  1. The group bonus is 10% of the total tier donated to the group - so if you've only donated 1870 sqm, then 178 sqm might be the correct amount that you have available. Though usually if you don't have enough tier in the group you get a message about needing to increase your tier level. I would suggest trying setting your donated tier for the group to 2048 and see if that allows it to go through. Also make sure that your group tag you're buying the land for is currently active when trying to do the land buy. If that doesn't work, then I'd suggest replying on the support ticket (that you had created to request the land) with a comment about the problem you are having. I always leave the support ticket for requesting abandoned land open until I've successfully purchased the land.
  2. The way I interpreted what Patch said about 2048 LH's and downgrading to regular premium was that you'd need to have your LH at 1024 sqm or less to downgrade. I think it was regarding mainland parcels that'd you'd need to potentially tier up (or be automatically tiered up) if you were keeping more than 1024 sqm.
  3. Try right clicking directly in the address bar (where the parcel name displays) and the click "Show Coordinates" in the dropdown that appears.
  4. Even though you're using the Singularity viewer, I would stll check for any console logging that may have been activated under Singularity's Developer menu. Otherwise, if there is a group for Singularity viewer inworld, ask there. Also check their website for a place to ask questions or to see if there are any troubleshooting FAQ's.
  5. There has not been anything said about the $249 a year going up in price - it is only the monthly fee that has an introductory time-limited discount, and the monthly discount amount and the monthly regular fee are both clearly marked on the pricing screen. If you are currently a premium member, and move to premium +, you may get a discounted amount (less than the$249 for the first year) because they will pro-rate the amount based on how much of your current premium term is left.
  6. You would be charged for the full 4096m at your next monthly tier billing (tier is billed in arrears for the largest amount of tier you held during that billing cycle). Probably the best thing to do would be to create a new group, have the other people you plan to split the land with donate their tier to the group, donate you part of the tier to the group, and then buy the land for that group. Be sure to have that group active when you go to buy the land.
  7. That looks like a new security feature that LL had announced a bit ago:
  8. On the silver lining side of things, at least they are not using region resources. I'd rather have empty land around me than a breedables farm, or a club, or a huge store full of full-bright vendors. Are there other directions you could expand out to, or can you expand out on the other side of these properties? If land is group owned, and depending on its size, they may have the monthly tier covered by premium accounts, so are not paying land tier each month, but instead renew premium memberships annually. Four premium accounts can cover the tier for a 4096 sqm parcel.
  9. Hello Marian, and welcome to SL. If you're looking for a job, you would want to check over in the Inworld Employment - Second Life Community part of the Forum. However, seeing as you're only 1 day old, I would suggest spending some time to get acquainted and familiar with how SL works before looking for a job. There is a certain amount of familiarity and possibly some expectations about how you style/customize your avatar for many jobs. Spending time in SL and checking out various places, learning how to get around, etc., will also help you figure out what you might want to say on your profile. Looking at some of the posts in the Inworld Employment section will give you some ideas about what types of jobs there are, and let you decide what type of jobs you might be interested in. Having a job in SL is not something that is necessary but can be something interesting to do in-world. Many jobs are not going to pay large amounts of L$'s, so I'd suggest buying L$'s, if possible, until you've spent some time getting familiar with things and then possibly looking for a job more for the enjoyment and experience, rather than as just a way to earn L$'s.
  10. I think part of the limitations on homesteads in regards with land impact, number of scripts, and number of avatars allowed has to do with the number of homesteads on a server instance and is also why they are less expensive than full regions. If limitations were increased and how homesteads were allocated in order to remain performant had to be changed, it might also change the cost factors that are used in determining the monthly cost. If a homestead region really doesn't meet your needs, and you are not able to find alternative yet still acceptable content that fits within a homestead's limitations, it might be time to consider a full region instead.
  11. I don't block others on the forums, but I also don't see the need to reply on every thread. I also don't see the need to keep posting over and over in the same thread to try to convince others that their viewpoint or perspective is wrong*. If I am really irritated or find a post offensive, I may post one or possibly two replies stating my opinion, or I may decide to just scroll on past, not replying at all. * My first online forums experience was a religious denomination's forum, so I know the futility of trying to change firmly held opinions of others.
