  1. At a current shopping event I finally found the first LaraX outfit I want to buy. At this rate, should only be 2 or 3 years before I actually have a useable LaraX wardrobe Maybe some of my 5.3 clothes have been updated, which would be really handy, but so far I haven't come across any simple method of determining that. Are any stores listing or displaying what they are updating?
  2. I own a Teegle. At the time i purchased it (some years ago now), I felt like overall it was better than the Waterhorse. However, since then, the Waterhorse horses have been updated (that or they've released new ones) and after testing them I believe they are now better overall. I should add for clarity, that I like to ride in mouselook view, as this feels more realistic. Originally, both Teegle and Waterhose horses had the same issue where, in mouselook view, they would only move in the direction you were looking. This always annoys me no end. The new Waterhorse horses however, have fixed this issue, which means you can ride the horses in mouselook view, and move in one direction, whilst looking around independently, just like you would in RL if you were sightseeing along a trail etc. This is the main reason why i think Waterhorse is now better, but obviously if you ride in 3rd-person view then this doesn't matter.
  3. Some countries have restrictions on use for credit cards in foreign countries etc, so that sometimes its not possible for a resident in SL to supply PIOF to LL. They aren't trying to hide anything from LL. I know several people in SL who this effects, so the only way they can buy anything in SL is to earn L$ in-world first. Unfortunately because people mistakingly think PIOF is the same thing as Age Verification, these people sometimes find themselves banned from some "public" places, whether it be a club, community place etc EDIT: So to answer your question, your points are probably correct in determining that those are the most likely reasons people use PIOF as a restriction, but it's a shame that in doing so it punishes innocent residents.
  4. Firestorm has the option to use double click for direct teleports via the world map or mini map (not sure what other viewers have that feature) Firestorm also has the option to walk your avi to a location within a region based on double clicking the area of ground you want to walk to. Single long-clicks are also used on some vehicles for various switches, especially ones used for lights, where standard click = left turn signal, long click = right turn signal etc
  5. You can have adult furniture in Belli, and use the adult poses too, as long as any adult activity is done "behind closed doors" as per community standards for M-rated land, so in other words, naughty furniture kept inside the house, and turn of parcel privacy.
  6. I remember a few years ago i had similar issues with the FS AO - the animations seemed to slide for several seconds before actually looking normal. At the time I couldn't work out what was causing it, so I stopped using it and went back to my trusty regular AO. Never found out what the issue was, but I know that these days I use the FS AO and it seems fine.
  7. State 1 is the only state I am happy with, regardless of whatever configuration someone needs it in. The toilet seat (and more importantly to me, the lid) being left up is simply unsightly - it looks untidy. It is the bathroom equivalent of parking your car with the hood left up
  8. You cant manually edit any of the default fences / borders etc because they aren't yours. In most cases, the fences in a lot of themes actually sit outside your parcel borders. The textures are supplied so you can apply them to any existing prim or mesh items you might own in order to match your items with the theme and existing Mole made items.
  9. Not sure you read what they claimed Quartz or maybe it's phrased oddly. They said that vehicle LI comes out of the region total regardless if it's sat on or not. Whilst obviously every object in a region counts towards the region prim limit, I'm sure you know that when a vehicle is just rezzed out in a parcel, then it's LI also comes out of the total for that parcel as well - which was pertinent to earlier discussion about abandoned vehicles filling up parcels.
  10. Region crossings for most people are substantially better than they were several years ago. Code changes LL made prior to the cloud uplift (and documented on these Forums if you want to search for it) now allow vehicles to cross with far less delay and rubber-banding, and more reliably as well. Hundreds of people per week participate in those Grid Drives, with the group scheduled times being the most popular, often getting at least 30 all doing the drive at the same time. The start can be a bit chaotic, but as drivers spread out things become much smoother. In most cases, over 90% of people complete the drives without any region crossing issues, the only exception being when an occasional region is actually off-line. However, there are always a few that may encounter some issues, but for the most part it comes down to their own limitations rather than the performance of the grid itself (poor internet, heavily scripted avatar, bad viewer settings etc). The reason corner crossings are such an issue for many simply comes from most people not understanding how SL works, and therefore not knowing how to avoid potential problems. A corner crossing is no different than a regular crossing, it just happens to be two regular region crossings set close together. A person crosses from region A into region B, then only a second later attempts to cross into region C, whilst region B is still in the middle processing the previous crossing - that's when someone is likely to get unseated from their vehicle. The correct approach is simply to slow right down, make the first crossing from A to B, then actually stop in region B for a few seconds, before accelerating again and crossing into region C. The pause in the middle allows the simulator to catch up. Most people don't bother slowing down, and that is the issue. It also helps to have parcel lines enabled on your mini-map, and have the mini-map zoomed in, that way you can see exactly where the region corner is. You can also hit Ctrl-Alt-Shift-P which will show property lines, including region borders, directly onto the ground itself (although enabling this does reduce your FPS somewhat) I know this is generally off-topic but I just wanted to dispel this myth that corner crossings are some kind of impassable thing in SL when in reality, they can be managed quite easily. People also tend to complain about how many corner crossings there are on the SL mainland, but if you count them all up and compare them to how many normal crossings there are, you'll see that corner crossings are only a tiny percentage.
