  1. I don’t make a habit of just tp’ing away from someone I’m talking to. That is kind of rude. I will tp away from someone that is being a creep or weirdo or someone that stops talking for an extended period of time (usually about 5-7 minutes) Usually that happens when the person stops talking for a while....for whatever reason. In that case it is like I walked away from the conversation. Some people still get offended when they technically did it first. Then they start talking again after you leave. That’s kind of odd, not sure what that’s about. I have noticed a slight uptick on that.
  2. So how does this discussion pertain to Second Life?
  3. When I spent 1200L total and still didn’t get the skin I wanted, I considered it gambling. It’s gambling. That is all. Well, no it’s not. Gatchas are kind of like slot machines, but more of a rip off. At least with a slot machine you know there’s a big chance you’re going to lose. With a gatcha, you lose in a different way. Some of the things in them have so many parts, the odds are stacked so far against you it doesn’t make any sense. The fact is some creators can set the odds of the machine and some of them set the odds so minutely that you’ll get a rare, you’re better off playing a slot machine. Playing a gatcha where there are 15 different items, the normal colors are Rare and Ultra rare means even if you get the rare you still have 14 items of the same color to get before you complete the set. That means you lost before you even started playing. Game over man, game over. I play them, but I have a set of rules I follow. If it has a bunch of little parts, it’s out. If it’s two items and a rare something with 15 different colors, I’ll do it, but only three plays. Hair is usually a go. Shoes are usually a go, unless they’re funky colors that only go with a certain outfit. So some of the machines are more loose so to speak, but it’s still gambling. It’s a little more complicated than “you still get something, no matter what.” Loot boxes....skirt the gambling issue even more because you’re paying a flat fee for a bunch of items you aren’t 100 percent sure you’re going to like or want. You’re basically gambling on the creativity of the participants of that month’s contents. I stay away from loot boxes more than I do gatchas because chances are you are getting it for a couple of creators, the rest of the stuff in there is going to sit in your inventory unused. whether they’re gambling or not is secondary to the fact that they’re kind of a rip off.
  4. Zeta a donne de bons conseils. Si vous avez un autre corps, assurez-vous qu’il est compatible avec SLINK.
  5. The best answer is always going to be to demo and choose the one you like the best. Catwa is the most popular and has the most third party support as far as skins and makeup. It’s the Maitreya of heads. Lelutka is another popular choice. Very nice animations. Well supported. Genus is the young upstart. Just came out of beta, but for some reason it got a lot of third party support right off the bat. Then there are the other heads: Logo, GA, Akeruka, 3doo, etc. A lot of people use and swear by them too. Demo the ones you like, play around with the huds. Choose the one you like and then make your purchase. Make it fun by playing around with the settings and seeing what they can all do.
  6. It’s omega too? Might need to get that and uh play around in it later...
  7. It can be immersive. Then you start dealing with people and it can suck all of your immersion away pretty quickly. Thats not to say I’m a shut in, quite the opposite. Just saying there’s a human factor that sometimes comes into conflict with immersion.
  8. I was born in '88, not a 90's baby technically. I'm definitely a millennial though. Matter of fact, I'm in my safe space, eating avacado toast, posting to my snap and youtube channel right now.
  9. Now when you say it doesn’t look right, what do you mean? The whole avatar or just the head? You should also be aware, not every head is created equal. It’s possible the head you have doesn’t have much wiggle room as far as making a different look. It can also be the skin. Some skins are so distinctive that you end up looking the same no matter what you do. Demoing a new skin and head and play with the sliders and see what happens.
  10. The Catya/Maitreya combo is pretty much the default female mesh body. Every one made really good suggestions as far as skins. I just wanted to throw Bold & Beauty’s hat in the ring. Very nice skins and currently the body skins are only for Maitreya. Your girl is going to have a lot of stuff to demo!
  11. Hopefully, she will. Just give her some time. Also, Cricket is totally a girl’s name. Maybe it’s a French thing, but it’s short for Christine.
  12. Back when I started in 2010, I was pretty clueless about shapes. All of those sliders were like information overload. Someone gave me a box of shapes and skins and told “play with that until you find what works for you.” I did, but I wasn’t quite there yet. After a while, that wasn’t good enough. I wanted to look as good as everybody else. I knew a girl that did “custom” shapes. So I paid her 800 L$ to do mine and she invited me over her house, hopped up on a pose stand and went to work. After about 15-20 minutes of chatting she was done. She gave me the shape I tried it on and I looked almost exactly like her. She basically took her shape, tweaked it and gave it to me. Her boyfriend who was there said something about how we looked alike. She started going off on him....on mic. They started arguing. I took my shape and left. I knew I had been ripped off a little and I knew I could do what she did. So every day, I’d spend about 20 mins tweaking one of the shapes. Eventually, I started getting a feel for it. Eventually...I started having my own look. My advice? Gradually tweak the shape your friend told you how to make. Save it, save it as custom body 1.1, 1.2...whatever. The body is easier than the head. Start there. You’ll have a natural range of numbers you like. Stick with those. Compare yourself to other Avis (they’re doing it to you), you still feel just right compared to others? That’s a good place to be. Find what works for you. Now do the same thing to your head and face. Little tweaks everyday. After a couple months....you can do a shape with your eyes closed. I still have that shape that girl made me back then on my original avatar’s inventory.
  13. How much am I getting paid for these choices?
  14. If she likes Belleza Isis, why not go with that? It's relatively Maitreya sized and it's pretty well supported. Some creators only make Freya size, which can be a bummer, but it's a nice body. Get the lady what she wants!
  15. That’s unfortunate. I’m guessing no one responded at all?
