However, the quality of the support seems to depend on, which team needs to handle the problem, I had always good results, when it comes to region problems, answer times usually under two hours and the issues had always been resolved.
  2. Yep, Firestorm has a direct V1-UI-setting. However, for me it's V3 all around. I hate the V1-UI. For numerous reasons: Pie-Menu. up to 4 mouse clicks for stuff, that's done with 1 mouse click on the regular windows style menu. No Addressbar. Quickly pasting and/or entering/editing locations is an absolute must. No Outfit-dialogue. Easy selecting/editing/saving outfits is a must. No Places-dialogue. I often need to have it open separate from the inventory. I hate digging through the folder tree just to get to my Landmarks. Fixed buttonbar on the bottom. The flexible toolbars of any V3-viewer run rings around that one. Unreadable titles on minimized dialogues. Bad color/text contrast on the UI. I wonder, what the designer had smoked at that time. Since the LL-devs took out the handbrake on the latest SL-viewer, I don't use Singularity anymore, I guess, I throw it off the machine today. The only reason for me to use Singularity was the performance. Since the latest SL-viewer offers the same performance with the added comfort of the V3-UI, I don't need Singularity anymore.
  3. Got hammered in Epione, this is the perpetrator: Now you know, what to look for. The two in Epione are now AR'd. The dialog shows the owners name, using Firestorms Area Search it is easy to find it. And AR it. We don't need no stinking copybotter spam.
  4. Well, it depends on the quality of the location and what is offered in forms of public infrastructure, zoning, etc. Quality rentals like Lionheart Estates take around L$1,80 to 1,90 per prim, Anshe Chung for example takes between L$1,40 to 2,00 per prim, depending on location. Mainland rentals starting around L$1,10, but that's usually unzoned land, often surrounded by concrete industrial structures. Remember, if the area is nice and well kept, renters are willing to pay more. But then, in RL it's the same - see Greater London realestate prices...
  5. Does a nudity detector even exist? If you do your changing in a closed room, I see no problem. Linden Lab sees only, what gets reported.
  6. The difference here is, that the issuing institute is a brick&mortar bank, operating under polish and EU-banking regulations. In other words: I trust them more than Paypal. Way more. Plus, it's a prepaid card, if something goes wrong, the maximum damage is the amount loaded on the card. And that's how I treat my SL-Account, I put only on it, what I just need, plus a small bit in reserve, so if the account gets burgled, the damage is only a few Euros maximum and the inventory - which is mostly free stuff anyway.
  7. I got the same landmark offerings at a certain location from the same guy. Obviously that resident has dropped a bunch of greeter devices along the road, where the H4-Tourpod is going. Solution: If you have time, the viewer gives you the location of the device, when you decline the offer. Find it, report it. Device might be transparent, so CTRL+ALT+T makes it visible. If you don't have time, go somewhere else. It'll stop.
  8. Well, it is not prohibited to make an ass out of yourself. And being logged in 24/7 isn't prohibited either. Recommending reporting Spammers/Harassment is allowed too. However, what he is doing with the red balls is similar to a call-out-thread here on the forum, and I'm not sure, if LL likes that. Such threads are usually removed from the forum.
  9. AnnMarie Otoole wrote: "If something else failed, like hair falling off avatars, would you tell everyone to stop wearing hair?" Of course not, I would tell the hair maker to fix the damn thing. Like I'm telling you to fix the damn cars. AnnMarie Otoole wrote: "In my case the problem is no-entry doesn't work all the time..." It does work - all the time. Just not against objects accelerated to a high speed. This function is there to keep occasional object droppers out, not objects shot into a parcel. And that's one of the problems your vehicles produce, as I have it seen happen, the vehicle encounters a sim crossing and accelerates rapidly and shoots itself into a parcel. No entry doesn't block that, so if scripts are blocked as well, you get a stranded vehicle. Another problem: Vehicles get stuck in banlines. That happens, because the vehicles try to follow parcel borders of Linden-roads. That doesn't work! And seeing, where your vehicles go because of that, it is no wonder, they get stuck. Solution: Keep the vehicles on the road, so they don't touch No-Entry-/No-Script-Land. It's that simple. Your vehicles have to adapt to the environment, it is not LL's duty to adapt SL to your vehicles. Got it? AnnMarie Otoole wrote: "Within 12 hours I had over 200 vehicles on the no-entry land and had to get the Lindens to clear it." That clearly shows, that your vehicles have a serious fault. Or even multiple faults. Ok, enough is enough! Fix the damn things. It is not SL's fault. It is not Linden Lab's fault. It is YOUR fault. Noone else is to blame except you.
  10. Ouch! Someone @ LL missed the bus here... (Watched & voted)
  11. Coffee must be brewed at 100°C (212°F) to get a decent taste out of it. And in Germany, if beverages and food is kept warm, it must be kept above 72°C (162°F) for hygienic reasons. 72°C is the cut-off temperature for E.Coli and Legionella pneumophila. McDonalds coffee is of acceptable quality over here, as here everyone with an IQ above that of an amoeba knows, that coffee is to be served hot.
  12. Yes, these guys still exist. However, the backend on peek360 seems to be broken. Filed an request on http://peek360.avatrian.com/ in January to get my X-mas deco snapped, but no bot has ever visited my parcel.
