  1. nope, it wasn't any kind of hidden physics shape or prim, it was a complete multi-part linked mesh dock, they had simply selected the object and changed the transparency to 100%. As my original post said, there were "several" of them. Even if one person had made this "mistake", I find it hard to believe that multiple people across 2 regions made the same "mistake" with different brands and designs of docks I just went back there, and incredibly, one of these invisible docks is still there, complete with invisible stairs too
  2. I like both Bellisseria and mainland for different reasons. Exploring both is great, especially when you discover little hidden areas - even when you think you've seen it all, there's always something else to surprise you. I moved into Bellisseria on the first day, and whilst in the beginning it was great to say "there's no ugly skyboxes or junk like on mainland" - unfortunately that's not the case any more. I'm not sure how many residents of Bellisseria actually venture too far from their homes any more, but this kind of thing is getting worse and worse:
  3. Along the central river where the original Trads are, several people extended docks out into the water, then made them all invisible. It certainly caught many sailors by surprise to suddenly find our boats blocked by some unseen issue. I know several were returned but I wonder if the culprits ever re-rezzed them. The oddest thing is, why bother rezzing a dock if you cant even see it ? Regarding cars parked on the side of the road, well that's just rude, and it's clearly "claiming public land" as your own - i've spotted a few and promptly reported them. The worse case of claiming public land I found though was someone who owned a Vic home close the the beach - not only had they rezzed those off-shore waves (which were left physical and actually blocked a nearby rez zone), but they had fenced off a whole pile of beach area and erected a "private beach, keep out" sign. It's when I see things like this that everyone should be really glad I am not a Mole, because I'd be returning that sort of stuff in a flash haha
  4. This weekend just passed, the Drivers Of SL Group did their weekly grid drive starting in the old LL home continent (the one with the dragon). We drove through quite a lot of it and whilst it certainly wasn't teeming with avi's as some parts of Bellisseria are, there were certainly people at home. Having not been to these continents in a few years, I actually really enjoyed driving and exploring round there, and really enjoyed how little lag there was there - in fact it was the least lag I've experience in SL in 18 months A bit off topic now, but one thing though became rather obvious, is that Bellisseria isn't really "new" in any sense. Sure it's built with the last mesh etc, but this was always going to be inevitable when you re-make something several years later - you always use the latest techniques and materials. But in terms of overall design concept, the old versus new is almost the same - these old LL continents have roads, paths, community areas, places of interest, parks etc - just like Bellisseria has now. The key difference is in the governance aspect of the continents - where Bellisseria is a substantial improvement due to lack of ban lines and more restrictions in terms of what you can build, keeping in theme etc. For Bellisseria to continue to be popular and important to LL, it's the governance / covenant side of it that needs to be kept on top of, to ensure that Bellisseria remains looking as good as it does. Unfortunately this seems to be slipping lately - as the bigger Bellisseria gets the more covenant violations need to be dealt with, and it now seems that the LL staff are falling behind with this. Violations like bad orbs, low skyboxes, places full of breedables etc used to be dealt with within 3 days, now it's taking several weeks - i really hope this trend doesn't continue.
  5. Jammy, not sure if they offer cruises at a time convenient for you, but i would check out Rainbow Sails Yacht Club. They run weekly cruises on Saturday and Sunday, and their main marina can be found here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Osprey Ridge/144/106/25 Besides from normal group chats, they use an extra earpiece that you wear (called BEVR) that allows you to communicate with all the other sailors by just typing into local chat. This makes it easier to get help but also just easier to chit-chat as the group gets spread out over the course. During the course of their normal cruises, they have multiple stops (RV points) when the faster sailors all stop and wait for the slower ones, giving everyone a little rest before continuing on. Their courses (and the club itself frankly), are extremely well organised, more so that other clubs I've sailed with (and I've sailed with many). For what it's worth, my experiences with the LCC have been quite similar to yours, and certainly their adage "no-one left behind" needs to be taken with a grain of salt
  6. Oh thank you both, that really clears it up for me
  7. Ok, so maybe I am doing something wrong here. To sell L$ so they go into my USD balance where do I go? There seems to be two separate options. One is "Process Credit" on my dashboard - when I go there I get a warning message (see first pic). The second is the LindeX page which gives me options to sell L$ at various exchange rates. (see second pic) This looks like it works, but it mentions that after I click Sell i will need to log in again to confirm, so I am wondering if when I do that it will give me the same warning as the first pic shows. Sorry for all these questions but this process seems needlessly complicated and confusing to me.
  8. Ok thanks for the replies but honestly i am now more confused than ever lol My understanding was that i could cash out L$, in other words, sell them for USD and keep that in a Tilia account, and when my premium memberships was up for renewal, it would take those fees from the USD balance in my Tilia account. Is this correct or not? It was also my understanding that you can't cash out / convert L$ to USD without a Tilia account. Is this correct? FYI no idea if this makes a difference but i am not in the USA either.
