  1. Well, after some use I've decided to go back to the way it was (true). Shame this isn't divided into two parts. The 'initial selection' and the 'actual edit'. With this set to false it is not certain which part is being selected and about to be edited versus the highlight state when the actual chosen item is in edit mode. Certainly worth a try and getting a feel for what the alternative mode was like.
  2. I should've asked years ago. My mouse would've been around 7,000 clicks lighter. Thank you.
  3. When editing something 'Show Highlight' is default ON. Is there a way to make this default OFF. I'm forever turning this off. I don't want it. Ever.
  4. Some people are so delicate. Thank goodness policing by others occurs on their behalf.
  5. I would never pay a monthly subscription to SL so I make do with the basic group amount. I always keep one spare group slot for hopping in and out of free group joins for store gifts or lucky boards etc.. My groups are either paid store groups in order to access their lucky boards and gifts, or frequently used general freebie groups, such as SLF&O. None of my groups are for social purposes and I almost always talk my way out of Friend requests, too. Those few that do get accepted are usually removed within a week due to lack of use. I never instigate a friend request. SL is 'me' time. I desire peace and quiet so I can do my own thing. The less interruption and notifications the better. Every group join is always hidden, no chat, no group chat or whatever. All un-checked. I get any information I need externally from SL so need to be disturbed in-world. Not everyone in SL is socially needy.
  6. Never played a gacha or did a loot box. No loss.
  7. Just being able to set an alias forum name on here would be a start. Create the account with your real SL username, then option to change the displayed forum name. Hopefully most people using the forum do so with an alt account which does not handle money within SL.
  8. Thank you for your suggestion and I appreciate the replies. I didn't do exactly what you said but you gave me the idea to simply switch the positions of my mini-map and camera view. The mini-map now sits below the camera view and hides those enormous buttons, at least until I click on an arrow, which isn't that often but it does happen. Simple, but effective. I most commonly look around by holding a left click on myself and then spinning around using the mouse, and move by double-clicking the ground or keyboard arrow keys. Changes like this which shove a new feature in your face which you're either not immediately interested in, or have no interest in at all, can be frustrating. I am the latter. I would imagine all users who've been on SL a while have their screen layouts just they way they like them. If everyday HUDs need to be moved it's like relocating the gear shift in your car. You get so used to driving your viewer with the layout you've created during your time in SL. The length of the bottom of my viewer window has always been: Nearby Chat - Icon Only shortcuts - Animation Overrider - Set Hover Height (stretched to the end. I never use those foot/shoe height change thingies). Thanks!
  9. I only just installed the new update. The windlight thing is irritating but I found an acceptable setting and will use that until the rest can be figured out. What irritates me most is that enormous 'Position' button and the 'Use Presets' button beneath it on the camera view floater. Are those buttons big enough?! Why they aren't located on the camera viewer's header bar I have no idea. An awful loss of screen real estate for something I have no need for. Any way to remove those two massive buttons?
  10. I could not agree more with the above. Very nice post overall. Beyond resizing everything else is tantamount to cheating when it comes to posting pictures on this forum for applause. Almost as embarrassing as placing a signature in the corner of it.
  11. The ability within marketplace to for a buyer/searcher to 'blacklist' a seller/shop would be a major positive. Yes, there would be a lot to block to keep each of us happy, but banning one group type of items would affect greatly those who either enjoy that group or simply don't feel affected to the same degree as the initial wisher of change. This goes the same way for many things in life. Filter out individually rather than blanket ban because a few people's delicate sensibiliteies were bruised. All SL Lives Matter.
  12. Kind of like now, only far more ubiquitous these days .. as we all send todays version of beeps in 0s and 1s via our modern communicators 😀
  13. Thank you for your replies. In my mind I always refer to the issue being with SL beacuse my eyes tell me so, but yes, I see. I grasp now how you describe it as not being SL but rather my ISP or some carrier inbetween me and LL servers which causes this problem. I hope things stay as they currently are, the difference when playing SL between good and bad is like chalk and cheese. I am at their mercy. It is only SL where I see problems, the rest of my internet usage is very good and is generally all or nothing. Nothing being my router needs a reset or the network cable to my laptop needs a jiggle.
  14. Each of my alts is a main account in its own right. They were created as things moved on. Because I already have mesh head and mesh body my last alt was created to make use of the free Genus head and a free mesh body. She has become her own SL account in her own right with her own personality. Nothing to do with any devious activity. In terms of FB accounts and SL accounts I have numerous of both, of which none are actually me, so no accociation could be drawn by a normal person. If ever a Facebook SL group lottery draw comes up and they say ..state your SL username to have a chance.. then no chance. Who cares. I don't need a miniscule chance of winning something I most likely won't wear more than once to connect an FB name to an SL account. Everywhere online I am never 'me', but real life friends know who is me in certain online circles, if I've met them in real life. Otherwise nobody needs to know. You only ever divulge to unkowns what you're prepared to expose of yourself. Learn to keep things separate and private. It's up to you.
