  1. Right .. So, are LL going to hire a team of legally qualified moderators to inspect every single post before publishing it, or are they just going to close the forum.
  2. How do you imagine any public forum would operate post section 230 ?
  3. It would kill the entire grid, and much of the social internet as we know it. Proponents of removing section 230 often cite its removal as a way only censor objectionable or illegal content, however the remaining burden would be such that absolute censorship is the only possible practical or financially viable outcome. It is a technical (and legal) impossibility for any platform or corporation to sign off on the explicit legality of all their users actions all of the time. A service that is liable for all the actions of it's users can't simply police those actions to tighter standards, it must prevent user actions or they can and will be held liable for everything. All so some can force authoritarianism, be it government or a service provider, the boot must come down because should it fail to, a bigger boot will come for it. The EFF cover this in far more detail and go into how section 230 underpins everything we have built online. https://www.eff.org/issues/cda230 https://www.eff.org/issues/cda230/infographic
  4. The could be setting it manually .. either with a scripted "titler" or a custom group tag. No fancy required.
  5. Woohoo!! The updated landing page is up I love everything about it, can't wait for the community page. Second Life genuinely is quite magical for LGBTQ+ folk, self discovery and self expression. https://secondlife.com/community/pride Thank you @Linden Lab @Strawberry Linden
  6. I'm sorry you're having problems We can't help you, the only thing you can do is file support tickets, be patient or perhaps call them ..
  7. Mesh heads do take some getting used to and can easily dip you in the uncanny valley, I spent days playing with mine (catwa catya) just and finally just decided to live with it for a week and see how I felt after that. Recently pulled a previous 'pre mesh' me out of retirement to find some long lost stuff I had made, and was taken aback by how crude the head looked in comparison to what I have now. I've recently been paying with Lel head demos and finding myself in the same "this is just weird" place I was when I started. Not happy barely begins to cover it.
  8. The ole anxiety and depression are at an all time low, so I'm going to do my best to get out there and make the most of it this year, especially after the last few years stuck indoors. The RL plan is to get all dressed up and go to NY Pride with a group of friends, hoping for a nice day that isn't going to be scorcher! As for SL, I really have no plans yet (hence the thread tbh).
  9. Happy Pride Month! Our annual commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall riots and the long journey from there to here, ongoing civil rights progress and struggles, personal journeys and right to self expression. What are you doing this year? In or out of SL? Found anything fun in world? Post any pictures of decorations and outfits, merch made by other residents, events, celebrations and protests. Please note. This is not the time or the thread to debate the "LGBTQ+ agenda", the rights of LGBTQ+ people to exist or be visible in or out of SL, air out the ole free speech or get into a political fist fight.
  10. Deliberately removing the context of that singular word is disingenuous and arguing in bad faith, or do you presume us all stupid.
  11. I think it's an attempt to do something, anything, to stop VRChat eating all the expressive options in the room combined with a "return to the source, lets all reread snowcrash" approach to innovation. We're just a sea of Brandys and Clints, the crudest virtual class. Gonna take a lot more than facial expressions to fix this lunch, but it will be something those who don't actually participate in SL can pat themselves on the back over .. while they gleefully attempting to retread old ground and get serious business back .. for all the good that will do. Have your meetings in SL! Your avatars can pull faces now! VRChat have the recipe right, it's an entertainment platform first and foremost, if people do serious stuff there, good for them. Back to making the entertainment better. I swear LL are forever doomed to constantly chase a crowd of people who don't actually want to use SL, but are too polite to say no.
  12. The problem is there are no shortage of public "explorer" friendly locations in SL, the vast majority of builds and homes are wide open for anyone to come and go as they please, especially when there is no-one home. It's easy to roam privately owned mainland for hours on end and not have a single problem, the whole of Belli is "explorer" friendly to all, and lets not even mention the thousands of public access private regions & estates .. Zindra gets more touchy but that's to be expected considering the intent behind Zindra. The complaints here are from a few people demanding the rights to enter all locations without distinction under the guise of "exploration". It's not enough that they can already wander free to their hearts content almost everywhere. They are aggressively advocating specifically for the additional right to enter the few places they are not permitted because the owner of the location has chosen, for their own personal reasons, not to permit it. That those last remaining few people should be forced to permit unwanted entry. If that's starting to sound creepy in the worst possible way, that's because it absolutely is, those pushing for it here have demonstrated a complete inability to even consider that someone might have a boundary that doesn't in some way carve out an exception for themselves.
