  1. That and people don't randomly interact with each others attachments anymore unless you deliberately hang a lantern on it and explicitly state "click this, go on, it's ok".
  2. Probably a dozen .. But what if we're introverted and difficult to motivate !!
  3. I don't think Ruth or Roth have ever or will ever qualify as new or trending.
  4. There's no difference in workload making one thing for 10 bodies by different creators or 10 variations by the same. Different base bodies have different geometry and weighting. At least with a wide range of bodies some will have easier to access to the mandatory dev kits than others. What we needed was LL to have their finger on the pulse of SL and step up 15 years ago with an ongoing and committed iterative program of base avatar improvements, but we're so far past that now, even if they did it anything it would have a tough time. The current ecosystem is a mess for everyone involved, but this is the best we can do when the platform operators are so completely disengaged and out of touch. To LL, avatars are a check box item, once that box has been ticked there is no need or reason to revisit it. The vast majority of Linden staff are wearing the same avatar they made when they started, and of them, plenty are barely dressed system avatars. From the perspective of LL. As things stand now .. everyone who's bothering with mesh bodies, shopping for outfits, constantly working on their look and expressiveness .. they are simply doing SL wrong. Philip gets part of the picture in that better avatars are somewhat important for a platform based entirely around the use of avatars, but he's blind to what that actually translates to in practice. Which is why he's off talking up face mapping and expressions rather than shopping for some new pants and figuring out just how complicated and expensive the systems we depend on actually are. If he gets an avatar make over, it's a big once in a decade event entirely handled by staffers, for everyone else it's a day that ends in Y. Making and dressing an avatar should be easy. Making and dressing an avatar should be baked into the core of the new user experience. Maintaining, updating and expanding the range and capability of avatars, and providing painless creator workflows to support commerce, should be a fundamental part of LL's platform offering.
  5. Stores are selling stuff for it, bloggers are showing it off .. You would think looking at the fashion shopping side of SL that it had far more users than it actually does, but that #18 spot from avatars seen in world wearing it has taken months to achieve. It wasn't that long ago that it was barely beating the #23 ToddleeDoo Baby. Slink and Freya are the main losers it seems. Also have to keep in mind that the Maitreya is a unisex body with the flat chest mod. The blogger hype around it seems entirely down to it being "the new thing".
  6. Kupra needs more clothing. It's the #5 body in actual use (and #3 female body) , but everywhere you go .. you see vendors with #18 as though there is a deliberate attempt to try and make eBody Reborn happen .. it's not happening.
  7. If you look at the concurrency graph for any platform or service with hourly figures you will see the same peaks and troughs sat on top of a volume that never changes. We don't get all the numbers, just aggregate ones. The 30K minimum aren't the same 30K from one second to the next, there is a huge churn of accounts coming and going, just after you work out the difference, that's what's left. The low concurrency doesn't raise due to timezones .. Homework question ... where in the world do peak home entertainment hours and SL population lows overlap?
  8. The viewer only has limited information, and sometimes features require far more data than it has on hand, options on how to get that extra data are often limited and can be more expensive than would be ideal. Say for example you had a real world warehouse and you needed to know how much the total value of all the stock was worth. The smart solution would be to plan ahead and have records or some kind of database to poke, the bad solution is to go and manually count and scan everything by hand .. FS area search is more of the latter, but in the absence of a data base is the only available option. The sad part is there is actually a database, but it's locked in the bosses office. Another example of a simple thing that needs a little more data having bad consequences would be seeing a friends last login date. The viewer could keep track of when it saw friends come and go, but that record ends up being incomplete should you not be online at the same time. The other option is to look though all your groups and find one with shared membership and read the date from there. This isn't super bad (ignoring it all being a bit creeper) if you do it manually. If the viewer does it automatically .. and all copies of FS are doing this automatically when the log in .. well now we're setting the group servers on fire and LL are freaking out. Consequences of scale have put plenty of our "bright ideas" in the trash over the years. In the context of area search .. one person doing it, it's "bad" .. but it's not world endingly bad. If everyone visiting an event immediately fired it up rather than camming about, well then LL might be freaking out.
