  1. Peeve: Swenglish just isn't okay when it comes to news broadcasts or political debates. In English it's 'million' then 'billion', in Swedish it's 'miljon' then 'miljard'. For some reason there's been several instances just in the past few days where both journalists and politicians lamely translate '$1,000,000,000' to '1 biljoner dollar'. Trouble is, in Swedish 'biljon' actually means 'trillion'. Again, this was one of those things that we were taught in a very early age in school, it came up both in math class and in English class whilst we were still aged with single digits, it's something most Swedes just know is a quirky thing (a bit like how we use commas instead of points; 5.5 = 'fem-komma-fem', i.e. '5,5' - which can make things confusing if you interpret the commas in 1,000,000 as decimal points). But not the people in power, and not the people we trust (with tax money) to keep us updated on what's happening in the world, apparently. It's disgraceful.
  2. Better yet, put stilton in a jar with a bit of vodka and let it stand for a few months or a year. A better gingerbread biscuit topping does not exist!
  3. Probably. Washed rind cheese, such as Limburger and various Danish cheeses get their distinctive flavour because the process develops the same sort of bacteria as human feet do (not to be confused with the butyric acid in Parmesan cheese which is the same stuff 'Murricans use to vomit-flavour their chocolate), it's why opening a Danish cheese gives you flashbacks to that one time in high school when you found a pair of dirty socks in your gym bag that had hung out getting funky since the previous semester (some people appear to mistake this for their life flashing before their inner eyes, and decide the smell means they're in a life-threatening situation). It's delicious though.
  4. Whilst I'm not a huge fan of the top, Blueberry's Power Play Jeans/Trousers are usually my go-to, even though I have a fair few jeans of theirs they feel like the most versatile - that the matching boots in 3 different heights are some of my favourites as well doesn't hurt either. I'd much rather my favourite jacket from Tetra came for LaraX with it. The jacket itself can be worn with some alphas, but the cardigan not so much. Alternatively this top from Decoy (I think they're called Everfaere now though?) and skirt from Tetra. Although I seldom wear skirts (or dresses) except when posing for a pic, my dislike for how they get deformed when the legs aren't straight down and forward.
  5. Caramelised onions with a splash of Worcestershire sauce makes the tastiest hamburger topping ever though. Heck you don't even need the hamburger, just end them frying at a high heat so they come out crisp and they're a tastier snack than any potato crisp could ever dream to aspire to! Then where do they keep their dingleberries? .. Eyes the Kimchi jar suspiciously
  6. Well, that's the third cover of Twilight of the Thunder God I stumbled across ..
  7. Peeve: how our authorities don't seem to get the whole 'seasons' bit. You'd think a major Scandinavian city would be prepared to plough the streets when winter comes, but no - each year they appear to be caught with their trousers down, and then excuse their unpreparedness with 'oh but we didn't expect snow'. There's about half a metre of snow here at the moment. We made dioramas about the seasons in kindergarten, and yet our politicians can't seem to grasp the concept. Huffs.

    LaraX?

I wasn't very likely to buy any event release fatpacks as it was, but I figure I might pick something up for 5.3 on the weekend sales if I like it a lot, or if I'm doing a getup for a shoot where I need something very specific which may be hard to find even after creators have started releasing Lara X stuff. But I'll primarily want Lara X rigging for new purchases, to get started on a compatible wardrobe (I still got no trousers that work with it).
  9. Yeah, same really. It happens that I'll put the moon up behind me and use local lights to pick out the subject if there's sufficient ambient light for the rest of the scene, but then I've found you can get nicer moons with less hassle by just putting one on a prim and aligning it with your camera angle. I know you can change the texture inside the EEP and stuff but .. Prim + local texture upload + nicking cool moon pic off Google = win.
  10. Feels like that's often the case with reviews on other sites as well. My father visited the town I'd been studying in for years, during which I'd thoroughly tested all the pizza places with a classmate to figure out which one was the best. But he didn't seem to trust our judgement, and instead went to browse reviews on some app; our favourite restaurant had like 3.4 stars, one a little further down the road had something like 4.8. I couldn't be bothered to argue about it so I let him feel like a tech wiz genius and have his pick - of course he ended up complaining about how the pizza toppings didn't feel very fresh and how the crust was all doughy and the sauce was bland, and how back in the metropolis they had better pizzas made by genuine hipsters equipped with wood burning ovens. Our favourite pizza place might not have had any hipsters or wood burning ovens, but they used fresh stuff, and the pizza crust was great. But noo, the hive mind's judgement was more important than our experience. Reading reviews can give you an idea of what to look for when demoing a product, if someone mentions the rigging looks weird when seated in a dress it might be worth trying to sit down with it to see for yourself, but I'd never buy a product based on the reviews alone. .. Peeve: soggy pizzas.
  11. Don't know why I didn't think of that, used to be half the games I played had to be tinkered with that stuff (getting Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance working on Windows 10 was a trip). Just tried it, set it to Windows 7, and .. It appears to be working!
  12. Does tossing the sun around when adjusting an EEP for a shoot so that it bounces up and down the horizon count?
  13. And safely back home, after .. A few hours of flight-time throughout the day. Last flight from Nautilus to Belli took 42 minutes, but then I wasn't going very fast at all. I also can't decide whether I want to stick with the yellow livery or if I should try making it red instead, but that'll be a question for another day! Now to drive home, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes or so. That is as long as I don't get lost, can never remember the way on all these zig-zagging roads with all their random dead-ends.
  14. Night flying in fog. Navigation is easy enough with the map, but we'll have to see how the landing bit goes .. Also put in a diesel engine in this thing, and it's loud. Which means I get to crank up the music!
  15. Last I played around with that it didn't allow you to actually save animations, have they changed that now? @NiranV Dean was saying something about LL not allowing it or something a while back, unless I misremember.
  16. Not sure what's up with it, tried doing fresh installs and everything, but no matter what I do it freezes to unresponsiveness whenever a bone is manipulated (it bounces back after a few seconds, but it's pretty annoying to work with 80% of the work time being just waiting for it to catch its breath). Not having any performance issues with anything else with the computer either, it's just with Qavimator. I got it working once when rebooting the computer, but that broke again. Any ideas what might be causing it? From what I gather, the creator isn't active anymore, so I guess it might be time to start considering alternatives if it can't be fixed - so, alternatively to fixes, are there any animation programs that doesn't require me to work in Blender?
  17. If you haven't put both 'petite' and 'curvy' in the keywords you're not doing it right!
  18. Except you're also fully allowed to ban actual offenders (or, anyone you'd like to, really - if I wanted to ban a forumite from my Linden Home because I disagree with their way of shooting pictures sideways that's my prerogative - whether they ever have or will set foot on my land; there's no appealing from being banned from a Linden Home). Some random guy showed up naked on my sky platform last night and started trying to hit on one of my alts (it happens every once in a while), I banned him from the parcel and blocked him, took a few button clicks and maybe 3 seconds of my time. I don't even have any security system, if someone's moving through then why should I waste effort or land impact on making sure that they can't stay for longer than 30 seconds - you can walk across the parcel in maybe 15 seconds on foot. If someone would happen to stay for 32 seconds it doesn't really bother me anyway, especially the vast amount of time I'm not even there myself. If someone pops up in my skybox or on my platform uninvited that's an obvious transgression and easy enough to deal with. As per the covenant:
