MP you go into edit listing and then set price. You don't put the price on the box, unless you are selling inworld.
  22. I have a long list too, gathered over the years, but I'm too afraid now to mention any of them because it's come to this - more MP features = Fee increase. And I prefer to save as much money as I can. I know some people don't like hearing it, but there it is :(. And it should be noted as the opinion of many, not just some.
  23. This ^ I enjoy teaching my customers, and engaging with them etc., but it is an assumed part of the job, and not an easy part because it can pull you away from what you are working on and take away valuable time. And as Pamela said, it is not taken into consideration when LL increase our fees. I don't believe they are aware of how hard merchants work.
  24. OK, thank you for explaining how simple it is. I'll keep reminding myself of that next time a customer asks me something like how do I make my item bigger. It's my job to explain it to them, how to select stretch texture and how to select edit link/unlink. I'll remember how simple it is. Thank you