  13. Ok, since Mrs OToole now refuses to remove her junk, I will now AR these abominations. Maybe that will get things moving. Other operators/proprietors of automated vehicles don't leave a mess like that. They get it right from the beginning. For the last time, AnnMarie, rewrite the scripts! Implement different algorythms and methods! Use pathfinding! Use waypoints! Define exclusion zones! Keep these damn things ON the road!
  14. Did some test myself, there is a difference to the previous Version. While I have a nVidia-Card, I do get a higher GPU-Temperature as well. Standing on the top of the staircase connecting the lower parcel with the upper one, I do get: Firestorm 4.3.1: 8.3fps & 50°C Singularity 1.7.3: 29fps & 55°C SL-Viewer 3.4.5: 29fps & 56°C SL-Viewer 3.4.4: ~8fps & ~50°C In all cases: Deferred Rendering on, Shadows on (Sun, Moon, Projectors), Draw range 192m All Sliders fully to the right, except Sky/Windlight, Water transparent, Reflections minimum. GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 650, CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 945 @ 3.0GHz. I have the impression, that until now, most viewers running with slightly reduced performance maybe to prevent overheating. My advice would be, in case there is a heat problem with the new viewer, make sure the GPU-cooler fan runs properly and is relatively free of dust. Plus, AMD includes with some Radeon-drivers a Overclocking tool, use that to reduce the GPU-clock. This tool usually works in both directions. Check, if it is included with yours. I for one like the fact, that the LL-devs had released the handbrake on the new viewer. Methinks, I no longer need Singularity with the crappy V1-UI.
  15. Set the stream in the 'About Land'-Dialogue in the Audio or Sound tab. That works everywhere on your parcel.
  16. From what I've read from a number of sources, a few Emerald developers had allegedly done less than savoury things. However, most of the Emerald developers had nothing to do with that and some of those honest devs joined the Phoenix/Firestorm team. But some residents still have problems with that. Guilty by association, you know. I see things differently, Firestorm is listed on the TPV-list, there hasn't been any security issues in the Firestorm viewer, that would point to any foul play in any form, only the usual stability problems, that plague the official viewer as well, when new technology/code from LL is introduced. That's why I have no problems in recommending the Firestorm-viewer. If there are security problems, this would make the rounds here on the forums quite quickly. Personally, I haven't seen anything regarding the viewers on the official TPV-List here on the forums and elsewhere atleast in the last 12 months.
  17. Well, both rules apply. It simply depends on, who disseminates the information. If I write: "Solstyse lives at <RL-address> and you can visit her whenever you want" then I violate the privacy rules in the TOS. If you write: "Hi, I'm Solstyse, I live at <RL-address> and everyone can come visit me" then you publish your own personal information, it then becomes public information according to the privacy policy. Because you decided to publish your information. Whenever you give out personal data or give others permission to do so, it's your own fault. If another resident starts digging and gives out personal data without your permission, then you can AR that resident. And of course, only if the data is published on LL-infrastructure. Outside any equipment/network operated by Linden Lab, you are on your own, that means, you have to contact the abuse help desk/support of the site, where your personal information has been published. Linden Lab won't intervene on your behalf at Reddit, Wordpress, Google+, etc., nor would they ban a resident in SL because of what he/she does on other sites. I hope, that makes it clear now.
  18. It already exists. It's called Singularity: https://sites.google.com/site/singularityviewer/ I use Firestorm for building / Scripting stuff and Singularity, when I need fast rendering, especially when travelling.
  19. If you can't get in, a look here is advised: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
  20. I'd say, yes. Local chat is local (<20m) for a reason. My advice: Ask first. If the residents involved say no, don't do it.
  21. The Sim is currently up, noting in the parcel description of the landing point: "Please remove your items". However, shutting down a sim without warning, that's daft. One of the reasons, why I'm reluctant to buy 'No-Copy'-items. And the main reason, why I'm staying on the mainland.
  22. Rhys Goode wrote: "The crash statistics (objective data, unless you think there is a conspiracy to make them up) say SL is more stable than its ever been. This is certianly true for me, I rarely crash at all." Same here, doesn't matter, if I use Firestorm, Singularity or the SL-Viewer, I don't have any crashes at all. But I still remember times, when a crash every two hours was the norm for me. Rhys Goode wrote: " My ISP provides a link has the annoying habit of going dead for minutes at a time, at random intervals. No internet traffic at all." Ouch. That's deadly for all applications, that need constant synchronization. That results also in bake fails for your avatar. Others see only parts or a cloud. I do suggest, that you have a serious talk with your ISP/Phone provider. There could be something wrong with the cabling or the DSL- / Cable-Modem, maybe sync loss due to electrical interference.
  23. If less glamorous is ok, the Flamingo Court Motel has rooms available: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Juanita/159/71/91 Or try the Celtic Tower in Ravenglass: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ravenglass/237/68/70
  24. Yep, had reread it. One should be more awake when reading stuff. :smileyfrustrated: 16 wrote: "linden at this time have been saying that SSB only works on avatar skins and clothing/tattoo layers that are grouped in a outfit under Outfits. the old way of baking clientside still works like it do now as well. like if you put each layer on direct from inventory" Seriously, who clicks an outfit from the inventory together and then doesn't save it into the outfit folder (V1-style) or appearance dialogue (V3 viewer.) Ok, no prims or mesh, but then SSB provides atleast the chance to prevent embarrassing moments due to bake fail.