  9. I want to set up a Tilia account so I can cash out my L$ and use it to pay for my yearly premium subscription. I have 2 premium user accounts, my main which owns mainland, and my alt which I use for my LL home. Both of these user accounts have the same payment details set up, so, my question is. If I set up a tilia account on one of them, will it automatically take out my premium costs from both user accounts, or just the account i use to sign up with Tilia ?
  10. I fly those planes too, and a couple even larger. I don't have any problem taking off or landing on those runways. Flying in SL can best be described as "immersive" - it's certainly not that realistic, so even larger planes can land on very short runways with a bit of practise. I'll just add and confirm what Nika said, full-size airports in Bellisseria aren't appropriate, because as mentioned, they aren't in theme, and the main purpose of Bellisseria is residential living areas for premium members. This was mentioned by one of the Moles (Abnor I think) previously when this topic was first brought up. There are plenty of large airports all over mainland as it is - and now that the continents are joined, you can fly to them all
  11. Well the Moles have added a third airstrip in Bellisseria only a few days ago - smack bang in the middle of the great river that runs through the Chalet theme. So that's 3 now in total, plus of course there are "proper" airports at both the northern and southern ends of Bellisseria, in neighbouring Satori/Jeogeot. I'd say overall, pilots in SL are being pretty well looked after in Bellisseria, besides, this IS SL, you can land your big plane on those airstrips too
  12. You might able to find it at one of the Linden Department of Public Works content shops that are dotted around a few continents. As I think, from that picture you posted, you're in Heterocera, I would try the LDPW shop at Leafminer region to start with, here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Leafminer/186/139/30
  13. Well i have to say my guess about the rail line crossing over the islands at Bergheim was totally wrong! Like with the road, they've gone underground, and theres now a bit train tunnel running east to west across the northern edge of Bergheim and Intervale
  14. nice to see them run a road tunnel at the southern mouth of the river. The fact that they have a railway-crossing section of road just outside the north exit of the tunnel is a nice hint to where the rail line is going to run. I'm guessing across the island in Bergheim then westward. I love watching the costal areas / non-cloned areas slowly take shape, seeing everything fit together like a jigsaw puzzle
  15. You're probably jumping the gun a bit here, especially when it comes to the Satori add-on. Bellisseria still has a minimum of 3 more themes to unveil and complete, plus a few current themes still need to be completed. If you logically look at how Bellisseria has expanded so far, it's reasonable to assume that north of the "Chalet" area will, at some point, be full of LL home regions. At that point, you can expect LL to fill in the blanks on the west coast of Satori and finally give sailors a full protected waterway Depending on just how many more regions LL determine they need, it's also quite possible for Bellisseria to expand north-west, to the point that it reaches the north-east corner of Sansara as per your plan. LL have already demonstrated (with the Jeogeot NW coast) that they are quite happy to "fill in" little gaps between mainland and Bellisseria, so I think we can expect to see that trend continue. However, I think they are unlikely to add water regions to any mainland area that has nothing to do with Bellisseria, simply because there isn't a financial incentive to do so.
  16. Diamond the info I relayed comes from several well-known vehicle creators, creators of some of the most reliable vehicles on the grid. If they tell me the size of the linkset is important then I'll take that on board in the face of any real evidence to the contrary. In all my time using vehicles on the grid, I've never found regions crossings to very problematic at all, in fact I average 39.5 hours of travel time between any kind of issue, so I must be doing something right when it comes to how i travel, and what I choose to travel in
  17. The LI of any vehicle actually has very little to do with its ability to cross regions smoothly. What is far more important is the size of the linkset in the vehicle ie: the number of links. Most vehicles (especially more modern ones) contain most of their scripts in either just the root prim or that plus a few others, and they use link number or link names to communicate with the rest of the vehicle to animate parts etc. The more links you have, the longer that process is, so simply, less links is better, all other stuff being equal. Where it gets confusing is that something might be low LI but a high number of objects (join 20 standard prim cubes together as convex hull and they will only count as 10LI - but they are still 20 items), or alternatively, something might be high LI but low number of objects (think of a large complex boat hull, it might be 15LI, but it's still just one object). So a tip is to right click any vehicle you're interested in, select edit, select Edit Linked, then click on the little left-pointing arrow under that. That will go to the last link in the vehicle and tell you how many objects there are, ie "Link number = 81" means it's 81 objects.
