  1. Darn you Magnus! Now I'm going to have to go wattch all 13 episodes because that was hilarious! :smileyvery-happy:
  2. For whatever it's worth, the Viewer 1 vs Viewer 2 debate breaking out here is laregely pointless. V1 will be going soon and, whatever people think of Viewer 2, it would be a good idea to get used to Viewer 2 now (either official or TPV version) I'd strongly recommened anyone still using Viewer 1 to read and absorb this: http://blog.nalates.net/2011/05/11/the-sl-world-is-about-to-change/ And Kirsten's appeal to Viewer 1 users here: http://www.kirstensviewer.com/Blog/166/__World_in_my_eyes..._S21(7)_Release.__.html
  3. Venus Petrov wrote: What I find amusing is that LL emphasize this is a PG-rated area but when their standard viewer was updated to provide the bouncy breast option plus more, they did all they could do to market it (youtube vids, blog post, etc). /me laughs The natural laws of physics are PG (well, actually, they are Universal!) so I don't see what the issue is. There's quite a difference between discussing the perfectly PG subject of physics (even using the perfectly PG word 'breast') versus showing, for example, exposed breasts which is not considered PG (which I'm not saying I entirely agree with, but that's a whole other political and social debate!)
  4. Do you like cheese? 1. Yes 2. OMFG YES! I have a 'When Harry Met Sally' cafe moment every time I eat it! 3. Can't vote. Too busy eating cheese. 4. My name is Suella. You might as well be asking me whether the pope is Catholic! 5. No. I'm a heathen!
  5. Very good question Wade, and one I'd quite like to know the answer to as well (along with whether the advertising site will be more fully integrated with the rest of SL site, including single sign on).
  6. Peewee Musytari wrote: One of my recent favourites is this JIRA: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-6691 I'd forgotten about that JIRA. It really cracks me up! I mean - I know we're not supposed to abuse the JIRA, but as a one off it's really funny. Especially given that just about everyone has maintained faux seriousness throughout and even a Linden chimed in.
  7. Oh, we musn't forget the classics that are Man vs Second Life and it's sequel of course! I nearly choked laughing at the "Second Life is not a game. It's an online social experience" - "Your mom is an online social experience" exchange from Man vs Second Life 2!
  8. Oh yes, I should have posted a link It's right here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/T-Junction-Me-You-like-this/1232313 Be sure to check out the rest of the store as they have lots of really funny tees. As well as the store listings for Kalli Serevi also check out Lauren Bisiani's listings as it looks like they jointly run the store and share the listings. There are so many of them that I want to buy so, rather than spending a fortune in oen go, I'm going to buy a new one each week to match my mood (P.S. Word of caution to anyone following the link. Some of the tees are a little naughty and there are swear words. So don't visit if you are easily offended!)
  9. Ha! Love the webpage! I have no idea where it's from though. I'm assuming it was on some sort of parody site like 'The Onion' or something?! This is not exactly an SL joke, but it is kind of is a joke based on some 'issues' people have with Facebook and it's relation to SL. I'm actually not a huge fan of Facebook, but I don't mind the links to SL profiles etc for those who want to use them. Anyway, on that subject, I was browsing the Marketplace recently and found a store with lots of amusing T-Shirts. This one in particular took my fancy: Given that some people love Facebook style 'liking' and some hate it with a passion, I figured wearing this in SL would provoke some interesting and mixed reactions!
  10. Thanks for the update Brooke One quick question for you to confirm please. When you say that the DD beta testers will be reviewing the FAQ 'which will be posted mid-May', does that mean the FAQ will be available for us all to read in mid-May? I'm really looking forward to DD and am keen to read up on it as soon as possible (I didn't apply for the beta becuase I knew I'd be quite busy and wouldn't be able to dedicate much time to it).
  11. We don't have merchant IDs as such on the new Marketplace. We have 'Store IDs'. If you go to the Marketplace then 'My Marketplace' > 'My Store', your store ID will be at the end of the URL in your browser. E.G. My store is: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/20 (so my store ID is 20) Side note for future reference: This would probably have been better asked in the Answers section (and may get moved there) as this forum is intended for feedback on the forums, blogs etc (which is an ongoing debate! )
  12. Willow Danube wrote: Oh,Dear Mary & Joseph...!!! If the settings are viewer based like what it was before... I beg you people please do not make my avatar sway, jiggle and wiggle like Marigold's video!! If it looks painful to you its because it is .. :smileysurprised: :smileyvery-happy: Worry yee not my lovely little jiggling Willow! If you don't enable physics yourself, no-one else can see you jiggling, even if they themselves have physics enabled. You are in full control and can set how you want physics to work, or not at all, and this is how others who have it enabled will see you. Having said that I'd still put a big plea out for people to please, please, please have realistic settings. I quite like having physics enabled (simply because it adds another layer of realism to SL) but I so hope it doesn't mean I'm going to have to witness hugely unnatural, over inflated body parts swirling around and causing small tornados! (Who am I kidding? That's exactly what we are going to have to witness isn't it?!) :smileysurprised: :smileytongue:
  13. Just wanted to add my big thumbs up for the new search features. They rock more than a rock band sitting in a rocking chair perched on a big rock while eating rock in Blackpool! :smileyhappy:
  14. Thanks Jenni - just the sort of thing I was hoping for. I knew someone would have done some research:) Jenni Darkwatch wrote: I really wish some Torley...er... Linden lab employee would make a good guide on that one, explaining EXACTLY what the sliders do ~g~ I'm kinda hoping thats on Torley's ... er ... an LL employee's 'to do list'!
