  1. Picks are now largely meaningless for the search rankings (thankfully, in my opinion!) As for ordering your picks in your profile, they sort alphabetically (at least they do in V2 anyway) so what I do is just add numbering to the start of each pick to get them in the order i want. e.g. '01 About Me' '02 My Store' '03 Friends' etc
  2. There's no anonimity on the Marketplace. Look at the buyer \ reviewers name and search for it inworld and it will come up. If you are using an onlder 1.xx based viewer though, you might have to add the surname or 'Resident' to the search. If you are using an older 1.xx based viewer I'd strongly suggest to start to look at a 2.xx based viewer though (the official one or a TPV using 2.xx code, such as Phoenix Firestorm - it doesn't matter). I say this not as some 'viewer wars' comment - merely because very soon 1.xx based viewers will become largely unusable, particularly when Mesh arrives. 2.xx viewers make this particular issue easier to deal with too - there's none of this pain in the neck 'Resident' surname thing required in them

Under the current regime, it just takes three or four dishonest residents to 'group AR' an individual to remove him or her from the grid. I'm willing to bet 100L that the majority of these AR cases involve a verbal argument or a difference of opinion. It might be clear to you, but it isn't to me. 100 people could group AR someone, but LL should still check relevant facts, chat logs (which they have access to the originals of) etc. No-one should be removed from the grid without sufficient evidence and, despite many claims, I've yet to see any hard evidence of this actually happening. Sure, I bet the occassional mistake is made, but I've never seen hard evidence of widespread banning without reason. If you can provide conclusive proof that LL have banned people just on the say so of a few people without checking facts, then you'll have my attention (incidentally, just as the say so of a few people isn't reason for LL to ban, the say so a a few people isn't evidence that it happens either! :smileywink: ) Also, 100L isn't much of a bet is it? That's like ... what? ... a couple of cents! :smileytongue: You are possibly right though, a fair proportion of "verbal abuse" ARs probably are frivolous and just a result of silly disagreements. I've not seen any hard evidence to show that LL act on such frivolous ARs though. I'm pretty sure they just ignore them when it becomes obvious its just a frivolous argument (and rightly so). The problem lies not so much with the AR system itself, but with the way people use it. If people didn't file frivolous ARs, LL wouldn't have to wade through them all to address the more serious ones. However, removing AR types is not the answer. Somehow trying to get people to use the AR system properly is the answer. "Verbal Abuse" should not be removed because serious verbal abuse (e.g. racial abuse) absolutely should be addressed harshly.
  4. I have to confess to having missed the use of SUPERABUNDANCE as a word, and it's mildly amusing to see it back! That is all I have to say on the matter! :smileyindifferent:

  6. I just saw someone with the name Annachronism elsewhere on the forums, which I though was quite a clever name.
  7. Contact the people you bought them off and ask if you can get a refund, but be very prepared to be told "no chance!" unless you have a good reason. Most merchants are unlikely to accept "because I'm short on L$" as a good reason. (It would be nice if we lived in a world where we could get a refund on old stuff once we get bored of it, but we don't because that would pretty much see the collapse of capitalism! :smileysurprised:) How do we address such things in RL? We sell old items second hand. The good news is you can do the same in SL (if the items have transfer permissions). You can list them in the "used items" category on the marketplace, or you could have a yard sale inworld (but you'll need land to host it on).

  11. So, here's the thing ... After a deep and meaningful the other day with my mately Maia about how we hadn't had done something completely daft in SL for ages, it was decided that I needed to explore SL with a beard and excess body hair. So I am .... and, frankly, I'm still managing to make it look sexy even if I do say so myself! P.S. I hope my creeping bum hair is safe from the moderators! P.P.S. If you find this disturbing, you should see me in real life where my beard is full of cheese crumbs and my boobs are so hairy they look like coconuts! :matte-motes-wink-tongue:

Apparently, it's just called "The Football Pools" since 2007 after they merged with two other companies, and are now only offered online. I do remember 'The Pools Man' coming round to collect our money when I was a little kid though. Random, irrelevant factoid! :smileyvery-happy:

