  1. Well-made mesh parts can often help reduce your overall land impact on a moving object (vehicle). In the past, the 32 prim limit applied and scripts would just 'shut-down' and no longer function to move the vehicle. That's somewhat a thing of the past now, however some scripts will still throw that error message back at you. Karyn's even has a script for vehicles over 32 prims. get that and drop it into the root prim and you're good to go. Good luck and have fun.
  2. When you are exploring try pressing SHIFT CTRL ALT 7 (simultaneously) on your keyboard and watch the seas "vanish". This handy little feature makes the water disappear from view so you can work unfettered terraforming, decorating or whatever. Press the same keys to return to normal. The water is still there and you will float, it's just invisible. If you drop below sea level you'll see the water again as you are now underneath it. You can still traverse the seas by boat, appearing to hover over the sea bed. While doing so, you can also see how much effect adding more textures to any given view will have on your graphics card with or without water (just as an example) as the water hides them during normal use. Removing the water exposes those textures to view and you'll see the difference in performance. I offer this because it's an interesting function and it can be useful for general overall viewing to locate large debris fields for exploration. Simply revert the water back to 'normal' and enjoy your dive.
  3. Everyone will have different requirements and results depending on their product(s) and business model. Primarily, I build and sell motorcycles with a store in-world and on Marketplace. Motorcycle sales are dependent on appearance, details, ride and handling. A virtual brick and mortar storefront enables customers to see and use the actual product in the same lighting and environment to which it is intended. Fit, finish and attention to detail are clear and obvious with little room for surprises. We all like free stuff to some degree. Having a gift available to everyone helps bring traffic to the store and shows your work. Customers that like your products can join your group and follow sales, events, specials, etc. A group gift helps grow that group. Good free stuff will bring people back and they tell their friends. Even the way you decorate your store reflects you, your product and your attitude. Sales will be erratic, probably like a roller coaster, but patterns will emerge over time. Plan ahead, be patient and most of all have fun with it. This works for me. Consider your goal(s) and it might fit for you as well.
  4. Thanks for everything you've done. I wish you the best in retirement.
  5. I build motorcycles in RL & in SL. The rolling chassis pictured is my personal bike; a work in-progress.
  6. I like those too and have yet to find one that's 'me'. Hope you find it.
  7. Look in your Region/Estate window on the Estate tab, there's a check box for "Allow Direct Teleport". That might be the issue.
  8. Interesting shapes. I haven't tortured prims in a long time and this makes me want to revisit them.
  9. First, make certain your alts can't edit your stuff (when checking permissions), because that may or may not work on transferred items depending on a few other factors. Let's try a simple example and see if this fits your problem. I use this as it's the most common cause of frustration I see people encounter while learning the fine art of permissions and it usually solves the problem. Full disclosure here: I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination. But, I do deal with permissions changes on a daily basis for whatever it's worth. YMMV In this example we'll place some textures, scripts, notecards, sounds and objects within a simple box to sell or transfer, using copy only permissions for the example. Once the box is filled, it is common for people to click COPY on the 1st page of the edit window, then move on to the contents tab, click permissions to COPY for the next person, change the permissions & done. By all outward & cursory appearances it does seem to you, and possibly your alts, that everything within is now copy only. However, looking at each item inside that box, checking the properties on each one separately you might find that the permissions are mixed between copy, mod, transfer, full perm or combinations thereof. Tedious as it might sound depending on how many items are involved, setting the permissions separately on each item and everything within each item should ensure the permissions are as you want them. Then, check, double check, triple check...you get the idea. Good luck.
  10. I love the cheap roadside motels found along Mainland routes while testing prototypes. Maybe I'll take the scenic route this year and ride to Mardi Gras instead of flying. Better photo ops & no TSA hassles. There's a gleaming long forked bagger in the garage with fresh oil & rubber.
  11. Check your firewall settings. I've seen Avast change them and make Firestorm/SL not function. Find what Avast objects to and 'allow' it.
  12. Yes, you can generally just ignore that error message for the most part. It can happen at seemingly random times from objects that worked perfectly just minutes prior as you attempt to sit or as you cross into another region seated in a moving vehicle (boat, plane, motorcycle, etc.). The scripts used by some content creators are more prone to this than some others. One of my motor vehicle scripts tends to do this once in awhile after about 50 region crossings and when it happens once, it'll happen at every region crossing thereafter unless I stop and wait for the servers to 'catch-up' and the error message icon disappears. Once that icon vanishes all works normal for awhile until another crossing causes it. A different vehicle script I use has almost no problems like that whatsoever. It can still occur but it's rare with that particular 'engine' script and even if it does appear, I can continue onward without it repeating. That particular script has been able to cross over 200 region crossings at moderate to high speeds without fail or with very minimal issues. I do a lot of vehicle testing on private regions, mainland & Blake Sea or other open waters. People that sail or fly a lot over mainland have seen this many times, it's a rather common, albeit annoying, experience. I see it happen mostly after a region crossing, but it can and does happen at other times, with no region crossings involved. It's not always the fault of the creator or that particular script. There are some issues and situations that can trigger this when it should not. That being said, poor scripting practices by the creator can also be the cause or make any particular script(s) more prone to this issue. YMMV
  13. To answer the original question I would suggest careful selection of hairstyles, makeup, eyes, earrings and maybe some eyewear. YMMV
  14. Marianne's Boutique had monthly group gifts and a really nice selection of clothing to purchase in her in-world store. This was before mesh.