  11. That is incorrect. As has already been mentioned in this thread, when in a parcel, the moment you unsit from your vehicle, your vehicle is now simply another object, just like any other object that might be in the parcel, and therefore the LI of the vehicle gets included just the same way as any other object currently rezzed on the parcel. If this wasn't the case, then every vehicle owner could simply keep 20 vehicles rezzed out at home without them running out of prims in their parcel. The only exception to that which possibly gets around it is if your vehicle is scripted to automatically turn temporary the moment you unsit from it. I'm personally not aware of any vehicles scripted like that - if they are out there, then they are rare.
  12. There are some car rez zones in the original part of Belli, there just isn't as many as what was added to later themes. Off the top of my head, these ones spring to mind (mainly cause I used to use this route often): http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Gallaudet/163/233/32 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Badger Mounds/243/154/32 Make sure you enable parcel borders on your Mini-map and you'll be able to spot them as you drive along.
  13. This is completely untrue. Most road vehicles in SL aren't using shells specifically made for SL, and so their land impact is generally quite high, well certainly higher than 32 anyway. It's not that uncommon for the average car in SL to use at least 50 LI Though unrelated to the idea of parking and going shopping, as mentioned by others, boats are also almost always more than 32 LI, especially sailboats, which can indeed run into several hundred LI. These are common vehicles used by many, not vehicles that are "more of a decoration" as you've suggested. "32" gets bandied about as a number because it is the physics limit for a vehicle before it stops working, so whilst a big sailboat might be in total 150 LI, only 32 (max) of that is actually physical. It still counts as 150 though when you "park" it. See the building section here: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Limits
  14. I've never found it to be much of an issue to be honest. It's probably more of an issue for people new to exploring who aren't familiar with what areas have object entry turned off or auto-return set for a short time. Certainly in most of my mainland travel it's never caused many issues, plus rez zones are rarely far away. Then of course there's the potential griefing aspect (as mentioned above) which is why some places, like the Blake Sea and Bellisseria, have object entry set to off by default. I've also noticed a trend where some vehicle users tend to just leave their vehicles laying about when they are done with them, on the surface this might encourage more of that.
  15. ^this here is something that a lot of people don't see to get when talking about Bellisseria. Sure it will never have the uniqueness (or chaos) of mainland, and sure, at a glance, the cloned regions give off a vibe of "it's all the same", but the reality is quite different. Explore the place at ground level and you will find a lot of variation - not just within the custom built regions like coastlines etc, but even within the cloned regions there is huge variation just with how residents have decorated their homes. I've driven through Belli hundreds of times, and whilst its true that after a while, its possible to work out which region clone you're in just due to the familiar road layout, very rarely does the rest of the region look the same - people choose different houses, then they decorate them differently etc. The chance of seeing two regions where residents have chosen the exact same houses, in the same colours, then decorated the outside the same, is pretty damn low i would think. LL certainly could come up with a theme that's more wild/unique than what they currently have, because even the original fantasy homes were outwardly quite similar to other homes, but I am guessing that they are playing it safe for now because that's the most sensible thing to do - just look at the least occupied themes, most of those are the more "unique" ones. Regardless of the accuracy of the statistical info being bandied about in this forum, I would've thought that from observing when SL is most active it becomes clear that USA residents make up the largest group of SL users, so it's hardly a surprise that that's where LL's focus is, even if their methods are perhaps overly conservative at times.
  16. They get rented quite regularly. There was a large Nature event held there last year if I remember right. Osmium and Iridium are indeed rented right now - for a Winter Camping event this weekend
  17. With the exception of the newer Ranch and Mediterranean themes, I've explored Belli very extensively since the day it opened, by both road and sea generally. There is a lot of hidden stuff to uncover when you do that, and it's fun to stumble across the Easter Eggs the Moles have left for us to discover, as well as plenty of hidden picnic areas etc - honestly I doubt anyone has found every little thing there is in Belli. I wonder if anyone has compiled a full list?