  15. Over the past few days things went from bad to worse. I'd log on and be a cloud. I had to Google how to fix that and nothing seemed to change to I closed it and gave up. I saw something in a Facebook group and thought I must have that. I logged in and everything seemed perfect. When I say perfect it is about equal to the best I remember even before my fibre install. The best it has been easily in two months. I didn't do anything. Something in SL has happened. Happened for the better. I don't know what is was, but I am glad it is like it is now. Maybe they just turned something off and on again.
  16. Why not just add a few of your favourite poses to your AO? I have some poses in my Firestorm AO for whenever I want stillness. No need for a pose stand or to rez anything.
  17. Thank you for replying. Are saying to set my Bandwidth slider to 1500?
  18. I don't have a home, so was at my usual fairly quiet landing spot and Packets Lost was 0.0% I went to Blueberry as it is always packed with people and slow, especially now people spend a free giftcard. It was 0.0% packet loss there too, but it was painfully slow and things not rez. I was using Default graphics settings. Maybe I am expecting too much as packet loss is 0%. Also, with many people stuck at home and internet usage more at this time means SL and some other internet places are very, very busy. I never updated my Firestorm for BoM because I don't need or want BoM. Plus my Windows is not fully up to date, nor my graphics drivers or system BIOS because my battery bulged in my laptop and I had to remove it. ASUS will not allow BIOS update without min. 20% battery. Windows 10 cannot update until ASUS BIOS updates as it is queuing. I cannot move on without buying a new battery. Maybe this is causing my clunky SL and there is nothing wrong elsewhere. I have resisted buying a battery which I don't need as my laptop never moves, but I guess I need to buy it so I can move forward. I wish it had a battery monitor override. In one year it will be faulty again. Laptop batteries suck if they don't get used because your laptop never moves. Standing at the busy Blueberry CAM sim. 19. Thank you for the links. I must be honest, I had and still have no idea what Ardy Lay was saying and how to proceed. It just didn't compute with my brain, but I appreciated that it clearly triggered something with Oz Linden and I followed that link given. My speed test result at DSLreports .com is: - This all looks good and positive to my eyes, but I am no expert. It seems it is not bufferbloat. Maybe I need to start digging for clues inside Firestorm.
  20. I have no idea, but I thought I'd give it a try. Regard VPN slowing my internet down the ping was the same and the down/up speeds lower but still better than my old wired VDSL connection where SL ran nicely.
  21. Thank you all so much for replies. It is always relieving to know people try to help others when things are not good. I don't know why but I had not considered the increase in internet traffic during these 'stay at home' times, although the the clunky performance of SL was happening before that. I think. Yes, I'm pretty sure it was but I had recently taken a break from SL and with it clunky like this makes it more difficult to remotivate again. A little more information: The fiber router I use is new and provided by my ISP, on loan. I have NordVPN and tried several USA connections and there was no noticeable difference in SL performance, but the connections are to USA, cannot choose specific cities or regions within. The Nalates Urriah list of things to try looks intense, but thorough. At first glance it looks beyond my abilities, but I will endevour to do my best and follow the steps. I will set some time aside soon to work through the tests and checks listed. Same as in real life. When times are tough is when we learn most about ourselves and our environment. Again, thank you all so much for your help and suggestions. I very much enjoy SL and hope not to slip away due to poor connecting. Stay safe.
  22. I used to have a wired internet connection which gave me about 75Mbps down / 22Mbps up / ping = 10ms (locally). I can't remember what ping to Arizona was. In Preferences my bandwidth was set to 1250. SL ran very well. I was happy. Now I have fiber optic installed and now have 315Mbps down / 95Mbps up / ping = 1ms (locally). Ping to Arizona (8550 miles away) is 220ms. I have tried different bandwidth settings bringing it down, as that's what I read somewhere .. .. but my SL is now terrible! The rest of the internet works perfectly and my ping to Arizona can't have been better than now, surely. Can anybody help me. What can I do to make it better again, please?
  23. I cannot bear to pay their prices any more, plus I really do not like the slow, lumpy and laggy format of the newer HUD at all. I wish they sold the ARMS animations separately. As far as I know they're only available from within sets. Vista animations in general do not seem as good as they used to be.
  24. That is not true in my case, I use both anims loaded into Firestorm's AO AND a Zhao AO all at the same time without any issues at all. It is likely that you haven't selected or divided the right type of animation into the AO's, you have cross-over.
