  1. By 'eck time flies...now it's: © 2022 Linden Research, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
  2. Hmm, I just looked and I see: © 2021 Linden Research, Inc. All Rights Reserved. And yes I know it is April 1st but it is past noon (at least it is for me).
  3. That is precisely what I was talking about! To be able to correctly render the mesh, your graphic processor needs all of the data. It simply isn't getting it in a timely way, maybe not at all. Your connection simply cannot supply the data stream as required in a consistent manner. This issue is only made worse if several, or perhaps many, others are also sharing your connection.
  4. @Nikita Neumanahh....frankly in your circumstances I am not in the least surprised that your connection to SL keeps dropping. Your WiFi signal is unlikely to be stable enough or strong enough for reliable SL. I assume that connection to the net via a wired connection is not an option? If not I do not think your SL will reliably work. When you stand still the data flow is not high, but on TP or much movement and change of view, the connection needs to be able to transmit a lot of data quite quickly. Transient packet loss, which I am fairly certain you will get, is more than enough to get you turfed out.
  5. @Jhadzia Mfumelook at this link https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/antivirus_whitelisting This might help. There is a related wiki entry that refers to run crashes, https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_run_crash
  6. @Nikita NeumanCould this problem be due to an aggressive Firewall or Antivirus, I wonder. I assume you have allowed the viewer executables ( .exe files) through the firewall and whitelisted it and the associated cache and settings folders? For Firestorm (and by analogy all viewers) has instructions here: https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/antivirus_whitelisting
  7. We knew that there'd not be new code on Main Server this week, since there was nothing new for the RC channel last week but there has been no notice as yet and the RC roll is already more than 2 hours gone, I assume there is no new code for the RC channel this week either.....or is there? ETA: well the roll is over and nothing in here so I guess it was just a "bounce" again.
  8. @kevin Jerrold I am seeing a problem even from those limited specifications you published. Running a 64 bit viewer with less than 4GB RAM is unlikely to work. The viewer will try to access a great deal more than 4GB in fairly ordinary operation and it you have ANY other applications running, including but by no means limited to your antivirus application, you will most likely get a "not responding" message from the viewer. The CPU, with integrated graphics is never going to provide you with more than a basic view of SL but it is the low RAM that is killing your viewer(s).
  9. @Jhadzia MfumeI will assume that when you say your settings are reset on login that they reset to the default: It sounds to me as though you are having a "silent crash" on logout. I don't know the best course of action for you, I assume your viewer and its files are "whitelisted" in your system's antivirus and that the viewer .exe file is allowed through your Firewall. All those processes are detailed in the Firestorm wiki and they apply just as well to other viewers.
  10. Reading all this, including some oddly short-sighted comments from those who know better, is disappointing. The spikes in "sim ping" (or as SL Stats would have it ping sim) are directly proportional to the FPS (I'm sure you realise this) since the render time component of the sim ping is inversely proportional to the frame rate the viewer achieves, as Henri points out. I assume that being an experienced user both of PCs and of SL you have taken the obvious (to me) step of ensuring that your Antivirus programme is operating properly and all your viewer executables and folders and files are suitably whitelisted. The artefacts you are seeing point to something periodically mopping up processor capacity on your PC and while you might have whitelisted stuff before some update, whether it be your OS, GPU or antivirus itself might have invalidated those entries. It can't harm to simply whitelist all over again.
  11. Wow. I live in the UK and have absolutely no intention of travelling the Atlantic (certainly not in a yacht) just to go to a yacht show. I cannot think of a much greater waste of resources that that (except possibly spending any longer on a computer refuting your delusions).
  12. I make just one small comment here, @MichaelCorleone Losangeles: You posit a set of circumstances where you see a personal financial gain. You then would insist on Linden Lab changing its ToS to allow it, heedless of the general unfavourable reaction of most users. I have to assume you are one of nature's incorrigeable optimists.
  13. I don't know if the developers of Speedlight have sorted out the inventory issues it causes but unless they have this should be avoided at all costs.
  14. Any chance of a link to the release notes, @Mazidox Linden? Pretty please?
  15. What is your version number? I am pretty sure 6.4.21 is not that old. It was released at the end of July. I must admit that's a lot longer ago than I thought! I believe (hope) that there is an update coming soon.
  16. Forget it. For some reason my browser only showed Mazidox's post just now.
  17. Oh dear, how long has this been so? I cannot say that I have noticed it....yet. It isn't viewer dependent I assume, being a server function.
  18. I understand why some folk shy away from Rei2Aya's A/D/E outfits, but the K/E/N outfits are much less overtly sexual. At present I cannot look much further than her Kyokko outfit which seems to be a near perfect combination. Of course this is purely personal. The main objection of many to the R2 outfits is the lack of rigging options, since Maitreya is pretty much proscribed (but it is done SO well). You might look at A&Y outfits which are also well rigged though they are No Mod and Anabel's HUD is a sloth. Maitreya and Legacy are the options. I second the choice of Asteroidbox. Sadly the Neo-Japanese/Cyber options are limited if you prefer stuff that doesn't look like a cheap comic book.
  19. Sadly, Linden Lab has never adhered to the maxim "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". They DO adhere to the maxim "Ooh, shiny!"
  20. Followed @Solar Legion's advice. Problem solved, User error. Mea Culpa.
  21. Now don't get all existential on me @Mazidox Linden! I only saw how soon after your post I slapped my comment in after I hit the save comment button. By the way Poconos still is running 467269 and it is 3pm PST And yes Poconos is Main Server (at least it was last week). I hope that reads better to you than it does to me 'cos it makes my eyes go squiggly trying to make english sense of it. ETA: at 3:20pm SLT Poconos is rolled but it clearly ain't over till the fat lady sings and I can't hear her yet.
  22. @Mazidox Linden You are not reading what is posted, we CANNOT ACCESS the server version that was rolled to Main Server today! STILL. Once again I am led to the belief that LL is not fully in control of SL any longer.
  23. @Mazidox LindenSo, the restarts are rolling and so far all seems well, my region rolled a bit earlier today and we are running the new server version. However nowhere that I know of can I find out exactly WHAT this new server version is or does. Why are we still not able to access the notes? There was no release thread post last week so there is no other reference that I see that gives access to the notes.
  24. @Kyle BlackwoodI can see issues with new IP addresses being used since some ISPs and VPNs use dynamic IPs routinely. Whether that would create a large pushback I don't know but I suspect the potential issues would be sufficient to kill that idea.
