    LaraX?

And an example of how animations can make things .. Weird. Looks like she carried home a pair of lead-filled grocery bags and dislodged both shoulders!
  2. Peeve: OPs who try to curate 'their' threads and move the goal-posts around a few posts or pages in when it doesn't turn out the echo-chamber they hoped for. Let the moderators do the moderating.
  3. Phone salespeople that don't seem to grasp the difference between forename and spoken name - why are they asking if they're talking to my grandfather? Also that they think we're somehow on first name basis. And just the existence of phone salespeople at all. Peeved!

They're a tad flat across the shoulders, although I think the deformers I've got do a good job of bringing them down to a light slope without messing things up too much. The thing I've seen most complaints about is how the arms connect in the armpit, particularly at the back, but personally I never was very bothered by it. A lot of people make shapes with very broad shoulders, which emphasises it more (which in combination with how people tend to make their heads very small and necks very long makes them look like stick figures, but that's a whole different issue!). With shoulder width cranked up: My regular shape: Of course, just as in real life, the anatomical structure is only half the puzzle - your pose/movement/animation can very easily increase or decrease the effect:

I find Maitreya's shoulders less obtrusive than Legacy's pool noodle-arms. But that might just be me!
  6. Not off the top of my head .. Why, though?
  7. .. Like so? I may have taken that after we watched the first film .. They're both good, Burke & Hare is a rather infamous story about body snatchers from Victorian Scotland (based on true events and stuff!), The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Had the Longest Darned Film Title You Ever Saw is also good, I've got a weakness for period dramas and it's basically an Edwardian rom-com with an actually interesting story in it. And according to my mum, Hugh Grant is hot and stuff. I think she may have used the word 'dreamy', whatever that's supposed to mean. *Shrugs*
  8. A free home doesn't seem like it would fit into SL's business model. Though we don't get any precise numbers, I reckon that Premium and land tiers are a very major part of the income (MP cuts and L$ exchange fees on top of that are the other primary revenue sources, no idea how much they make off of name changes although looking at my contact list there's been a pretty penny I reckon). But I totally get wanting proper privacy for things like getting dressed, and being in a skybox over a high-traffic place like the Welcome Hub .. Well, unless there's some clever anti-cam function in place, anyone could just look at the minimap, see someone's alone high up in the sky, right-click them and hit cam and ta-dah - dressing room got itself a hidden camera! The only way to ensure that no one else can see you, as far as I'm aware (aside from of course turning your entire avatar invisible, which isn't helpful when you're trying to get dressed!), is to be in a parcel in which you are hidden, and which no one else can access. Or being on a private region with no neighbours and no public access. This could be achieved through something like having a region with a bunch (or a couple) of micro-parcels (don't need more than 8 x 8 metres to get dressed), that you can 'rent' for free for a short period of time (say an hour or two, then the rental is made available automatically - perhaps even script it so that if you leave the region for 5 minutes it'll 'evict' you, maybe?). But it feels like a fair amount of work for something which probably doesn't feel like a very pressing issue for LL (and I mean, a private person could make the same thing, but then they're the ones paying for the tier for that service, for which there isn't really any incentive aside from being 'good' - and who the heck wants that?!). As it stands, the best thing you can do to avoid people catching a peek is to wear BOM undies/alphas. That'll bake on your body even before your mesh body does, and it also offers some protection against people derendering your attachments to strip you.
  9. Stumbled across this whilst leaving Spotify on radio mode off a Carla De Vito song.
  10. I feel as if finding anything at Bare Rose can be a bit tricky. So much stuff there!
  11. Finally found a good use for the blackboard I got a while back - a list of the films I have prepared to watch with my partner!

Blinks. In-world group communication is still a thing?! Yeah I know a fair few people who would likely toss in the towel if it comes to that. I don't think it will, I'm more concerned about the individuals who, unaware of the update, go bust their bank to buy a new body, and then get a Maitreya update and that creators start churning out content again.

Most people in SL don't keep up with the forums, and many more don't keep up with any social media outside of the grid. Whilst some may have heard it from other residents, I suspect a rather large part of the Maitreya userbase have no idea about an update being on the way. So between some stores having skipped Lara for a long time, and now suddenly a lot of stores do new releases without it, they may well think that creators are abandoning it, which may prompt them to consider buying a new body because they don't want to miss out on any more new stuff.

Probably, but I think that it may have been premature for many. A lot of shoppers won't go back to the store in a month or two because an old release that wasn't compatible has had an update. It may even tip some people towards dropping Maitreya because they don't know there's an update coming and think that stores dropping it is because of its popularity waning - which isn't the case.

There's been a lot of that lately, it seems. Both in the weekend sales and at events, I've grabbed lots and lots of demos only to find Maitreya wasn't rigged for when I go home to try it on. Oh well, more L$ for vehicles I guess!
  16. Peeve: my phone makes a notification noise, only to give me a 'screen time report'. According to which my daily average screen time last week was .. 0 minutes.
  17. How do you quiet down a pyromaniac toddler? Give him a paci-fire!
  18. Revisiting an old photo pose I did to make some adjustments, still a work in progress. Lots of alignment and stuff to fix.
  19. The easiest way to set up a 'good looking' avatar without jumping in at the deep end is to browse shapes (make sure they include style cards). With the shape and the style card you'll have a shopping list telling you what body, head, and skin is used - that's your base avi done, dressing up and changing hair, tattoos, etc. on top of that is fairly simple. This way, you just have to look at the adverts for the shapes and decide whether or not it's 'good looking', which is entirely subjective.