  15. Yeah, it happens every year around the time school begins and shortly thereafter, some years better or worse than others due to lots of RL activities and expenses happening. With this weird COVID year, any deviation from previous years would not be surprising.
  16. I use the KCP Redirect Script in all the motor vehicles I build and sell. The 'engine' for my vehicles is my own, not KCP/ACS, so I have some familiarity with the KCP script, but I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination. That being said I can comment with experience on some of what you mentioned, but not all. The vehicle being prims or mesh makes no difference, it works equally with either. The "Can't enable physics for object with physics resource cost greater than 32" error message is caused by the main 'engine' script that powers the vehicle. In the past, moving objects had to be 32 prims or fewer in order to move/function. Changes came along allowing movement of larger land impact vehicles. KCP/ACS has a script that you can add to any mod permissions vehicle to allow other engine scripts to work if needed. It was available free on MP last time I looked. (Something like: "Free high prim / mesh support script for any vehicle (v4) KCP Over32"). Add that script to the root prim, just like you did with the Redirect script, and that should hopefully correct that concern. As far as the action of the vehicle immediately following redirect, I have no experience with trains, but I suspect that your problem might be caused by the train landing, or not landing, properly oriented on the tracks. When you go through the redirect 'port', upon landing with motorcycles/cars/trucks/boats, you don't necessarily land in the direction of the road/track/whatever and the vehicle itself travels a short distance forward. With most roads and on the water this is not a problem as the driver simply coasts, turns to orient in the direction of travel and rides onward. In your case the train is likely not landing on the tracks exactly the direction of travel in which the tracks were laid. This could be further complicated by the way in which R/R tracks in SL are constructed, but I'm not sure on this one as I've not tried what you are attempting. The R/R tracks, if I'm not mistaken, have an invisible center rail the trains follow. That might be the cause, as the train would probably have to land just right in order to proceed normally. It might be hitting that rail and diverting. You'll have to try that one. Just some things to consider. Good luck.
  17. I unbox then delete LMs, most advertising photos (unless I feel I need it to further ID the item without wearing it) & notecards if they have no important information I might need. Inside that item's folder I make another folder named "Other" & dump all the extra items made for different bodies or anything I know I won't be using any time soon. That way the folder is manageable & I only see those clothes/items pertaining to mine at that time plus the relevant HUD.
  18. If those shadows are not with the textures of the skybox, it's likely they were created with the use of different windlights. In Firestorm look for your quick preferences and the WL Sky; there's a drop down box to make selections from there. Try using those with your graphics preferences set to Advanced. There's many to choose from depending on the look or effect you're after. Good luck.
  19. I had this awhile back, it'd pop-up from time to time. In my case it was on a homestead that I owned, I was the only resident, it had my store & had been there for about 6 years. It turned-out to be caused by some vending machines of mine that would rez temp demos on display for customers to view & test ride. I never did find the exact causation, but every once in awhile one of the demos would get wonky, stuck or something. I'd get a similar message when I logged-on, but mine would actually state the object (temp rezzed demo) causing the malfunction, due to the name of the demo being in the rez script configuration. Shutting down & restarting the vending machine that rezzed that particular demo solved it. So, you might look into anything you have that will rez temp objects & maybe reset the scripts if you have mod permissions. Some might have the ability to turn on/off the temp objects & that might reset it. Or, try rezzing another one & deleting the offending one. Not sure if it'll work, but it's some simple things to try. Good luck.
  20. It's worth noting that all objects have bounding boxes surrounding them. The bounding boxes can be very close to the same size as the object or sometimes they can be much larger depending on a few factors during creation. If the bounding boxes are close to the same size as the visible object, then you can usually walk near them, sit under them, and so forth. If the boxes are too large then you find you can not even approach those objects. You might be standing or walking quite a distance from what is visible, as if it is surrounded by something solid and invisible, which in-fact, it is. Bounding boxes are not visible unless you elect to turn on the outline highlights. This is an advanced tool some creators use. It is amazing how many 'creators' have no clue about them though, hence there can be a lot of variation from object to object. This is why you will sometimes find that you can walk, run or ride very close to a particular object such as a tree, rock or land form; sit next to them or even go over them while driving in some cases. Other times you'll notice that you can't go near them at all due to over sized bounding boxes. A well made object by a conscientious builder should display characteristics similar to that which you would expect from the object. If it can be modified, setting the object to phantom makes them simply that, a phantom with only the visual appearance of that object as well as the attendant land impact.
  21. Jeggings are stretch jeans; like leggings made of skin tight stretchy denim.
  22. I sell motorcycles in SL and among my customers they seem to be pretty well divided 50/50 as avatars that are 'bikers' portraying the biker lifestyle like in an MC (motorcycle club) or riding lone wolf vs. people that just like to ride motorcycles and are more into clothing and fashion. A bit similar to the mods & rockers from the 60s in style & fashion, not so much in vehicle choice as most ride motorcycles compared to scooters. It does seem a large number of them are baby boomer age and retired or are approaching retirement age, just based on casual conversations with them inworld.
