Is SL in a good state financially
Bree Giffen replied to GenesisSonikku's topic in General Discussion Forum
SL is like a popular 80s band still making music, releasing albums and playing gigs at small venues. People will say, "Theylre still around?" but the fans know. -
I just got on at a quarter to midnight and the screen is really, really, really white. It's like staring into a flashlight. Is there a user setting for changing the forum colors? Or maybe a toggle between a light theme and a dark theme?

You can almost always translate real life photography lessons to second life. You can control the SL camera like a real camera. You can control the lighting by windlight or adding lighted prims.

The biggest one I remember was Ginny of Dazzle and Last Call.

Unless the official viewer has changed recently the answer would be no. Would be a nice feature to have.

More free for all sandboxes needed
Bree Giffen replied to roughplay's topic in General Discussion Forum
Have you tried making a platform in the sandbox and going up about 200 meters? Most griefers or people using the sandbox to unpack things don't bother going upstairs. You can also build walls on your platform to block out the view.- 7 replies

You should get as many demos as possible. They allow you to check if something fits correctly before buying.

Probably related to the scheduled maintenance yesterday. http://status.secondlifegrid.net

How best to promote my Park
Bree Giffen replied to Evangeline Arcadia's topic in General Discussion Forum
Put the map link in your forum sig. I saw the setting in this newfangled forum but now I can't find it. Put the links in your profile here and in SL. Put some pretty park pics in your profile. People like getting free stuff. Maybe put some nice free tchotkes around the park for people to collect as they walk around. If you do that, be sure to mention it in your profile. Also, find new resident areas and chat with them, give out a notecard of places to visit and put your park link there, or just show them how teleports work.- 5 replies

I received a notification from Phil and one from Cinnamon. I guess getting a tag in a quotation also sends a notification. Cinnamon, if you type the @ symbol followed by a name (no spaces or " symbols), a drop down menu pops up just below the cursor. It tries to suggest resident names. As Phil states, if you select the name in the menu it will turn into an orange tag. @Cinnamon Mistwood

@Phil Deakins @Phil Deakins Does listing you twice, cause you to receive two notifications? Interesting. It highlights in orange. @Bree Giffen @Bree Giffen test.

SL is a multi-faceted jewel where held one way it ilooks like dull glass and held another way it looks like glittering diamond. I think there are more facets of SL that are brilliant than not. You don't need to bring up everything about SL when you discuss it. Acknowledge any bad points if brought but put those points into perspective compared to the whole of SL. Looking at just bad points is like being in a palace in the dark and only shining your flashlight on the toilet.

Random Asked Question 13: Where the boys are.
Bree Giffen replied to Rhonda Huntress's topic in General Discussion Forum
I dont usually start conversations so I chat in whatever format the other person chooses. When I do start a conversation it is usually in open chat. -
Curiosity question for those who have alts
Bree Giffen replied to Asher Isodo's topic in General Discussion Forum
I just thought of an awesome scam. Send people a message that goes, "Reminder to myself, pay this alt $1,000 lindens to buy new clothes". -
Curiosity question for those who have alts
Bree Giffen replied to Asher Isodo's topic in General Discussion Forum
I tend to log all my fashion alts into the same place at different times. I suppose my neighbor knows they are alts because she seems to do the same thing. -
I tried to make a scale replica of my bedroom once. I couldn't even stand up straight because my avatar head hit the ceiling. Then I looked around my real room and imagined my giant avatar in the room with me. It was a little scary. What's even weirder is my avatar is usually the smallest avatar when I go to a store.

Regardless of which "side" you're on
Bree Giffen replied to Aislin Ceawlin's topic in General Discussion Forum
The election is American democracy at its best. We see it work every four years. Honestly, I think this is the first time the election was won by a true 3rd party outsider candidate with completely unknown expectations. If we dont like what happens in the next four years at least we can all vote with more certainty on what each candidate will deliver. -
Whats going on with SL? Is it failing?
Bree Giffen replied to Azrikam's topic in General Discussion Forum
SL isn't falling. It has turned into a long tail business model where it doesnt make a huge profit on release and then goes out of business but rather it continues making a small profit for a long period of time after release. As long as it makes a profit Linden Lab could run SL indefinitely. -
What's a reasonable wage for an job in SL
Bree Giffen replied to Raine Violet's topic in General Discussion Forum
I would say that a reasonable wage would allow you to rent a small parcel of land and buy a few things every month. -
"Territory of complete geekdom"
Bree Giffen replied to ChadUnfroyd's topic in General Discussion Forum
Like the internet itself isnt a vast wasteland of geekdom. Everyone is looking at their cell phone screen today is a geek. If you are reading this, you are a geek. If you attempt to form an argument against what I am saying, an anonymous person on the internet whom you have never met in real life, you are a geek.
