I think, it could create issues, since the names don't match, I don't know, how stringent LL is about this. Alternative: A prepaid creditcard, cost 10 to 30 euros per year, can be loaded via bank transfer and behaves like a normal creditcard towards LL. Only point to observe, there must be enough funds on the card for a purchase, otherwise that purchase is refused. For buying L$, the creditcard should be sufficient, pay out from the SL-Account need PayPal.
  2. The problem is: Customers of these Third Party Exchanges (TPEs), that had acquired or deposited L$ there, but haven't transferred these L$ into their SL-accounts. Now most TPEs have ceased trading in L$, including transferring existing L$ onto SL. That money hangs in the air, as these TPEs also stopped converting L$ into real money (US$, EUR,etc.). Now the only way to recoup that money is possibly through legal proceedings. Which in turn is only useful, if we talk about serious amounts of money. If it is only about a few hundreds of L$, it is better to write that off, it is just not worth the hassle. (US$1,-- ~ L$250,-- / EUR1,-- ~ L$310,--) Luckily I got my money out of a TPE just before that one stopped trading/converting L$. Phew. For me, the termination of the TPEs means additional effort and cost to get money into SL, I have to get a creditcard (EUR10,-- extra a year), I have to charge it (EUR1,-- per recharge), while with the TPE, I simply could use bank transfer (zero cost) and the exchange rate was close to LindeX.
  3. Ahemm. That Anshe Chung password reset thread is from February. Just sayin'.
  4. Well, a few hundred kBytes of text have been written in the last two days at various places about this topic. From that and the reactions seen from most TPEs, I can only deduct: Game over for TPEs. Effective immediately. Plus, there maybe or maybe not more communication going on behind closed doors we don't know anything about it. That's why I say: Play it safe until a further clarification comes from the Lab. I wouldn't gamble on the 30 day-ToS-grace period. Your money could end up in limbo at one of the remaining operating TPEs. And in regard of the wording of that mail, we know the fantastic communication skills of the lab, so I say, it is better to err on the side of caution. Luckily, I've never operated a TPE or a business inside SL, so this whole saga is only a minor inconvenience to me.
  5. Dillon Levenque wrote: "I think it's time to bundle all the threads about this topic into one mega-thread called "Doing the Misinformation Tango"." Yup, would be beneficial, as it would make it easier to weed out misinformation. Now after two days this saga presents this picture to me: 1.: Users can buy & sell L$ everywhere, but since it is not 'authorized' according to the ToS, if something goes pear shaped, the money and possibly the account is gone. In other words: You're on your own, total loss is a high probability. My advice: Use LindeX exclusively, that is the lowest risk. If you don't have a creditcard, Prepaid-CreditCards are available for small money. Some are even available at your local convenience store / gas station. If you need to cash out your L$, PayPal is a must. (CreditCards never have really taken off here in Germany, direct debit & bank transfer are the main methods of payment online, EC-Card in stores.) 2.: Third Party Exchanges (TPE) must stop trading L$ immediately, or their accounts get terminated. Some TPEs try the 30-day ToS-grace period. I'm not sure, if that is a good idea. Virwox states this today: "" 2013-05-09: UPDATE on changes in Linden Lab's TOS Linden Lab has recently changed their Terms of Service. Under the new rules, we will no longer be able to offer our service to Second Life residents. Linden Lab insists that our in-world terminals (ATMs) have to be removed. This means that we can currently not accept Linden Dollars from Second Life or pay Linden Dollars to Second Life." ( https://www.virwox.com/buy-linden-dollars.php?language=en ) So I stick to my advice: Use Linden Lab-approved methods only. TPEs are dead and off-limits until further notice. Methinks, the lab interpretes the ToS slightly differently, depending on who is affected. As a precaution, I go with the stiffer interpretation - see my advice.
  6. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: "Are we really supposed to believe that Linden Lab sent an informal email to a business without any contact info on it?" Sorry to burst your bubble, but we're dealing with the Lab here, not a normal business entity. And you know, how defective their communication skills are. Plus, this comes from a different operator in Germany: http://www.slinfo.de/forum/showthread.php?t=32855&s=cfb053bc1f16721dd06cc987e9f3c2d7&p=555099&viewfull=1#post555099 Same Text. Happy now? Btw. he confirms, that two other exchanges received the same mail: Milz Yue wrote on SLInfo.de: "Habe 2 Kollegen gefragt die haben die gleiche Email bekommen." (I asked two colleagues, they received the same mail) Drake1 Nightfire wrote: "Fixed the link for you..." Yeah, by breaking it. It ends now on the first page of the thread.
  7. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: Can you post a link to one of those blogs? Here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Updated-Terms-Of-Service/td-p/1997113/page/3 Last entry (30) on that page, the poster is an operator of an exchange.