  18. I'll echo Nika's post above - the Shippe & Saille Harbor Master is a cute little boat that's a lot of fun, and very reliable. A perfect sight seeing boat. The Piaggio Little Bee is also great, regardless of it's age - also very fast when in hydroplane mode as mentioned. Piaggio also has a cute watercraft called the SeaRoo - which looks a bit like a shark or dolphin. It can carry one passenger, and it can dive underwater like a submarine, and also jump up out of the water too. You can even do backflips in it haha. It's really fun, and very small, so easy to manoeuvre in tight areas. My favorite boat is the one LLoyd mentioned - The Rubber Bunny Marlin. Super reliable, full analogue throttle so you can go really really slow (or pretty fast too, it tops out at 40 knots!). Only has basic poses but can seat 4 and has plenty of clickable doors etc, plus a cool light system on the roof. It also has probably the most realistic wave cresting effects of any boat in SL too. It's also absurdly cheap - less than 1000L Another two I'd recommend are the Sinplicity Libelle and the Hunter Marine Runabout. The Libelle is a gorgeous looking boat, almost like a 50's racing car body had been dropped onto a boat hull. Sounds amazing, crosses regions like butter, and is also very fast, but you can still potter round slowly if you want. Only seats two people though. The Runabout is bigger, seats 4, and has much more of a traditional expensive motorboat look. It also sounds glorious too, and comes with quite a few animations as well, and a working fuel system. Both of these though are at the upper end of the scale pricewise (about 3000L) A lot will come down to personal taste over styles though, because the Boss 225 mentioned in the OP i think is a beautiful looking craft
  19. I know this isn's going to be a popular post, but I have to say it's a pity that they actually updated the passport from their original one. Let me explain why. The original passport was fantastic, and being mod, you could do so much more with it rather than simply wear it as a HUD (which filled too much of the screen anyway). You could rezz one out at your home in Bellisseria, linking it to furniture to keep LI down, or even better, you could link it to your car/boat etc, and have a passport that actually went with you as you travelled round the continent. I loved driving round in my little jeep with my passport open on the dashboard, showing all the stamps I had collected - in fact I made sure that rather than just teleporting to each location, I would physically drive/fly/sail to each one. Doing it this way turned it into a fun little game, and enabled me to see a lot of great places along the way. Unfortunately, when they updated the passport, they made it no-mod, which now prevents anybody from doing anything like that with it Ok, so I thought, fine, I'll just use my original one and keep adding to it, after all, it's working fine right ? Nope, wrong. When they made the updated version mod, they also took away the stamps being supplied as textures, which means I can no longer add any new stamps to my existing passport. This is a double-whammy for me, because I found another cool use for the textures - and that's to use them kind of like bumper stickers, or stickers you see on the windows of cars. I have a 4wd with all the stamps arranged down the side, and it's really neat, but again, I can no longer update it. So not only did they outdate the original passport, they made it impossible for people to continue to use it effectively, and sorry but that kind of stinks. To me this is akin to a creator issuing an updated product that actually took away features, but also then stopped your old product from still working, effectively forcing you to accept something that was worse lol If anyone has any kind of work-around for this so I can keep collecting stamps, I'd love to hear about it, as I really miss the little expeditions I used to do to find them.
  20. Not going to give slurl but youre in the SSPE1768 region
  21. I think you were having a rez issue there. That section of rail is definitely there and has been since the Vics were released. I've done several dozen trips over those track without issue (I remember that area specifically as it's a highlight of the train run))
  22. They are Tiny Empires bots. You can enter their name in the TE website and trace them back to their main (owner). They are used to game the TE system in some way, in other words cheat, though I've forgotten the details on what it achieves. I personally enjoy rezzing a large truck or tank on the sea floor and mowing them down.
  23. There's a one region wide empty water channel that now runs between the two Stilt home areas which makes it easy to navigate through them Regarding sailing in Satori, they still have 3 themes to build, and just by examining the unfinished areas of Bellisseria, (and looking at some of the hints they've left), you can formulate a reasonable assumption about where the continent will expand. I'm confident that when Bellisseria is 100% done, we'll be able to sail up the west coast of Satori. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Bellisseria expand so that it does indeed connect up to the north east corner of Sansara. On the other hand, as I can't see any financial gain for LL to add a big stack of water regions heading round to Abbots, then I think that's very unlikely.
  24. There's a rez zone there already, just up top where the road runs past
  25. Top 5 homes: 1. Chalet 2. Stilt 3. Log 4. Traditional 5. Houseboat The campers don't appeal to me due to the size and the style, and the Vics I couldn't get on with the interior layouts and the round rooms lol Top 5 landscapes: 1. Log 2. Camper 3. Chalet 4. Traditional 5. Victorian Ironically, although I love boating and do it every day - both the "water" themes of Stilts and Houseboats I consider to have the worst landscaping. The houseboats have minimal landscaping to speak of at all for the most part, besides relentless brown timber docks everywhere. With the Stilt areas, I actually like the ones on land, they have a nice beachy feel, but the pier (and especially the water) ones do look cramped as suggested above. Plus, when you're driving around in a smallish boat, you spend most of your time just looking at timber poles haha.