  15. I think the problem with the 'principal male anatomical feature' is that technical limitations mean physics can't act on attachments, only the avatar itself. The same problem exists if females have 'attachments' on any of their 'parts'! @Emma - thanks for those settigns @Mari - LOL - fun vid! Thats kinda how I was after playing with the settings this morning. Any passsers by would have been knocked out!
  16. Ian Undercroft wrote: I have an additional question. I'm running a viewer with avatar physics and yet cannot find the function. Is it the case that it's particular to the female body shape? Is it a "no no" for male avatars to wobble, ripple and sway? Are you using the latest Viewer 2? If so you need to create a new clothing layer (New clothes > New physics). Wear it, then right click and edit it to alter the physics. Not sure how well it will work on guys. There are sliders for breasts, belly and butt so you should be able to get some level of realistic physics for guys from that (especially if you have moobs! :smileyvery-happy:) If it's in a TPV I'm not sure how the physics works in those though.
  17. I know what you are thinking! You are thinking, "Oh cool! Suella has started a thread with some cool advice on the settings for the sliders in the new V2 avatar physics to get realistic movement". Sadly not, but that is why I'm starting this thread. I just had a play but am feeling lazy and can't be bothered to find the right balance. So I'm hoping you (yes, you! :smileyhappy:) can tell me what settings you have used to get realistic movement (and I really can't stress realistic enough - I don't want to have my bits flailing all over the place causing injury to casual observers! :smileysurprised:) Please post the settings you have used here so we can all get an idea of what the right balance is for realistic movement (I realise that there will be some difference based on shape, size etc, but I just want to get a happy medium for the 'avergae' avatar). Thanks! P.S. I'm sure we can manage to do this and stay PG (The words 'breast', 'belly' and 'butt' are, I'm sure, fine in this context of posting your settings. Just don't get over-excited and risk killing the thread for naughtyness!)

  19. Only 1 GB of memory is going to be a big bottleneck too! While it states the minimum spec as 512mb and the recommended as 1Gb or more, you need to bear in mind that just your operating system (and some basic things you probably have running in the background) will use a fair proprtion of that memory. Once you open up SL you are probably easily using up that 1Gb and running into virtual memory. Which will probably slow things down dramtically and cause some instability.
  20. I feel kinda sorry for Storm, so i'm going to let the cat out of the bag and tell him that the extra emoticons people are using are ones they have uploaded themselves and stored in their images section. (I'm not sure if you realised that or not Storm, so apologies if I sound patronising. I don't mean to. I just got the impression you think some of us can use extra default emoticons due to rank. We can't!) Anyway - can't stop. Ate far too much cheese today and ...
  21. Void Singer wrote: Suella Ember wrote: Dems the rules I'm afraid! 16-19 16-17 restricted to General (PG) regions only. minor correction Well spotted! Don't know how I managed to hit a 9 insted of a 7. Bloody fat fingers! :smileytongue: I'll edit my original post to avoid confusion.
  22. Fantastic pics Hunter. I love how you have got the beam of sunlight through the window and the slight haze. I really need to find time to get back inworld and do some more playing around with this ETA: Just read how you used both yourself and your twin to create the mirror effect - that's a very clever idea that had never even occured to me!
  23. As Lyra says, subscribo type groups shouldn't have any major impact on your inwolrd performance. One other thing to just bear in mind is that, with most of these types of groups, if ever you want to unsubscribe, you have to go back to the original location and click the sign you subscribed from to choose 'unsubscribe'. This is fine in most circumstances but, sadly, there is the occassional unscrupulous user who will make it difficult to unsubscribe by moving the sign around or hiding it. Worse case scenario though is that you can mute the sending object if it becomes extremely spammy and you can't find the sign to unsubscribe
  24. The detail Darrius provided from the Grid Status will be the reason your friend had problems with the profile, it's just coincidence that it happened when they were saving the pic. There is nothing you can / need to do to fix it. The issue LL were having with the profiles should be fixed now, so the best bet is to get your friend to try again and everything should hopefully now be ok ETA: Also note the latest advice on the Grid Status to clear cache and relog if problems viewing profiles persist.
  25. I believe it says somewhere in the DG submission that an LL rep will visit the location to write up their own description and take their own photos for the entry in the guide. Not sure why they insist on that, but I guess maybe they have specific requirements for the photo style / size etc?