  9. I'm really happy this was all sorted out ! There is no LGB without the T.
  10. Not to bog everyone down with technical details, lets just say it involves a non trivial amount of "brute force" that is at very least "unkind" to the region being searched. There is an interface from LL we have asked about many time that could be used to create an are search, the pathfinding data that the viewer can request is almost perfect, however it's limited to your own objects rather than all objects (we use this in Catznip to create a way to search for items on your own land). It's still potentially a lot of data to send out, but it's only a fraction of what FS's area search can generate.
  11. There is not and you are unlikely to ever see FS area search in the official viewer due to the way it works.
  12. They have written their own, it does not appear to use our code (which IMO is better) .. my point was they could have just said "hey we like that, can has" and we would have submitted it (it has to be submitted to transfer ownership or LL risk tainting their internal code with LGPL code which would force them to always and only release the viewer as open source).
  13. Coming to Linden viewer near you soon.
  14. hashtag or keyword spamming will degrade your visibility. YT analyses the actual spoken content of videos with an AI model and that itself has an impact. We're way way past simple keywords.
  15. Elon is just trying to skip out on the deal because .. shock surprise .. he was never actually going to buy bird site and the whole adventure has just been yet another 100% on brand stock manipulation
  16. Parcel lines on the Mini map was a Catznip feature that got pulled from us into firestorm and others years ago. So seeing as we did not contribute this to @Linden Lab, nor did anyone from LL contact us about the code, I am curious why they didn't come poke us (when this is the entire point of third party viewers and we make a point of showing up to TPV meetings with Linden Staff and have done consistently for years !!) Especially as ours draws the lines onto the mini map texture so only needs to be done once per region (and highlights parcels that deny entry in red etc), where as LL's code draws the lines every frame.
  17. The screen shot will only show what is on your screen. HUDS can be outside the screen area. The instructions I posted explain how to do this. I verified this worked in Kokua before posting.
  18. As I posted in the other thread ... Easy work around. Add the relay HUD and make sure its unlocked (I recommend the DEM relay HUD) Edit it on your HUD, scroll down on the mousewheel and move the HUD outside of the rectangle. Detach and reattach the HUD (this saves the position). Right click on it in inventory to get to the menu and lock it. One Locked HUD attachment that wont show up in screen shots.
  19. Bots in SL are over reported, yes they exist, but not in the huge numbers some might suggest. Those that are used come in two flavors. The fairly active "survey" bots that constantly teleport around gathering region statistics, and utility bots that perform group invites or populate AFK sex places. Gaming traffic was a use for bots, but that has sloped off since stores no longer depend on in world locations as a primary income, the event ecosystem (and weekend sales especially) have largely replaced that practice with real people. AFK or silent avatars are often mistaken for or accused of being bots, when likely they are real people who aren't following local chat or have no desire to respond to inane "how r u" attempts at conversation. People do log into SL for extended periods, plenty stay logged in while they are sleeping. There was a period recently where access to SL was broken for all clients using an external library to connect to SL, this did not affect regular users on regular full fat viewers, only bot clients. This resulted in barely any impact to the live feed of active user stats. SL is also really large, we all have homes and private spaces, and only a fraction of us are online at any given time .. and those who are clump up. So SL can feel empty regardless of what the published population count might state. I've written an open source script that will show the ebb and flow of SL population during the day from live published stats. https://github.com/0xc0ffea/SecondLife-PopulationMeter
  20. Easy work around. Add the relay HUD and make sure its unlocked (I recommend the DEM relay HUD) Edit it on your HUD, scroll down on the mousewheel and move the HUD outside of the rectangle. 21. That's a rough road. The only thing you yourself can ever say with any certainty about what you deserve, is that you deserve to be happy. If it makes you happy, keep doing that. Especially if you feel guilty about it. Target the guilt not your own well being and burn it out with self indulgence. We can only make the best decisions with the intent and information we have in the moment. We're more than capable of making terrible decisions, eyes wide open, on purpose. Don't dwell on the ones that didn't work out or the missed opportunities. Hindsight really is 20/20, and it can sod off. To oops is literally what makes us human. Other people don't get a say on the amount of "stuff" you can have, especially when those who might judge probably have more "stuff" and more accessible space to stuff it. Don't let other people (especially imaginary ones) define you in any way at all. I have ADHD. Clutter is a way of life. Just keep going though it one pile at a time, enjoy it and find a new home for the bits that have served their purpose. Don't forget to add more new stuff, because that's fun. My life has bombed back to a suitcase more than once, and as neat and empty as my home looked once I got back on my feet, It wasn't worth it.
