  1. Any skull will do, really. Just attach it to your .. Skull. Don't know of any specific skull 'heads' off the top of my head.

Woop, just grabbed an updated top that now has LaraX rigging. I no longer only have bras to wear! .. Now I'll just need some trousers ..

It's not so much the butt being flat as it is the whole hip section of the body being a lot curvier than 5.3. You know how deformer packs usually have 1-3 steps that are usually what you'd use and then perhaps as many more that take things someplace mad? To achieve the aforementioned backside, I'm using the 6th step of my thigh gap deformers. Without the deformer the femurs are practically scraping against each other. But because the deformer forces the thighs apart without doing much to the hip I'm free to squish it good and then push the legs back apart. The same deformer with 5.3 and my shape for that would let a bus through.

Well, I'm not sure whether I ought to divulge my arcane butt-sculpting techniques .. Let's just say things got cranked well past 11.

Better if they fix it now than in 9 months when people have either learned to live with it or went for a different body. Although I think the butt is pretty much where it's going to have to be, even if there aren't a lot of clothes out yet the creators have probably already started making stuff with the kit and it'd' have to be entirely re-rigged. I doubt the dimples are really any important to anything aside from creating triangle hot-spots. It's not a whole lot of extra triangles in the grand scheme of things, but why are they so deep? Are they intended as cup holders for shot glasses or something?

It's how they capture light. Because they're at a different angle (essentially 'all angles' on account of being an inverse half-sphere), it will catch light even when nothing else in that area does which essentially makes them glow. It's just how lighting in SL works, if a surface is facing a point light which has sufficient reach, it'll be lit up. And of course, it also works in reverse. If the light does reach the lower back, then the parts of the dimple facing away from it will not get lighting, and instead get severe shadows. .. Looks like a fricking belly button. I've known people with three nipples, but three belly buttons?!

It's as much a 'solution' as to advise someone to gauge their eyes out because their partner bought an ugly sweater. It does far more damage than anything it fixes, and everyone else will still see your partners ugly sweater. The other advise used to be to cover it up, hence why everyone and their dogs wore a collar. Until the universal neck fixed it, for those heads/bodies that uses it. And I suppose that'll be the in the same vein as the better advise for the Venus dimple situation - just cover them up. I think the idea of fixing the rigging to make the body easier to rig for and fixing the shoulders that had everyone's knickers in a twist weren't bad ideas for Lara, even with how it would break older content (could just wear the 5.3 with your old wardrobe). But giving us a BBL-surgery .. Not so much.

I'm .. Obviously not using Midday? Making the entirety of SL essentially full-bright isn't really a valid long-term solution though, is it?

Well, I think I managed to almost tame the butt. But after staring at the rear for so long I've started getting pretty peeved by the deep, meshed Venus dimples. Feels like something one could have achieved with a BOM layer rather than creating a light-catching pair of parabolas that stand out in almost every lighting setting I tried. Good thing I prefer high-waist trousers, I guess. May have to keep tinkering with the sliders a bit more, but it's getting somewhere decent. Managed to make the rear flatter without messing up the stomach too much. Even in this angle the Venus dimple glares.

Watching the LaraX hits on the MP grow .. Very slowly .. People be cranking out shapes in a hurry though, it seems.

Searching for 'lara x' will include everything that has 'lara' or an 'x' in it. You can either put it within citation marks ("Lara X") or skip the space (LaraX), it'll probably take a little while before people settle on how to name the sizing on the MP (I'm leaning towards 'LaraX', as I reckon most people don't know how to do Boolean searches).

The butt has grown quite a lot, both in width and volume. For us skinny folks that's kind of a big deal. Before: After: Not sure if there's such a thing as a butt width deformer, or if I'll have to push the hips in and then use a stronger thigh gap deformer to keep the legs from clipping into each other. I do like the flank profile being smoother though.
  13. My partner and I started re-furnishing the bedroom a little while back, and then we got side-tracked by Christmas decorating. We started running into the LI cap of the house though, so as she wasn't around tonight I figured I'd do something about the wainscoting. Messed around with Blender for a bit, and then I did a bit of work on some old textures I had lying around, and suddenly the bedroom wainscoting went from 24 LI for the old mesh panels I'd bought to 3 LI. Still might need to tinker a bit more with the textures to get the tone just right, but on the whole I feel like it went pretty well! Also need to figure out what goes on the wall over the bed, and some more knick-knacks ..
  14. Europeans got rid of a lot of holidays in the aftermath of the reformation, in England it went from 95 to 27 in 1536 (plus the 52 Sundays, which of course remained). As a somewhat unfortunate side-effect that meant 68 more work days per year (which is largely the basis of the statement that people today work a lot harder than medieval peasants - church-going was also very different back then, many of the celebrations included feasting and people were served beer; of course back then beer was considered a 'gift from God', but apparently he must have had a change of heart?). Giving thanks at the end of the harvest season absolutely was (and to some extent, still is) a concept that's being observed, but it varies from place to place. It's pretty interesting though, that the Puritans in Europe wanted to get rid of all the holidays (minus Sundays, of course) - and then they go over yonder and a few centuries later there's now a feast that nearly rivals Christmas in its excess. .. Must be Capitalism, or something. Shrugs.
  15. Then I shall blame it all on you. Also, when are you taking me clothes shopping? And my inventory is a mess! I feel neglected. Huffs.
  16. I feel left out. Have I not been naughty enough?! Don't go too hard on them. Judging by their spelling, it would seem you're up against a third grader!
  17. All right, that's one corner done for now .. On to the next!
  18. Just started with the Christmas decor too. Dressing a Christmas tree is good practice for aligning stuff .. Still more to be done, but I don't want it to end up looking like it got hit with a 'Murrican.
  19. I can take it. No promises I'll spend it wisely though!
  20. It's been terrible, even with draw distance pushed as low as it goes, starting at a vendor stall for 30 minutes, teleporting out and back, trying the wireframe trick, and relogging doesn't always manage to fix it. Even when there's nothing else within camera view, the loading indicator flashes red like it's having a stroke and nothing happens. On the bright side, being unable to go shopping saves me money, I guess.
  21. There are a few malls with rentals around, but I don't know if people actually go to malls in-world anymore. You can set up a small shop pretty easy by renting land (just make sure it allows commercial use). Depends on the type of creations, I suppose. If by 'test-drive' you mean vehicles I can think of a few things you could try. If you mean clothes or such .. Set up a Blogotex, get a few bloggers, perhaps.
