Oh dear, how long has this been so? I cannot say that I have noticed it....yet. It isn't viewer dependent I assume, being a server function.

I understand why some folk shy away from Rei2Aya's A/D/E outfits, but the K/E/N outfits are much less overtly sexual. At present I cannot look much further than her Kyokko outfit which seems to be a near perfect combination. Of course this is purely personal. The main objection of many to the R2 outfits is the lack of rigging options, since Maitreya is pretty much proscribed (but it is done SO well). You might look at A&Y outfits which are also well rigged though they are No Mod and Anabel's HUD is a sloth. Maitreya and Legacy are the options. I second the choice of Asteroidbox. Sadly the Neo-Japanese/Cyber options are limited if you prefer stuff that doesn't look like a cheap comic book.

Sadly, Linden Lab has never adhered to the maxim "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". They DO adhere to the maxim "Ooh, shiny!"

By the way Poconos still is running 467269 and it is 3pm PST And yes Poconos is Main Server (at least it was last week). I hope that reads better to you than it does to me 'cos it makes my eyes go squiggly trying to make english sense of it. ETA: at 3:20pm SLT Poconos is rolled but it clearly ain't over till the fat lady sings and I can't hear her yet.

@Mazidox Linden You are not reading what is posted, we CANNOT ACCESS the server version that was rolled to Main Server today! STILL. Once again I am led to the belief that LL is not fully in control of SL any longer.

@Mazidox LindenSo, the restarts are rolling and so far all seems well, my region rolled a bit earlier today and we are running the new server version. However nowhere that I know of can I find out exactly WHAT this new server version is or does. Why are we still not able to access the notes? There was no release thread post last week so there is no other reference that I see that gives access to the notes.

@Kyle BlackwoodI can see issues with new IP addresses being used since some ISPs and VPNs use dynamic IPs routinely. Whether that would create a large pushback I don't know but I suspect the potential issues would be sufficient to kill that idea.

Today Second Life was scheduled to undergo System Maintenance from 4am PST. At 5am PST that work was said to be completed. Now, at just after 9am PST, the Grid Status Page has a blue banner saying that the system is under Maintenance. Again, or has someone not changed the header? If there IS further work being done where is the header for it, the banner alone means almost nothing on its own. Is this another example of the "Oh, it's not working like we thought it would" syndrome? ETA some hour later: No, a simple mistake, all green again for now

@Theresa TennysonIn my line of RL work, there WAS no room for error. If I made a mistake either by ommision or commisiom, someone most likey would die! And on my terms I was being nice, I have a very great deal of respect for many Linden Lab employees and I considered my remarks measured, mild and entirely reasonable. Others may think otherwise, that is their right. If my words are not considerd fair by the powers that be, so be it.

Umm, excuse me @bigmoe Whitfield but this is their JOB. They get paid to do it. So did I and if I didn't do my job people complained. It's not as if this new code deploy was an unexpected happening.

This is faintly ludicrous. There is an RC Channel roll in progress, we know the software version being rolled to at least some regions and yet there is no post in the release thread from LL and the release notes information is being withheld from us. Just what sort of corporate idiocy is this? One week we have LL staff freely disseminating information, the next this. It's not even consistently poor performance...but then, this IS SL.

And just why in the name of sweet reason are you restarting Main Server this week? Did you still manage to miss some regions after two attempts? FETA: I wonder, having re read Rider Linden's post above, whether that was a tacit admission that for some reason the simulators need restarting every 7 days again. More memory leaks, perhaps? @Xen ZelnikFirst thought and definitely characteristic of the symptoms- "whitelist" the viewer it's settings files and the cache in your Antivirus, whatever type you use. Remember that if you have no OEM AV on your computer, Windows Defender WILL be running and that is just the same.

There will no doubt be an official note on the Second Life website, possible in the Second Life wiki, but I don't have the url to hand. Main Server (also called Second Life Server) channel comprises about 80% of Second Life regions and is conventionally restarted and/or rolled to a new simulator version on Tuesdays. The RC (Release Candidate) channel comprises several smaller sets of regions, determined on the whole, by Linden Lab as required and are the first to receive new simulator versions, restarting and/or rolling on Wednesdays. There are occasions when regions may be restarted outside these times, in the case of Mainland, which is exclusively "owned" by Linden Lab, by the Lab, or in the case of private regions, by either the "owners" or land managers. I put owned in quotation marks since in reality all regions are owned by Linden Lab, indeed they own all aspects of Second Life. Private ownership is merely a form of leasing.

That method is only true if the RC channels are actually on a different simulator version. Recently on several occasions the entire grid has been running the same simulator version and your method is of no use, as Arabella notes. The only really foolproof method is to have restart monitors on several regions and to then note the day on which the region rolls. Even this method is rendered less useful when, as has happened to a few regions this year already, either the region is "missed out" of a roll, or is rolled/restarted on a non-standard day, such as Monday.

Well, I guess I must be the lucky one at the moment, Woods got a restart...again.

This is symptomatic of the inexplicable decision-making processes extant within LL. Maxidox "explained" in the last post on last week's release thread that they felt that as a result of the failure of that week's Main Server roll to complete in a timely manner, they would not even attempt to complete the roll, citing that it would reduce confusion. All that did was kick the can of confusion down the road by a week. What then were the restarts on Monday, reported both last week and this?

@Caleb Lindenfor the second time, what does "bounced" mean? Are the regions themselves made of rubber, that would explain the "rubber banding", I suppose. The Main Server regions were restarted last week, so why would ANY of them need a restart this week?

Going by what Mazidox said last week it seems highly unlikely that there will be any restarts to Main Server regions tomorrow, despite the Status Page announcement which appears to be automatic. The restarts that Hyperplexed mentions give me some cause for concern, but we cannot expect any revelations from LL, it's just not their style. SL used to be reasonably predictable but that phase is now past.
