  1. Just to add my experience of micro-freezes and stutters, it seems that the last 4 or 5 Nvidia GPU drivers have caused a lot of minor but irritating issues in games that used OpenGL graphics so it is very possible that this is part of the issue. I have stuck at 497.23 which is one of the least "sticky" drivers of the recent batch. NVidia release drivers with minor tweaks that are intended to improve in-game experience for players but it my experience that they make liitle or no difference to SL. I tend to think that a bit like LL, they are too interested in the latest "shiny" tweak to bother fixing some of the more difficult failures in their software. Quite why the recent NVidia drivers have caused these micro-freezes on Win 10 systems I have no idea and I cannot seem to find out either. Maybe I am fortunate not to have suffered the major freeze/lock-ups described above since a couple of major ones some months ago, but the stuttering is a real pain. I use a GTX 1660Ti GPU with a Ryzen 3950 CPU and 32GB RAM.
  2. Reading the above I am perhaps fortunate that Woods of Heaven DID get a restart today! The pity of it is that having been nice and stable, it looks as though the restart put us on a poorly performing simulator, and the script performance is nothing like as good, sometime dropping to 85%, though the TD seems stable. While I have no proof of issues, the fact that several regions have been missed (AGAIN) and the Roll took 8 hours all point to things not having gone smoothly.
  3. I'd be happy if I received my group notices INWORLD, never mind in email! About 50% of my groups' notices never arrive at all!
  4. The obvious answer (to me) is to get onto LL support with the issue. If it is an issue via the LL viewer they should react and it may simply need the region to be restarted.
  5. *sigh* @bigmoe WhitfieldWhat I said was precisely what had been discerned in world by Firestorm Support staff in conjunction with LL. It was not my supposition. Whether it was the actual login server or a related process is neither here nor there.
  6. Bloody Hell. Reading the above discourse between you two has reduced my mind to jelly and if I had ANY idea of what you were saying at the outset, I have well and truly lost the plot now.
  7. One of the login servers is down. If your avatar Key (theUUID) begins with a b, it is likely that you won't be able to log in at present.
  8. Just my two penn'orth here. 1) 8Mb bandwidth is far too high, even though most data comes down the line as http now. I see no improvement over about 1500 and higher values lead to increased packet-loss. 2) That 2.4% packet-loss can cause all manner of issues when two-way data flow is needed (like when driving a vehicle). 3) I assume you have "white-listed" the viewer, it's cache and its settings in your AV. If not you'll be getting freezes every time your AV scans your files. Whitelisting advice is given on the firestorm wiki.
  9. This lack of sharing info would not bother me as much if I thought that the Server Team or the rest of LL had more than a vague idea of what they were doing. It all looks more and more like "toggle it on and off until it seems to be working".
  10. @Grumpity Lindenso you are still picking up the pieces, I assume? Let's hope there are no more breakages today. I have to say that an operation that cannot notice that they are 1) double posting on their own status page and 2) seemingly unable to differentiate between PDT and PDT is seriously underperforming. Why would anyone be surprised at ANY operational breakages. ETA at roughly 10:30am PST 25/01/2022: Guess what....login servers are giving issues, inworld group member lists are not loading...oh and Linden Dollar purchasing is down (I bet that gets fixed quickly). FETA an hour later: all issues seem to have been sorted. Thankyou LL engineers
  11. No Solar it isn't, it's called poor performance, or failure for short. I use SL for my entertainment because my RL is severely restricted, so when I cannot access most of it I get cranky, my problem.
  12. @Solar Legion so typical of the American attitude of "they can do as they please"...yes they can, and we can complain as we please too. Over the years since 2008 I have spent over 30,00$US on SL and I think that gives me some right to complain when they repeatedly **** up. "Unacceptable"...it's not as if we have much choice, but we don't have to like it! The current SL is very flawed and has far too many hiccups. In this day and age and with the level of technical ability that LL are supposed to possess, it is a very poor performance in some respects.
  13. @arabellajonesYes well, that old walnut Timezones. As another Brit I am well used to it. Time and again we are reminded that timezones are a factor. Anyone would think that any other time than Pacific or Eastern is irrelevant. Should I accept that Linden Lab are incapable of forward planning? I simply cannot believe that the rest of the world East of the USA are irrelevant to LL. We are repeatedly subject to blindsiding due to our timezone. Linden Lab and AWS may be American but SL is global.
  14. This puzzles me. Last week on Tuesday Main Server regions were rolled to version 567269 and the following Wednesday RC channel regions were "bounced" but remaining on 567269 according to Caleb. That would indicate that there would be nothing to promote to Main Server regions this week and all Main Server regions had a restart, so no restarts would be necessary. Yet the automated announcement still stands on the Grid Status Page, a few hours before any roll would start. Anyone planning any building or landscaping would be holding off, following recent issues of sim-states not being accurately saved. For what? I'm not naiive enough to expect any info on plans for the RC channels until at best later today but for the bulk of SL, surely we are due a little clarity?
  15. Mea Culpa, it was a transient issue. By the time I'd spoken with TJ on Live Chat all was back to normal. ETA: It seems that there is a transient slow response from most if not all of SL's ancillary sites which may be down to a slow or poorly server somewhere.
  16. Any attempt to reach SL's Marketplace is yielding a 504 Gateway Error message. I am going to inform Live Chat.
  17. I have, for some time now, made a point of re-attaching, to various attachment points, rigged mesh items that used the default attachment, so that I do not have a plethora of items attached at the Right Hand. It does not seem to speed up or slow down loading of my avatar significantly. What I find has the largest effect on loading of my avatar is if I use Bakes on Mesh to apply a skin to my mesh body (Maitreya Lara). Quite often I find that although my avatar is visble to me I am a cloud to others. On occasions such as this I usually log in clouded but resolve within a few seconds (in my view). This only seems to occur when I use BoM and I notice that if I then revert to a standard applier skin on the Lara and add a body alpha, that alpha may take a few seconds (maybe c20) to load. I don't think this is an artifact of a poor connection at my end, since all other parameters (data-rate, ping etc) seem good. I first noticed this phenomenon some months ago, especially the slow intial loading of my avatar, though the persistent clouding to others seems only to occur when I use BoM. I wonder why this should be? I use Firestorm in its most current version.
  18. I should've known, the Lindens were too quiet! I knew they were up to something and if they can work this sort of magic on the render pathway we'll all be even happier (even me).
  19. @Lucia Nightfireat the risk of proving myself blind (again) where is the video and where is the post in which you point to it?
  20. @Chloe MineffCheck in the build tab (UI top menu) that you have not checked "select only my objects" in options. Having that checked will do what you are seeing.
  21. I'm intrigued by this concept. Are the sim-servers now made of rubber that they can be bounced and if so, how high do they bounce? I must assume that all assets are equally "bounce-proof".😝
  22. And this is hardly a surprise...looks like LL just went ahead and promoted the bug. Way to go LL. ETA after the region rolled at 10am SLT: Well it seems the bug is not affecting my main account, after 2 logins no "???.???" yet my original account sees 3 offline friends as "???.???". all online friends appear as normal and the ones that are offline ARE offline so I guess I am the lucky one. Script run for my region is now as promised at100%!
  23. @Linden LabUnfortunately, it looks as though today's Roll to Main Server regions will promote the bug with names that has been widely experienced on RC channel regions referred to in this JIRA: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-231680
