  1. v3 not going to happen anytime soon. LL just ordered another 90 truckloads of duct tape to keep developing v2. But when LL start to develop v3. i hope they hire real interface designer. Not some graphics designer who enjoy pushing buttons and watching things slide in and fade out. Philip Linden said that iDiot phone is fancy and bling bling, but not very good if you want to actually get work done. People keep telling me that nowdays i can do most things in v2 that i were able to do in v1. Just need to find all the debug settings and edit some files here and there. But most is not all, so i stay away for some longer. Life is short, i rather get something done in SL than enjoy clicking all over the screen bazillion times to be able to do the things i did with 1 or 2 clicks in v1.
  2. A banline story: Neighbor had these wall's with pictures of mountains and sky around her land. Fullbright to ruin the night. She also had banlines. I asked her to make my side of the wall's invisible. No reply. So i rezzed a wall with banline texture on her side. Later a linden arrived. I detected the linden and sent IM to him. The linden told me that the banline wall of mine ruins the view. I told him that the banline and fullbright picture of RL ruin my view. The linden told the banline wall made from prims ruin the view also for people behind the land of my neighbor. I told the linden that i talked with the people who used to live there, and that they all told me they moved away cause this neighbor of mine had so ugly land. (i once even got IM from a person who live almost 2 sims away. This person asked if im friends with my neighbor and if i could ask her to remove the ugly full bright wall's) I told that i can change the banline texture to fullbright default wood, which clearly is allowed all over SL. The neighbor finally agreed to make my side of her crappy wall invisible. The linden told me that since i was co-operative, i didnt get official warning for my actions. But the neighbor still had banlines. So i made a gadget to individually ban every person detected on the land of my neighbor. I guess they got tired of looking the banlines. They removed their banlines, and i removed them from my ban list. Nowdays the neighbor don't even have the ugly wall's anymore. Too bad they still lag the sim with temp rezzers to go over their prim quota. Living in mainland is lil bit tricky sometimes. But still worth it. I love mainland. All other neighbors nearby are nice and well behaving.
  3. Peewee Musytari wrote: ...all with banlines up & some even for sale... You and the other land owners should AR the banline person. It is not allowed to have banlines on land set for sale. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:About_ad_farms_and_network_advertisers
  4. One minute ago i sent a ticket as "Linden Lab owner parcel issues" and it worked fine. No errors. I use firefox and i have pay info.
  5. More and more rumours about LL making v1 based viewers blocked way or another. 3rd party developers can ofcourse update their clients to continue working without adding the v2 iDiot UI. But 1.23 and snowglobe will prolly stop workign in near future. This is a rumour. Will see. So... Maybe soon i get forced to switch from snowglobe to v2. I guess there is some web page with instructions on how to enable the things in v2 that im used to use in v1. Gimme links to the pages TY.
  6. LL really should go back to the old system of responding to AR's 24/7. Not only for keeping sandboxes clean, but to react to abuse of all kind in reasonable amount of time. Not fun to send AR and know LL will not read it untill 8 hours later when they wake up. The griefing situation got lot worse since they merged the old boxes. Before the merge, there were about one griefer attack/day. Sometimes 2. And all sandboxes had off-world border so friendly residents used special gadgets designed to throw the physical goo off-world. I made a JIRA request to fix the old sandboxes: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7033 Nowdays the boxes spend more time under attack than not. We actually do have LL sandbox where anonymous accounts can't enter: "Zindra Vortex" Very peacefull place. Not sure if it is good idea to prevent anonymous accounts entering the sandboxes. The griefers will just find another place to rez their goo. Different thing if LL prevent anonymous ppl from entering to SL alltogether. But i dont like this idea. I have a feeling most people are not willing to give their RL details just to try out something new. It might work if LL would create new small continent and anonymous accounts could log in there, get to know SL a bit. And after a period of time they could choose if they want to see the rest of the SL if they give their RL details. Inventory and money transfer shold maybe be limited between this noob continent and real continent to finally get rid of all the copybotting and scamming. Then again, not at all sure if this is good idea either. LL make tons of profit, untill LL make their accountancy public, i say they make 10 times the amount of profit they claim to make. Even with their current puplic profit, LL has money to hire more staff, and pay them enough to stay up all night to respond to AR's and tickets. LL has told me that they don't care much about the mess going on in the sandboxes. But LL should realise that if they don't clean the mess in the boxes, it will start to spread to neighboring resident owned lands. We can prolly never get rid of the griefers. But we can do a lot. First step after going back to the 24/7 g-team, would be automating detection of grief in the server code. Some part of it is already in place. When the sim detect too many lag from objects of certain person, the sim freeze the objects. But freezing does not solve anything, sometimes makes it worse. Instead the sim should just return the objects that cause trouble, and maybe even freeze the owner of the objects and summon a linden to see what is going on.
  7. Sellers have self made sales logs. They come in many colors and shapes. Some card system/item sounds like a mess. If we ever get this. i suggest there is just a field in the profile "Liisa Runo" "Previous accounts: Nommy Nom, Liisa Nap" Edit: lol, didnt know that word is on the black list.... lets edit it
  8. Sure, might be usefull to some people. But only if there is some kind of indication visible to everyone that this process been made. This is needed so content creators don't accidentally sue you for permission violation when they check your name from the sales log.
  9. My lovely self made bicycle. Very comfy to ride. This bike has seen most linden roads. Riding this always makes me very happy. And here is my cute car. Sadly this car has bad engine script and prims are no-mod so i can't put self made script in it.
  10. Banlines sure are annoying. Never talked with a parson who use banlines so i dont really know why some people use them.Sometimes i get the feeling that people use them "just because i can. my land, i dont care about other people" or something like that. I live in mainland and i always allow everyone to enjoy my lands. I even allow everyone to build. I have autoreturn. To get privacy i go up to space. I dont feel i get privacy on ground level even if i raise banlines. Would be cool if banlines would always be visible to owner. That way the owner would see the same ugly they show to neighbors. And would be cool if it would be possible to make banlines visible from far far away when you travel. Maybe a slider. Kinky people got zindra. Maybe it is time to make new continent for banline people and force them to move there.
  11. Things i miss: Script error particle on agents. Really annoying that nowdays people spam errors and don't even realise it. SCR-103 Intresting last names. "OMFGwhyALLnamesAreTaken99384 Resident"looks annoying on my screen. G-team that responded to AR's 24/7. Not funny to wait 8 hours for LL to react to 300+ AR's against one griefer. Some features removed from LSL. Plenty of features missing from v2 that we had in v1. (these i will miss some day when im forced to use v2) Several office hours. Mature sims where i could smoke weed. Movies can show use of weed to 16years old. But in SL i need to go to zindra to enjoy it. Functionality of old sandboxes. SVC-7033 Sploders. They were fun way to pass time at clubs. Things i welcome: All the new LSL stuff. llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast is so awesome. The fix that prevented people to make no-mod script open source. Took over an year for LL to fix. Avatar alpha layers, tattoo layers, multi attachments. (i get to enjoy these some day) Shadows and added light sources. Mesh. (oh how cool it will be some year when v2 gets more ready) LL finally started to actually remove stolen assets from the servers. The new water and sky is pretty. Obolong sculpts. ... and the list goes on. We get lot of fun new stuff in SL. Still feels kinda slow progress and LL lack sense of priorities. But something is better than nothing.
  12. Qie Niangao wrote: Yeah, the blog post probably shouldn't have said "landowners" because the vast majority of landowners actually can't use Estate environment settings. Ill second that. I got excited for a sec. Then realised the truth and got disappointed.
  13. Maybe too early to use avatar physics. All the viewers that don't support it see you with ruth shape unless you keep rebaking all the time.
  14. Best places got mentioned. When going shopping, be carefull not to accidentally buy no-copy stuff. Some of these shops sell their products as copy and no-copy permissions. And in one shop it is lil difficult to see which version you will get if you dont pay attention. Also remember that normal linden plants are usefull too. Having a giant forest made only out from sculpt plants will lag most clients down. Can make good looking enviroments by mixing linden plants and sculpted plants. Also linden plants don't have alpha sort error Edit: And stay away from temp rezzers. They lag the sim.
  15. Melita Magic wrote: Except that it often isn't the real griefer on the prim. But, LL knows that also. Yea, sometimes griefers fool some new person by giving them something, and the new person rez the grief without knowing what it does. Also there was a hax to change the owner of a prim. I hope LL fixed that already.
  16. Also if you right click the griefing object and select AR, the name of the griefer get automagically filled to the report. (atleast in v1 based clients)
  17. I made a jira about the current problems of the sandboxes: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7033
  18. Yes. More Sqatters. More copybotters. More griefers. More scammers. .... And LL respond lot slower. Or totally ignore AR's and tickets.
  19. Could this maybe be the "buy back period" where the person who (despite all the warnings, accidentally) abandoned the land can get it back before it goes to open market?
  20. Me and couple friends always had our lands in same sim. One day we wanted more land but the sim we used to live in was all taken so we had to find entirely new place. I found this cute lil lake. It was super expensive but perfect size. I managed to convince my friends that it hurts only once to buy expensive land. But later it hurt less to pay the tier cause the land is nice and pretty. During the years we have bought all the land that has come available in the sim and now we own most of it. Orginally we bought 1/4 of the sim. The layout is not very planned. We been building our stuff to places where terrain allow it. And filled the unused space with trees, plants and rocks. One of us had castles and stuff on the left part of the sim. But he wiped it to make room for train-city. The sloped terrain was too tricky for trains. So he decided to make the city up to sky where is plenty of room and no restrictions of terrain. One of us have gothic club and stuff up in sky. She dont hold events but love to have the club anyway. We also have some unfinished builds up in the sky. Projects that take ages to finish. Projects that we dont want to ruin the prettyness of the ground level. It has been a blast to live together with friends. All land is owned by the same group. So we get nice big tier bonus.
  21. Content breaking bug in Le Tigre: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SCR-55
  22. AAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGHHHH!!!! Installed the iDiot v2 to be able to attach alpha mask. Took forever to figure out the "intuitive" UI but finally managed to find my way through the meaningless buttons scattered all over the screen.. Then logged back to snowglobe just to see im not wearing the alpha mask anymore. ARGH!!!! Why cant LL just add these couple new features to the working client? Everybody knows it will take couple more years till v2 is even near ready.
  23. Still work for me. Snowglobe 1.4.2 (3626) Aug 19 2010 18:06:40 (Snowglobe Release) Edit: Why you have "2.6.3" in the title of the topic? Snowglobe version numbers don't go that high. Or did i misunderstood something?
  24. Stealing the source code of a script been possible before. Not so long time ago. LL fixed the hole that made it possible. But LL knew about the hole over half year before it got fixed. LL chose to not warn us about the hole. And this made my blood boil. It still boil to think about it. Personally i think LL should close the whole grid when they find out. I would not be suprised if there is still ways to steal the source code. Would not be suprised that LL already been knowing about this trick for months. LL tell us the truth. Atleast warn us about threats like this. It is one thing to loose stuff like money for example. Money can be replaced. Damage caused by stolen source code can never be healed. Edit: Take the link off your post.
  25. Haha, seen those too, and sent AR's. Maybe we should start posting to this thread instead of sending AR's? One AR/day for 2 weeks seem to fail.
