  1. I'm just glad as long as people don't call me Onwar. Or Orwan. Or Omar. Or, when spoken, people tend to think they heard either 'Oliver' or 'Oskar'. I don't much mind if a close friend calls me 'Or' on occasion, but having a random stranger come up to me acting all chummy like that really peeves me. Like, heck, we're hardly at first-name basis - that's Herr Furlgrimr to you, Ms. Morningstar no. 3489.
  2. Nope, nothing as clever as that. Just people being too lazy to say 'gasoline'. Three whole syllables in a word you may have to say several times in any given week or even day? Pfuh!
  3. No. It does, however, change with pressure. And pressure, of course, changes with altitude (assuming you're not in a pressurised environment, such as an aeroplane - although most pressurised cabins don't have 'sea level' pressure, but something comparable to 6,000-8,000 feet - which is why tea brewed on a flight tastes sh!te, as water boils at around 91C at such pressure, but that's a question of thermochemistry rather than pressure or altitude).
  4. I don't know if I'd call that 'style'. Scoffs derisively.
  5. As long as you promise that your event gift won't be exclusively in teal ..
  6. Gas is short for 'gasoline', just unlike how the colonials thought filling their cars with 'gas' was fine, the Brits promptly decided it sounded wrong to say they'd gone filled their car up with 'some pet'.
  7. Red-light district in Belli? Feels a bit like putting powdered sugar on custard. Can't chuck a prim without hitting naked people around the grid as it is.
  8. I very seldom see any apparel that I'm actually interested in that isn't rigged for Gianni, but then I'm fairly conservative about what I'll wear, and very picky about quality. A lot of the Jake/Legacy exclusive stuff is either fetishwear or baggy board shorts model 2 version 4479 textured by a half-blind monkey. I'm not huge on fantasy-wear but I think if I were, that could be a slight issue with Gianni as it's predominantly smaller, niche creators that drop Gianni. Between Deadwool and ColdAsh, with a dash of Legal Insanity and Ascend - and the occasional ContraptioN - pretty much all my virtual male fashion desires are quite fulfilled. If you want to run around dressed like that, go Jake. Shrugs.
  9. Because the freezing point and boiling point of water .. Isn't?
  10. It's not as if things being metric changes how you measure something. You can use a prim ruler as described above, or you can walk to the edge of the parcel and note your coordinates and then head to the opposite edge and subtract the lower number, and the difference is your parcel width. When you've got your width and depth you simply multiply them, just as you would if you were measuring with yards or feet or chains or furlongs. .. Or you just look at the about land tab and see the parcel size at the bottom of the general tab.
  11. I second passengers of SL, there's usually several flights any given day (and seemingly pretty much all around the clock).
  12. Got me thinking of that Blood Elf 'pickup' line for some reason. "You know what I love about your eyes, when I look deep enough, I can see my own reflection."
  13. Oh that wouldn't at all lead to any virtual stink bomb griefing or anything ..
  14. Yup, dressage didn't really become a 'civilian' sport until the 20th century. Before then it was all about horse handling for cavalrymen. Still is, in some cases - although these days, military on horse is mostly ceremonial (but both in Sweden and the UK, the respective royal guards are still actual military forces).
  15. Training war horses and police horses is a whole lot of work. And historically, war horses were insanely expensive (both because of the breeding and training). On his coronation in 1377, Richard II of England rode a £200 horse - which, according to the Bank of England's inflation calculator is .. £189,612 ($237,393). That of course doesn't mean much, because not only has currency seen inflation, but the prices of stuff we buy with currency has shifted - but basically you could have that one horse, or about 700 'regular' horses. It mightn't have been quite worth a kingdom, but possibly a county or two.
  16. Cats and Christmas trees don't go well together, anyway!
  17. That would be great, and if I do get something you'll come and install it for me too, right? Maybe even adjust the textures a little to make it fit the theme of my home and such.
  18. Here we've of course been tainted by 'Murrican culture to some extent, going into the cities there'll be coloured lights and plastic Coca Cola Santa trash all over (the nearest supermarket looks decked out like a red light district). But the more traditional stuff is also present, mostly pine branches in front of the doors (to clean the snow off your shoes before you go inside), wreaths on the doors and maybe some garlands, advent stars and/or advent wreaths, and/or orange pomanders in the windows. It also does get terribly dark here, so when there's good snow (like now) a lot of people (particularly those with children in their homes) have snowball lanterns by their driveways or beside their doors, or along the paths in their gardens. I think most Swedes still prefer just 'plain' yellow lights though, feels a lot warmer and cosier than having a disco setup in the garden.
  19. The Snowlands in Sansara feels a lot more Christmas-y than anything in Belli just from being covered in snow, and a lot of builds there are Christmas inspired so there's no shortage of bright, coloured lights and stuff. It's also a whole lot nicer to navigate, less laggy and the road network isn't a suburban maze. Also stuff you can actually stop and do, like skiing or ice skating, there's lots of winter sport stuffs to play with. Also plenty of GTFO hubs around, which can be a very nice way to explore places.