  13. This discussion is about having the right to enter all parcels under the pretext of "exploring". Lag has nothing to do with it and at this point is just an attempt to excuse bad behavior. One should .. whatever, the point is .. YOU DONT. If you are on private land (and all land in SL outside of designated public spaces) is private land, you are subject to the rules of the land owner. This is a fundamental corner stone to devolved moderation in SL. The land owner is king on their land. If that land owner doesn't want an "explorer" they are well within their rights to not have an "explorer" problem. They do not need consider the needs, hopes, dreams or boundaries of the "explorer". No. Means. No. No isn't conditional or negotiated. No. Means. No. Always.
  14. Are you actually for real with this? Read that back again .. the intruder who is violating someone's private space is having their boundaries violated. REALLY?
  15. Obviously you absolutely can't if you're only willing to respect my boundaries on your terms.
  16. The problem is not my desire to be spared the unwelcome intrusions of people who obviously have no concept of boundaries at all. Talking like the entire concept of respecting other people's space and privacy is just weird and alien. YIKES
  17. That would be a pretty big indication that an aircraft is not welcome on their land. Yet "explorers" persist. How exciting. Just the tip. There is no way any such difference can be assumed. If you have been stalked or harassed in SL, every single unknown person entering your personal space is a threat. It's only for a minute. How, exactly, do you propose one tell the difference between a harmless "explorer" and creeper or stalker. Hi, how r u? Which is defeated the instant someone enters your parcel boundary, not a few seconds later or depending on them being a nice person.
  18. I propose that "explorers" take a moment to find out if the parcel they are about to enter is a public or private space, and if the later, respect the owner and avoid it entirely. Any unwanted intrusion is a violation of privacy. There is no minimum time required for something to become a a violation. Leave now means right now. You are advocating a right to roam and the end result of which is the right of every rando to walk into your property under the guise of being an "explorer", invade your privacy and personal space for a certain amount of time requiring the home owner to make generous presumptions about their intent. No means no. Even in SL.
  19. It is accessible, it has public roads, waterways and innumerable public builds. Just like real life. However, there is mixed in with that a whole lot of private and personal spaces. Just like real life. Your ability to "explore" in SL is no different. You don't get to randomly enter private houses. Truly fortunate you haven't had to deal with this to the point its become an actual problem and a orb was the best solution. Don't forget that for people who rent mainland, a security orb is their ONLY option for any parcel privacy. Are you suggesting people who rent are just SOL? If mainland came with a right of way for random "explorers" then it would be in the covenant or baked into the platforms rules. It isn't. It has been confirmed many times that security orbs are acceptable, even ones that eject or port home with zero delay, on mainland. You will note that Belli has different rules and is far more "explorer" friendly, they even go as far as to ban 3rd party orbs entirely. Could it be you've been working with an incorrect assumption about mainland all along?
  20. Probably should have .. I'm glad making your home a public brings you pleasure, that is your choice to make. I did the same when I had my own region for many years. However. It is always my choice concerning who to welcome into any of my locations in SL. That is very generous, however I do not wish to log into my home (that I am paying for, even when I am not using it), and have to kick random strangers out of my bed .. as I have had to do. As someone who has been stalked and harassed in SL, I have very low tolerance for random people in my personal spaces, especially people who presume they have some right to be there.
  21. Getting teleported home is not in anyway equivalent to getting "blown away".
  22. Oh please, this isn't about everyone and an amicable solution, it's about demanding the right to roam SL without boundary. The push back to your ideas in this thread alone are a storm in a teacup next to the mayhem that would be dumped on LL's door should they change the rules to facilitate this entitled nonsense.
