Look!!! LL is letting the FIC into Sansar
mikka Luik replied to Medhue Simoni's topic in General Discussion Forum
I can see your point here, if LL are attempting to create yet another 'engine' for pro teams to prepackage these .. experiences. In a way, why not. Having tried a fair few of these they probably can't do much worse after all and they have essayed a couple of tentative steps in small ways with other product attempts (the V thing - name escapes me). Companies move on after all. There may be a sweet spot where whatever the Lab provides does break in to this mass market thing but how it will differentiate itself is the question. Another platform/engine that delivers games in a browser or whatever - fine, why not. They may even be sitting on the 'killer' (fill in word of the marketing moment as app is a little oldskool) There are some interesting engines out there that purport to offer this already and they are fun to play with. Which has always been the appeal of SL (and its clones) but its advantage is - people do play. Explore. Experiment. Swear (ok just me personally). The 'democratisation' aspect touted as something new? I've always found SL to have that as a built in. -
What's your opinion on SL's community as a whole?
mikka Luik replied to JPG0809's topic in General Discussion Forum
Hmm, closest (very loose) fit from the OED is 'Community.. 8. An online facility, such as an electronic bulletin board, forum, or chat room, where users can share information or discuss topics of mutual interest.' And that only describes tiny subsets. So I would say there is no overarching 'community' at all, only created accounts, a vast number of them. Even there, if we take the active ones ( nope not going to try to count those ) there are clear divisions. Take these forums. There are accounts that are not aware they exist, accounts that read them (a subset of whom participate) and even accounts that never actually log in world and whose sole purpose is to be active here. All SLers. Sole connection. There are communities within that set of accounts, loads of them, but apart from opening an account - nope, for which I am grateful. As imposing the label 'community' on a disparate group who have only a single link leads to self appointed 'community leaders' and, to misquote Granny Weatherwax, "I can't be having with all that". (Although Mistress W may be closer in some ways with "Don't do what you will, do what I tells you." =^^= ) (I considered ' 5b. A group of people who share the same interests, pursuits, or occupation, esp. when distinct from those of the society in which they live. ' but only the last part seemed applicable ). -
Good one. So define jurisdiction (if is possible). Resident of Quebec - nope, you have to ask me if I am in your Pic ( the long view ) and yes you do =^^= And I did something similar - street scene, closer view, a building close, a view.... Interesting. As I am doing an online course on generative - works - that has started to address this from another view. Define a say 64 by 64 field of pixels wherein the restriction is the RGB 8 bit colours,,, Fascinating. If you expand to what that basic form can represent. Even in SL that can be a normal map with machine interpretation.

Commerce Team: It's LAND IMPACT now, not prims!
mikka Luik replied to Pamela Galli's topic in Merchants
"It should also be mandatory that the render weights for all wearables be listed also." Agreed. And any one daring to transgress some arbitrary limit by wearing stuff should be sent t'cornfield mark 3 and laughed at. I start the bidding at lets see : 1 and an undefined fraction -
In Singularity, its File -> Upload Sound It will be greyed out if you don't have 10 lindens or more though.

As well as the good advice about drivers, have you been 'grid hopping' at all? I have often seen 'tie dyed' (thanks for the name btw) textures after visiting other grids using the same viewer and needed to clear the cache to fix it.
-
: when has the limit on 'resources' (as you say - prims) limited creativity? As a case in point - this space? And as a point, in case - usage here.
-
You ask "How many users even know SL have a twitter account?" About 11,000 by the 'folloing' number I would think. Hey, I don't even own a phone but still checked there. And question for you - how many residents do you think even look here anyway =^^= But yes you have a point - perhaps they should send snail mail to everyone
-
Ok - How? You can come up a way to distinguish av generated chat from gesture generated? Do please tell =^^= as you would make a fortune. And the privacy tabs are for - privacy. Inside which areas you decide your own rules - its why you set them yes? Which may be another l$ area but - well, privacy. As a work around - advertise as gesture == insta kick - might be surprised at the popularity. But then again expecting a tech solution to a 'social' issue is always the easy way. Good luck.
-
Sorry, it was a test of both Singularity and the SL Viewer on the Beta grid. Main grid same object no problem a few minutes later. Was just ruling out a possible viewer issue.

Aware that you know there will always be around anything like this but it *might* work if you deliver a HUD the customer attaches that displays both your TOS and Accept/Decline buttons before transferring to inv (as a free floating NC is a bit tricky to tie to a 'menu' anyway).Plus, could add a check that auto deletes if rezzed as opposed to being attached. Not sure of the copy/no copy etc ramifications of contents perms of all this though so would take some testing. Really depends on how complex you want to make it. Just an idea that may work for you. Good luck:)
-
Same result as of 02:30 SLT on both sing and SL Viewer. Most annoying Hopefully fixed before needing to test anything actually complex...

A question on Textures for Particles..How can textures be "tintable"?
mikka Luik replied to Love Zhaoying's question in Creation
To add .. probably means white base ie flat base (possibly darker highlights) so yes can be 'tinted' =^^= For particle magic search for Jopsy..... -

zoe sez 'I suppose the moral of the story is never trust a woman.' Curious to know the basis for that reaction. Before I nick it as a flag for MP -
Real world analogy not so easy..pair of scissors or a pack of dirt cheap razors = 'hairstyle' all taken care of. Plus razors usefull for more than hair. Plus learn to knit or hand weave =^^= Even cheaper than virtual Plus there is a built in virtual scarcity that SL does well. Its called whimsy

Had to chuckle at 'the emerging/emerged generation'. Very insectoid they are, you are so right. Not only are they clueless about how 'stuff' works they wouldn't even know how to change the batteries =^^= Wheres my Citizen Wolfie Smith coat -
