  1. Lag on the client side (you & your computer) is a result of a number of factors, not the least of which is connection speed and graphics card/computer capability. This is commonly seen on group rides on motorcycle regions. I'm just saying there is server side and client side 'lag'. They are two very different animals.
  2. Yes, you can have both WASD & arrow keys active at the same time. I've been doing that since I started in SL & I've been around 9 or 10 years.
  3. I've always been a fan of wearing glasses in SL. This is just one pair of many.
  4. I should have explained that with the root prim on your property it counts against your prim count and it's not perceived as being on another person's land, although it might actually extend onto theirs a little bit. This is how off-sim objects and backgrounds work; the root prim remains on the owner's land with attached prims extending beyond. I hope this is clearer and helps.
  5. Create the section of road/path/driveway that you want to connect, texture it accordingly and link it to a transparent root prim, keeping the root prim on your parcel/property. If the root prim is on your property with a portion extending onto or over the side of the road on LL land, it should remain. Slope as needed. Do not link it to anything else or have the root prim over the property line.
  6. I remember the days when proficient shooting was one of the skill tests to join a motorcycle club. Building shooting ranges was also considered a much-desired part of any full-featured motorcycle club region/sim decor and used frequently. Targets were paper bullseye, cans, bottles, carnival shoots, skeet/trap clays, exploding drums & cars...etc. There were shoot houses, zombies, hostage rescue, competitive shooting, and just general plinking and blowing-up stuff. There's long range cannons that shoot across sim lines with exploding shells. Very cool stuff. Like many things they ebb and flow in popularity. My favorite has an animation whereas you turn away from the intended target, bending over grabbing your cheeks and a laser shoots out of your backside. That just never gets old.
  7. In the United States there are certain situations whereas it is required that you prove your employment status, often the result of an incident or activity to which you were involved. I'll just leave it at that. Those that need to report their status know what this means and it's likely not something they want to share openly. Using SL as proof of employment likely won't meet the requirement, but I understand the desire to make an attempt. Good luck with that.
  8. Using the name "Harley Davidson" is almost certain to draw unwanted attention.
  9. Add a transparent prim, linked to the object for sale. Edit the transparent prim to extend past the face of the glass so that the customer can touch it to purchase. They don't see the extension, but it's attached. Then add the item you are selling inside that object, using the original touchable object as a sales box.
  10. If the skybox is under a group of yours and you make any changes in the wording of the group description or in the description of that group, bots will start coming. Over the years I've noticed this on my own regions. I've seen it start within minutes of making changes.
  11. For my purposes I have the region on a 10 minute auto return with open rez everywhere. The residents prims were not on auto return (set within the group). Everyone could rez and in 10 minutes stuff was returned if they were not actually riding or sitting on it. Once they stand, auto return takes over. This way the residents could also rez anyplace, but their stuff was unaffected. This also works with no open rez and a dedicated rez area. It's not for everyone and their situation, but one that has worked for me.
  12. Leave the default for general group members, such as you might have a group joiner on a visitor board for example. For anyone with more than general rights or powers, such as your Residents, you would invite them yourself and while doing so can provide them with the proper role for your intended purpose.
  13. Look at the Roles. You can create separate roles (and titles) and give them different powers such as the ability to rez, among others. Some can have limited authority and powers while some have none at all, depending on purpose.
  14. It's great that you take this seriously in-regard to trademarks; not many do when it comes to names and logos. Trademark owners can locate product violations by sending an avatar in-world and shopping, but you can see this is not a very effective use of time and resources. More effective is searching keywords across the internet and MP is out there with many other real and virtual markets. Using H-D as the example, all model names are trademarked: Sportster, Fat Boy, Wide Glide, Slim Bob, Road Glide, etc. So, it's not just limited to the manufacturers name and logos. Animats is correct regarding H-D sales and I've seen some reports in some years as high as 25% on 'stuff', not motorcycles. You can see why they aggressively protect their brand. Stay away from any trade names and sales names that represent a manufacturer. Make-up your own unique name that people will recognize as being your version, variety or take on that particular item. Most of all, create, make stuff, build and have fun!
  15. I've noticed for quite some time, when using Firestorm Search, that often the search comes-up negative for that avatar name; about 50% of the time. However, at the top of the page, next tab over (People), search there and you'll find almost everyone.
  16. I fell in love with the mainland speed cams after the first encounter ...wow...like forever ago. And I'm with Aeth on this, they are a blast to try to set new records for the highest posted speed at the time. There's always a couple hidden someplace on my sim. When I encounter them on mainland it still puts a smile on my face as I put the spurs to 'er.
  17. Look within the group itself and create separate roles for the members with one role being specific to residents, giving them rez rights. That should fix the issue, if I'm understanding correctly. Good luck.
  18. I love riding all regions that have decent roads, private regions or mainland. +1 for the ocean floor!
  19. Full disclosure: I build and sell Moto Bazzi motorcycles using my own heavily modified scripts. Former KCP/ACS user and I still use a very few of their products, but not mainly. This is not about me, but about experience and observations. And, to set the record straight, in RL you do use the handlebars to steer, but this isn't about RL. SL motorcycles can run on several script 'engines' for the motion and operation of the bike. Cory Linden wrote the first motorcycle script and most bike scripts trace their roots back to that one, which is still available as an open source script. Several people have made attempts to come-up with their own scripts with varying degrees of success and some are heavily modified variations on Cory's original script. Karyn's Chopper Parts sells KCP/ACS scripts that have been around for a long time and they are the most widely used because of availability. They are based on Cory's script, but were heavily modified over the years and are now protected internally, but with careful modifications and adjustments in the menu you can tailor the ride within certain parameters. Some builders (raises hand), used KCP/ACS for awhile, then tried others, then modified, re-wrote, modified, cussed, swore, quit, started again, wrote and spent a lot of hours of seat time developing their own 'engine'. A lot of butt-in-the-seat riding on every imaginable region and road found, lag or no lag. In-fact, the more lag the better, as it shows the flaws faster. Those who spent a lot of time fine-tuning these are very protective of their creations and are often no-mod. The parts and how they are used also has direct impact on the ride and function. Some bike scripts use notecards for configuration, although they seem to be in less use than others. Information on adjusting KCP/ACS scripts is readily available with a Wiki search on the internet. They are in common usage with literally thousands of builders in SL, though few of them understands how to properly set-up a bike. Some no-mod scripts use a menu with steering choices at the click of a single button within parameters built into the script or written by the creator. In mine, I use 3 presets (Street, Sport, Track) and inside each of those is written, no-mod parameters that change the speed, torque, braking, lean, turn-in and gravity in a progressive manner to simulate riding in RL. Many moons ago, I learned to ride on a KCP v3.0 on a crappy laptop with dial-up modem. Brutal! Today KCP/ACS scripts are v7.0 but even that one has not been updated in many, many years and it's full of a lot of extra bells & whistles for flying, cars, boats, motorcycles. It's a 'heavy' script so-to-speak and some of that comes at a cost when you cross regions. Just saying. Have fun. YMMV