  12. You can either try to sell it to another resident before your next payment, or you can submit a support ticket telling LL you would like to abandon it. See the "Transferring or Cancelling Private Region Ownership" section of the Private Regions Knowledge Base article for the specifics:
  13. It's possible to create a support ticket as a guest without having to be logged in to your account - when you click on the link to create the support ticket, a message comes up that you are not logged in to your account and presents an option to either "log in" or to "continue as a guest". This should allow your friend to create a support ticket to have her password reset without having to log in and without having to create an alt just to create a support ticket.
  14. There is also an in-world Slink group (free to join), and people in the group are usually very helpful. There should be a group joiner in the Slink store, or you can search for the group "Slink. Classy gear for classy babes" and then join from the group profile window.
  15. It looks like there was a good turn-out. I was hoping to be able to stop by, but RL wasn't cooperative.
  16. I think whether a store comes back or not is up to the owner and the reason why they stopped operating their store. Unless one had the unfortunate experience of being banned from SL, I'm not aware of anything that would prevent the owner from re-opening their store at some point, if that was what they wanted to do.
  17. I am not making any changes in SL due to the addition of sales tax (which in my city is 9%). If I have to pay it, it will only add $0.63 to my monthly tier bill, and it will add $8.91 to the cost for an annualized premium account charge 3 times a year (3 premium accounts due at different times of the year). I haven't reached any of the due dates yet, so I don't know for sure how the description of the services being billed fall under the California State tax regulations.
  18. It might be that "bruckner" is enough to bring up the account name, as both the display name and the account name start with the same letters. When I search for an account name in a group, I always start with the account's first name without the last name, and then few the 1 or several account names that are returned by the search (not with the firstname.lastname). Based on what I just tried in a group member list, if your display name was "david", I don't believe it would return "bruckner.dreddmor" but would probably return some other account name(s) that started with "david" if there was one, otherwise would return no results. I searched in a group member list for "John" for someone whose display name starts with "John" and did not get any results returned. I then searched for "Jon" which is their account first name, and the search returned them correctly. As I said earlier, I do have my preferences set to always show both display name and account name in chat - I don't know if this affects how the search works in group member lists. My suggestion would be to search by account name, but enter just the first part up to the "." and only add the "." and last name if just the first name returned so many rows of accounts with that first name that it is unmanageable to visually find the one you are looking for.
  19. Built myself a little rustic cottage up on the forest level of the Antiquity RP regions. The doors I had purchased pre-made, so they are mesh, but the rest I built from prims.
  20. Yeah, if the state doesn't get it one way, it will get it another way. I just realized last night looking up various sales tax rates, out of curiosity, that if I lived in the town just a couple of miles north of the city I live in, I'd be paying another .25 percent sales tax, and if I lived in the city a few miles south, I'd be paying an additional .50 percent sales tax. Best would be living in an unincorporated area with just state and county taxes, no city taxes included. I never really thought about checking sales tax rates in an area before deciding to move somewhere, but perhaps that's a good thing to do, nor did I think about that when doing a major purchase where I had a choice of stores in one or more of the close towns to choose from. For this situation, it's going to come down to how LL describes their service that we're paying for, and how that description falls or doesn't fall into a particular State's tax code.
  21. For me, the question isn't how much tax would be charged - I know what the local sales tax rate is in my town, so I can calculate what that amount would be for an annual premium subscription or for monthly land fees. What I'm not sure about is whether I would be charged the sales tax or not, so until my annual premium comes due, I'll just budget for the premium amount plus my locale's sales tax. It's not that hard to calculate and plan for that additional amount. Perhaps I'll be surprised if it's not collected in my State, and then I'll have a few extra dollars for buying L$'s. Either way, it isn't really a problem.
  22. Of course - don't know how that one slipped my mind. I've taken a lot of classes from there over the years.
