  1. Let’s not get crazy with calling furries the master race of SL. Also, comparing furries to anything else is pointless. For furries it was always like that with modding; it’s in the dna of the community. For everything else you have to have an interest in creating to be familiar with modding. Most people don’t have an interest in creating, going into menus, adjusting tabs, stretching jewelry, etc. If it requires too much work to use it becomes less and less worth the hassle. That’s why you have guys with dingalings that don’t match the rest of them and people in the Maitreya help chat saying “help! How do I wear my skin on this body? I’m wearing the skin...nothing is happening.” If it doesn’t come out of the box completely ready to use.....somebody is going to have a problem. I’m all for modding, but let’s be realistic. Most people would ***** it up. Face it modders, you’re outnumbered by....casual users.
  2. I think it has something to do with the lod, it goes crazy every once in a while when you tp somewhere. sometimes right clicking yourself and clicking edit will fix it. Sometimes, tp’ing a couple times will fix it, relogging always fixes it though.

Really it all comes down to your shape. Buying a shape isn’t really going to help you unless you do and use exactly what the original shape maker did. Even then, change your eyeliner or lipstick and you’ll look waaay different. Doing a head has a steep learning curve. When you’re starting out it’s going to be very frustrating. Change something too much or not enough and you end up looking crazy. So here’s what you do. First take all your makeup, hairbase, nose rings, etc out. Become a recluse for a couple days. I’m serious, lock yourself in your house or go to a quiet sandbox. Day one you’re going to spend some time getting the feel for the sliders. You’re not expecting perfection, you’re just going to build toward where you want. Certain sliders: head size, ears, etc are pretty self explanatory you’ll only have to mess with them once or twice. Other sliders: eyes, nose, jaw, cheeks, mouth, lips are the ones that are going to need fine tuning. This is why you’re going to need multiple days to do this. Chin and jowls don’t work, so you don’t need to worry about them. start with the eyes and nose. Do extreme stuff, really play with it. You’re doing this because every head is different and you need to see where the limits for the head are. Even a newer catwa is different from an older one as far as what you can do with them. The newer ones have larger eyes. Day one though concentrate on eyes and nose. Pan all around the head, zoom in and out get a really good look after every change. When you get it how you want it, generally, log off. Seriously...log off and go do something else. Day 2. Hopefully you didn’t try to do everything all at once. And you gave yourself a rest. Since you’ve given yourself a rest you’re going to notice little things you didn’t notice the other day. Go back and tweak those, hopefully they’re little adjustments. Now, mouth and jaws today. You’re going to play around again, make your lips really big, make them really thin, give yourself a square lantern jaw, give yourself a delicate jaw....play! Now go back and put it how you want it. At this point, you might notice your eyes and nose aren’t what you thought you liked. That’s ok, from here on out you’re going to be switching back and forth tweaking them all...small adjustments. Now log off again. Day three. You should have a head shape that’s pretty acceptable to you. Now put your hairbase on and your makeup. You’re going to look different again. From here you should look like someone you’re happy with. But from here you’re going to try all of those skins and makeups and see what they change. You aren’t done, but you’re going to be spending less time tweaking things. The next time you get a head or change your skin, you should be able to do this a little faster. Good luck! man...I typed all that for nothing?!
  4. You know...this is the third time I heard a guy say women don’t know how to make a shape since I’ve been on SL. Every time it’s like someone slapped me. I guess they never heard of Siddean Munro? Probably wearing her hands and feet right now...
  5. I’d recommend Belleza Jake but I’m partial to Belleza. I helped an old friend transition about a month or two ago. as far as old mesh. You might be able to get away with alphaing some areas and find it’s wearable and looks good. Fit mesh works best for a fitmesh body, no matter what you decide. Shoes and boots might be the most salvageable I would think, especially if they’re unrigged and resizable.
  6. I meant the other guy. You always have a nice avi.
  7. Hmmm...that looks like his ideal too, I think.
  8. Thank you. You’re going to make me cry at work. I really don’t even look like that anymore though.
  9. I’m hesitant to truly direct the op to a skin that is already for sale. I’m afraid someone would report it and get it pulled. It’s a good skin too.
  10. Yeah but it’s more of a pic dump really, isn’t it?
  11. That’s an old pic though, with one of the big bodies. I have a couple in that fast scrolling what am I wearing today thread that are more recent.
  12. I worked in retail through my early 20’s, it’s ridiculously easy to steal gift cards. There are a lot of scams where thieves will steal and activate them and then buy things with them, then resell said items for cash. With gift cards, it would be too easy to put the money in SL then cash it out. That being said. I’d love to take a Vanilla card for $25-50 and use it to support my shopping habit! I’d be ok with them having a system where you can put money in with a gift card, but you can’t cash it out.
  13. They’re pricy but Kenny Rowlands has a really nice gown at Uber right now.
  14. Yeah...but I need a body shot cause you know. It’s a body convo.
  15. I’d like to see a pic of him. I’ll tell him if it’s ideal or not.
  16. See the thing is, this is all your opinion. Even your unscientific sampling of friends...it’s pretty moot. I know people, both male and female that would dookie all over your “ideal”. Its SL, you do what you want, thing is you have to be comfortable with how you look and what you chose. It all starts there.
  17. Also, this is why I said you have to be happy with your shape. Some rando telling you what the ideal shape is....well there’s always going to be some rando with an opinion and it’s going to be different from the last rando. That’s why they make all different bodies and shape sliders go from 0-100.
  18. I got that part. I was whutting because he said women can’t make shapes men like. Then he said men like all different kinds of shapes so yeah.....lol whut? I got tig ol bitties... I don’t know what he’s talmbout.
  19. She could save herself the trouble. Fiore’s head already has a Rihanna skin and it’s a pretty good likeness. Depending on the makeup and hair you use, it nails it. It might be cheaper to get the other head and skin than to get a custom skin.
  20. Since SL is a very “me too” kind of environment, disincentives to free accounts won’t help LL. It probably would be two steps backward for them. I’ve been here for 8 years and I just became premium in the summer and that’s because I finally saw the benefit of having a parcel of land. The question is does LL actually want more premium members? If they did, I’m sure they could come up with better ways to entice people to get a premium account. Increasing the land allowance to 1024 or 1280 would help. Increasing the weekly stipend to an amount that allows you to buy more than a single item of clothing would also help. You can catch more flies with honey....
  21. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a good host or hostess. At best they speak to you when you tp in and that’s it. A little worse they have a conversation with people they know and leave everybody else out “Hey sis! *huggiez*” At the very worst it’s awful gestures “woooooooooooo!” “That’s my tune woo la la la la!” Hopefully, you can see I’ve been traumatized by the last one. So yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a venue where the host(ess) actually truly engaged me. The best I’ve ever got was an invite to the hostess’ dance hud where a bunch of girls were doing new dances like Beyoncé’s “Put a ring on it” and a lot of twerking in a line.
  22. Even IKEA furniture instructions can be confusing at times and they’re little crude drawings. That’s about as simple and dumbed down as you can get. I’ve seen instructions that are terrible myself. Those are rare though and by no means an excuse NOT to read the instructions.