It may not be exactly like any of the TV/Film?Scifi folk have envisioned it - but I do believe that some day space, the universe and everything will be much 'smaller' and more accessible than we can ever truly imagine. Pity I won't be around to see that. Indeed, and we are learning every day. A new type of supernova was recently discovered, for example: http://smithsonianscience.org/2011/04/new-type-of-exploding-star-discovered/ It's fascinating stuff and I've always kinda wished I was smart enough to be an astrophysicist! One day, it is them who will bring humanity to a true understanding of our place in the universe. I wish I could be around to see that momentous day too, because it should finally bring to an end some of the more ... fanatstical ... beliefs people hold about our place in the universe. Beliefs that are, generally speaking, at the root of much that is wrong with humanity and holds it back. (I tried to say that as uncontroversially as I could ... did I suceed?!) :smileywink:

" Nothing in these listings violated any of the terms, and the description was not misleading. Can someone tell me how it is determined that something will be removed? is this what happens when a user flags an item? This is incredibly annoying because it won't even let me easily relist or edit the description. I'd advise you read this thread: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Merchants/Why-does-SL-de-list-from-the-Market-Place/td-p/871081 Paying particular attention to the replies from Dakota Linden with useful information on how the flagging / delisting process works, and how to fix issues if you item has been delisted. There is some debate surronding this, sometimes heated, so it's up to you which sides of the debate on this you believe. In short though, if you want to get it sorted, the best thing to do is to probably have a look at the 'official' word from Dakota and take it from there, which probably means submitting a ticket asking for clarification on where you should list the item. Once you get that confirmation you can get it relisted in a category that has been directly suggested by LL and therefore hopefully not have to worry about it again

I'm not disputing that it was obviously a joke just saying that Cio has a point. :smileywink: Well all I can say to that is that, personally, if it had been a guys profile with essentially the same thing that isn't attacking anyone directly but making light of a certain aspect of SL, and then commenting about the fact that someone is bound to take it seriously, I'd still find in bloody funny! :smileyvery-happy:

  17. "I don't quite know if this works, but some stores - probably most of them - have redilivery terminals. You could try to find one for the store you bought the items at, and see if you can use it. (I don't know if there is a connection between what is bought on the marketplace and what is available in the redilivery terminals)" Unfortunately, that won't work for Marketplace purchases. Such redelivery terminals are available for inworld purchases from merchants who use scripted vendor systems, but not for the Marketplace. There are obvious benefits to such a setup. However, there are downsides too. There's lag issues associated with heavily scripted vendor and redilvery systems. They are also not used by all merchants as, if they sell their items with transfer permissions, there is the risk of abuse with someone requesting redelivery to get a free extra copy to resell \ give away. Having said all that, it really would be nice for some system to ease failed delivery issue on the marketplace. Perhaps a simple "request redelivery" button on purchase history that sent a request to the merchant who could then redeliver if necessary after checking it is a valid request?
  18. Odd! This doesn't answer your question, but might help narrow it down. It's ok for me with Chrome on the same page, so not a browser issue or particular issue with that page I don't think. I have no idea what it could be though! I guess the implication is that there was something else on the page for you that was insecure that wasn't on the page for me?! The only thing that could be different though is the people in the friends list I think?! :matte-motes-confused:

As far as I recall, this was discussed in at least one CTUG meeting, and was probably also posted in Storm's category consolidation thread. - Luc - Fashion should be under 'people' Clothing, on the other hand should be under 'Content Creation' (at least in my humble opinion it should anyway).
  25. Different people have always have different concerns about attitudes, moderation, style etc of forums, be they official ones or third-party ones. I've occassionally (and somewhat foolishly) allowed myself to get into heated debates about why one forum might or might not be better than another. These days though, I'm happy just making my choice of where I want to post and letting others do the same, just as I am with things viewer choice or even virtual world choice. I'm so past "my [insert preferred product or service here] is better than your [insert less preferred product or service here]" arguments. Live and let live! :matte-motes-sunglasses-3:
