Passed by the Tiny Inc store nearby... wondering whether I should be a Dinkie in SL. (I RP as one occasionally in Open Sim.)

Not if you're a Prince or serious Latin music fan IMO, she's great!

Just here to say thanks for tackling the return of Kokua in Linux. I run that, plus the current Megapahit build in Ubuntu Studio LTS 22.04.3. I do like that Megapahit is forked from the LL viewer... I sometimes mess with the Windows versions under wine, so it's nice to see a project that forks it and runs natively in Linux and MacOS.

Any fans of guitarist Nick Johnston around here? This is a band he's formed with his wife, Sachiko. I would've posted the lyrics here, but it's better to go to the YT page for that.

Slow avatar load, low FPS - RTX 2070, i7-6700k
JeromFranzic replied to Briwuh's question in Technical
^ That's all accurate, but I'm happy that larger caches can take place in my PC now. Especially useful and fast if you TP right back to a previous location. -

Slow avatar load, low FPS - RTX 2070, i7-6700k

Your hardware seems to be fine for exploring SL. So is your connection speed. I think it's just server issues on your end. I run a laptop from 2018 with a 1050 @ 4gb vram, and a i7-8750H CPU. 32 gb of DDR4 RAM, and a 2TB m.2 ssd. I typically run Firestorm or Cool VL Viewer in Linux when I am in world. Occasionally boot to Win11 for Black Dragon and to mess with the LL viewer. I max all the caches for each viewer I use. I sometimes use a RAM disk to speed up loading, but it's often not necessary for me. Even with that, I've experienced slowdowns in loading. My connection at home is fast at 1 gig, symmetrical. So ya, if anything loads slowly for me, it's likely from the server end first. I am SLT +3. Some people may advise this, but I have never rebooted my home router to help improve my connection to SL. (For dealing with router firmware update issues, I'll reboot.) Just clearing caches and restarting a viewer corrects most connection issues for me. If it's really bad, I usually decide to come back later instead of wasting time to struggle with loading issues, that's just me. -

What's your favorite toy in SL?
JeromFranzic replied to Charlemagne Allen's topic in General Discussion Forum
The hoverboard gift from last summer's SL20 is fun. A bit noisy, but I haven't been told to stop using it lol -
Yup, Erika can pose the feet separately. That's not why I bought it for myself though... one of my alts has had Erika since v1.4 IIRC. Guess I was jealous lol but don't worry, no weird politics involved. I think Erika's a great body that deserves more support. OK, back to LaraX

Why did you leave IMVU for Secondlife?
JeromFranzic replied to Calartuir's topic in General Discussion Forum
Oh crap... based on some comments here, I probably would hate being on IMVU today then. Popups upon first login? Never got that from any other metaverse I've tried so far, not even VRChat. Never had an issue with the learning curve of SL. Mechanically, SL isn't much different from playing RPG's or flight simulators IMO. That's why I got that part quickly. It's the creative end of things that took longer for me to figure out... but that one never ends, really. That's what hooked me to SL (and a bit later with Open Sim, the weirdo hypergrid cousin), along with some of the social aspects it encourages in world. -
Yep... that's what one of my brothers IRL would say. That's why I chuckled

As an Asian hailing from the Philippines IRL, I thank you for this response.