  18. Just because it appears that a region is "finished" doesn't mean the Moles have not already planned how it can be adjusted at a future date in order to expand a road or train line etc. A classic example of this are the Vic roads on the Fairfax, Regatta, and Carrollton Bay regions. These regions were finished long before the Vic community center and new Vic island were added, but in both cases it didn't take much fiddling for the Moles to turn the roads there into bridges to head to the new area. They could easily modify a small area of a region at a later date to send the train line down another path
  19. The point of my post was to point out some possible side effects that would effect non-trespassing people, such as other parcel owners in the region, or people who stick to public areas, and nothing more. Since (as i said in a related thread) I almost never run into banlines or orbs, because I almost never deviate from protected or abandoned land, it doesn't bother me personally which method is used, and I have always supported residents ability to protect their private property with whatever method they want. I personally have no issue with 0-second orbs and never have. I also never claimed that this device is the same as the anti-bot device either, i said it "sounds" like it, because seemingly they work in the exact same way - pre-emptively banning people who have never trespassed. As for not spamming messages, this is, in reality, the annoying part. Supposedly, the other device I mentioned doesn't do that either. The ban messages are apparently LL system messages you receive when you get added to a parcel ban list in a region you're currently in. I'd be interested to know if that is indeed the case, because these messages can't be selected in your chat in the same way that object messages can - so far it's not been possible to identify the source of the message in the usual way one would. So if your system will work without local chat being flooded by any kind of message, then that's fine. Finally, considering I've never once complained about either banlines or orbs, either on these forums or in-world, I don't appreciate being labelled as being part of a group who "constantly whines" just for pointing a few things out and trying to seek some clarification, especially as in general, I've always agreed with most of the points of view expressed by you both. I don't speak enough generally here or in-world to be labelled a whiner Anyway, good luck with it!
  20. This sounds a lot like a certain anti-bot orb currently becoming very popular on mainland which is supposed to ban bots but doesn't seem to work at all. Instead it just bans you from a parcel as soon as you enter a region - even if you're standing on protected LL land such as a road. If these devices are on multiple parcels in a single region, as is currently the case in Satori, then you're suddenly presented with endless tracts of banlines either side of the road, and constant system messages saying "You have been banned from blah blah blah". Frankly it's really damn annoying. These kind of devices should be limited to the parcel they are trying to secure - not just scanning a whole region. Wouldn't it also mean that other people living in the same region are also going to be instantly added to the ban list, thereby forcing them to see banlines (if they are close enough), and also subjecting them to the same ban message? I really hope it doesn't work in the same way - that anti-bot orb should be taken off the MP, it's clearly faulty since it basically adds everyone, regardless of whether they are a bot or not.
  21. Yeah I didn't word that in quite the way I should've . I was referring to a vehicle that's still in public land with object entry set to off, not one that's managed to get half way through someone's parcel, which of course would be subject to the parcel settings. In Bellisseria for example (since it's been brought up a lot in this thread), Object Entry is set to off on all public areas, which means the moment you become unseated from your vehicle, it gets returned to you within a few seconds.
  22. Correct, at least partially. Your draw distance is probably high enough so that the ban lines will appear for you just as you're about to fly right over the top of them. Ideally, as has been mentioned before, banlines need to always go up to 5000m - this would make the need for orbs redundant in many cases. In theory, it would also help if Banlines were visible from 100m away so they can be avoided in time - however this creates a problem where it's going to start and look quite unsightly in places. Regarding the Belli security system - it doesn't return vehicles as far as i am aware, however "Object Entry" is turned off in all of Bellisseria public areas, which means if you are booted from your vehicle by the security system, your are automatically unseated from your vehicle - as soon as that happens, the no Object Entry setting will return your vehicle.
  23. You know, in reality, this whole discussion over banlines / orbs, and travelling, is really much ado about nothing. In 2022 I spent 628 hours travelling the SL continents via air, land, and water. In all that time, the total number of banlines I ran into was 3, the total number of 0-seconf orbs i hit, was also 3 (ironically all 3 of them were in Bellisseria lol). Last year, 2023, I spent 586 hours doing the same thing. Total banlines I ran into , 3. Total 0-second orbs i hit, one, yes, just one single 0-second orb. The standard response i usually get when imparting this bit of info is "you're lucky". No, - luck has nothing to do with it whatsoever. Since the addition of Bellisseria and the connection to the other continents, there is now more room than ever for explorers to travel, and importantly, there's more safe room than ever before - LL protected waterways, protected land etc. The reality is, a lot of explorers in SL manage to move around without too much trouble from banlines or orbs (besides from my own stats, I know quite a few others who similarly never really have an issues), but there's always a minority who have issues, and can be very vocal about it, which is why it's brought up regularly here. Ironically there is far less of a discussion about banlines or orbs in most of the travelling groups I am in, which seems odd. There are actually two other major reasons why some explorers have trouble though, but neither of them have been mentioned in this thread, and considering how off-topic with the OP it's become, i'm not going to derail it further.
