  1. I'm not sure what you want us to do .. we could post tutorial vids or guides .. but ..
  2. Same .. M1 Macbook Air runs SL fine .. M1 Ultra Pro is more bigger more better. Wouldn't kick one out of bed.
  3. This is a bit of a double edged sword. Big brands will stomp all over creators making similar content because unlike the real world, they can wipe you out with an email. There will also be pressure on LL to reign in user expression and control how their brands appear. Did you pose nude in front of our brand? Oh no you didn't .
  4. Have you tried not being queer? You could just smile more? You're struggling and that's making me sad. I just decided not to be depressed! I'm going to pray for you (my continued love and support is dependent on this fixing everything). Think of your child, you're setting a bad example. I'm sorry you're unhappy, let me know when you're better and we can be friends again. Hit them back harder. You're not trying enough. The neighbors are gay and we never talk to them, why can't you be more like them? It's the video games, go outside more. I don't understand what's going on, could you just stop? I'm sorry you got assaulted, but it's your own fault for being like this. I can't deal with all this, maybe it would have been better if you had killed yourself (Yikes - thanks Mom) .....
  5. That is exactly my point. It's impossible to give solutions (which you absolutely did) without knowing contextual information. But you can't know that, nor can the person with an issue be expected or even be in a position to provide all the required information. Helpful advice and trying to make the best of something is itself a form of avoidance that delays meaningful interaction with people trained to actually provide help. When it comes to mental health (and health in general) nothing was ever improved by letting it fester some and trying a few coping strategies. The single piece of actually useful advice I could give to past me would be - Go and get this sorted out while it's still small.
  6. UI scale is a blunt tool that makes it really easy to end up with a screen covered with nothing but UI .. we've actually been prototyping fading the entire UI out when the camera is in motion and are going to look at allowing more selective UI scaling That ... sounds like a bug, going to have to investigate. Regular screen reading software can't read the UI like a regular application, and I'm not sure where the useful line between having everything read aloud and selective reading is for a graphical desktop client. My experience with screen readers is limited to website testing and I've found the screen reader "stream of consciousness" as it endlessly blurts out everything to be less than useful. Do you use any specific screen reading software or are you using the system narrator elsewhere?
  7. The assumption is that scripts are no mod unless explicitly stated. I do wish creators would include product/box images with full permissions though .. getting the UUID of that can really simplify wardrobe use, and it makes it possible to pass a friend a copy of the product image in world.
  8. Effective exposure therapy requires professional guidance and oversight. At best, doing so without is ineffective, at worst put's you at real risk of rebound and relapse with significantly more anxiety than you started with. Do not give psychology advice unless you are a trained professional, doing so minimizes and belittles those with actual mental health issues. "If it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger" is simplistic, false and runs the risk of deepening actual trauma. Do not take random psychological advice from well meaning people on forums who's psychology training came from the school of life / youtube. How can you know if someone online is a trained professional? The ones worth anything don't hang out on forums giving helpful DIY solutions to actual serious problems, they are trained not to do this, they will tell you to seek a professional.
  9. Really does feel that all this exists just to be a case study for Tilia. SL exists because it facilitates and expands upon every aspect of the human experience, the good and the bad. This isn't by design, this is by an absence of involvement. Management washed their hands of what happens in SL and left us to it, and that worked. Human interaction is driven by irrational conflict and competition, and as much as we might not like that, its absence has killed every single competitor we have ever had. Every major social platform thrives on engagement, not with advertisers along for the ride, but with other humans permitted the freedom to be just as human as they dare. Games get over this hump by providing the conflict and granting you, the hero, a central role in resolving it .. with more conflict. We have seen the "civil town hall model" fail repeatedly and yet, the same people keep pushing the same idea with bigger and bigger budgets (to wrest / retain control over existing platforms, which is itself a form of motivated conflict). Rosedale learned nothing from the complete failure of HiFi, and the worry is LL have learned nothing from the failure of Sansar. Both can be cited laying the blame at the feet of VR technology and not on their own decisions to craft sterile worlds. VRChat alone proves them wrong.
  10. This a million times. If you're into making film, of any kind, learning the editors craft is essential study and informs everything else you do. There is a deeply transformative rabbit hole here that will affect every aspect of your work at all skill levels and intended purposes. Even if you just dip your toe in and pick up the basics, it time well invested (and comes with the free side effect of increased appreciation and enjoyment of film in general).
  11. I'm a little more forgiving for no demo .. I would always prefer a demo. No MOD is a deal breaker for anything rezzed. If I break it fiddling, well that's on me .. MOD clothing & avatar accessories is a major incentive.
  12. Oooof .. Um .. I retired that exact machine to be our in home file / minecraft server .. That CPU is a decade old.
  13. Check your BIOS, there might be one and it's just turned off.
  14. On the stock viewer, Catznip and perhaps others, that type of link will trigger the following warning in chat, once per session, subsequent attempts silently fail. [05:49] Second Life: A SLurl was received from an untrusted browser and has been blocked for your security. Right clicking "Run This Command" will bypass the warning, but you're kinda off in the weeds once someone has seen the SCARY MESSAGE.
  15. You might have a TPM header on your MB (check MB manual), in which case you can just get a plug in module and job done (Search Amazon for "TPM Chip")
  16. I work on the Catznip viewer, rather than recommend a specific viewer (even our own), I'm going to ask, what would you want from a viewer? What features are important to you? Where could your experiences with SL to date have been better? What can we do to make a better viewer for visually impaired users?
  17. You can fix modern laptops (etc), but the tooling and skills to do so is far more specialized. They aren't explicitly designed to be unworkable, but miniaturization and part consolidation makes it all but impractical. I would, and I have .. but I hate high density surface mount work with a passion Windows is what happens when there are strict commitments to legacy function (much like SL). Software going back decades can and does just run, but that in turns means you have to keep decades of interfaces hanging around.
  18. SL does run on Windows 11 .. perfectly fine. The problem is that Windows 11 is a hot mess, especially if you use explorer or have an ultrawide monitor.
  19. TPM stuff is the blocker most of the time - If your machine is relatively recent, it will support it, however it might not be enabled in the bios. I use this to prevent Windows 11 installing.
  20. Don't render in real time what you can render in post. Don't render everything you need all in one pass. Compositing is your friend. For video, frame rate is king, everything else can be worked around or patched up later, but if you don't have the frames. You don't have a video.
  21. I have a large collection of old, really old and positively vintage computer stuff. Playing with that brings me endless hours of fun, even if most of that is spent trying to trick in into working. That is an entirely different hobby though. I could be typing this on some positively archaic kit, but I'm not as I have other things I'd like to do today As for the photo printers, I have a lot stuff for XP era dye sublimation printers, they still produce great photo prints and so long as I have materials I'm not looking for a modern alternative. That said, I do keep a dedicated period accurate jacked up XP machine on hand just for using that old stuff (and XP era games) - I would advise against using a Pi or modern machine with such printers, as while you might get them printing with sufficient effort, the old XP drivers and workflow are really the only way to get moderately accurate color (because the printer is actually garbage and they covered it up on the software side).