  8. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: "If this is true , then they are banning them from having an inworld presence. the ToS clearly states they are not banned." It is true, the exchanges have been ordered by email to cease all trading in L$ immediately and remove any items connected to their exchange service. If this order isn't followed, a ban will follow. ( The text of this email has been posted on numerous blogs and fora. ) So, having an inworld presence isn't a problem, offering exchange services is the problem here. The interesting question will be: Anshex seems to be still online. Will the Lab play hardball with the Anshe Chung-Empire? Or will the size of this Empire keep the Lab at bay?
  9. Yevad Doobie wrote: "Yes, there are bugs. Yes, there will always be bugs." Yes, bugs do occur and need to be fixed, however, if a bug somewhere else affects the operation of an item, then the programming of the item needs to be changed to accommodate the environment and its bugs. Since you mention the Automated Vehicle Guidelines, I took a look and from that, I think AnnMarie's vehicles violate section 3 & 6 of the Community Standards. 3.: Assault Most areas in Second Life are identified as Safe. Assault in Second Life means: shooting, pushing, or shoving another Resident in a Safe Area (see Global Standards below); creating or using scripted objects which singularly or persistently target another Resident in a manner which prevents their enjoyment of Second Life. Why? The tanks shoot at passing residents and vehicles, her vehicles are not phantom, so anyone standing in the way is pushed around, pushed aside, shoved and run over. 6.: Disturbing the Peace Every Resident has a right to live their Second Life. Disrupting scheduled events, repeated transmission of undesired advertising content, the use of repetitive sounds, following or self-spawning items, or other objects that intentionally slow server performance or inhibit another Resident's ability to enjoy Second Life are examples of Disturbing the Peace Why? Repetitive sounds -> the Ice cream truck 'music' and the littering of the landscape. The music isn't that bad as it reaches only a few meters, but the littering problem is what irks many residents. In my view, all of these problems can be fixed by fixing the vehicles ONLY, however AnnMarie tries to shift the blame and flatly refuses to take responsibility for her junk. Pleading with her via IM and publicly via the forum hasn't achieved anything. (Note: Before anyone gets a false impression, I don't have a problem with automated vehicles, au contraire, the more the merrier. What I do have a problem with is being pushed around or seeing inoperable vehicles littering the landscape at almost every region border and numerous other places.)
  10. Either you are a troll, hell bend on making road & land use as miserable as possible for everyone, or you are dumber than I could imagine in my wildest dreams. There is absolutely no other explanation possible, seeing your answers. Now to your answers point by point: 1.: It is YOUR problem. And your problem alone. If you would keep your vehicles on the road, then this problem simply wouldn't exist. But it seems, that you are either too lazy or too dumb to fix the scripts in your vehicles. 2.: If I hadn't found these things by the roadside, I would not mention it. Besides, if I want to catch a bullet, I go into a weapon enabled sandbox. I expect the public roads to be a save area. 3.: I don't see me as 'fun police', I see the responses in this and the other thread in the people forum. and these responses clearly show me, residents are fed up with your junk littering the landscape. 4.: I'm not comparing liabilities, I'm comparing responsibilities. It's as simple as that. Too complicated to understand? If I release something into the environment, no matter if it is in real life or in a virtual environment like SL, I am responsible, that it doesn't have negative effects on that environment. And it is the same for you and your vehicles. Shouldn't be that hard to understand? Or is it? 5.: And again you seem to be unable to grasp the issue here. It is your junk, that creates the problems here, the landowners surely didn't invite you to leave your junk there. Keeping your vehicles ON the road would solve that problem immediately. 6.: I don't make the rules, that is true, however you seem to stretch the rules as far as possible to make everyone's road use as miserable as possible, instead of being a good neighbor by trying to keep the impact on the environment as low as possible. And a reminder: Your vehicles have to adapt to the environment. Noone else, including Linden Lab has to change anything to accommodate your defective vehicles. YOU have to fix the scripts. YOU alone. Noone else. Final question: Have you ever learned in your life to take personal responsibility for your actions?
  11. Oh, my, you are so thick, it is absolutely unbelievable. Let's go through the points one by one: 1.: The landowner's problem?!? Sorry to burst your bubble, but the pile-ups are your problem. And when you have time to admire your 'work', you have time to remove the junk and to apologize for ruining their enjoyment of SL. 2.: I hate it. And these bullets get stuck as well. Ahh, more litter... 3.: It isn't fun. and the sooner it stops, the better it is. 4.: You did create the problem. If I crash into the neighbors front garden, I cannot excuse myself by claiming the road is buggy, I have to make sure, I put the right tyres on my car, tyres suitable for the weather, road conditions and season. If I don't, I'm fully responsible for any damage caused by failing to follow these rules. In your case it means, you have to change the way your vehicles behave. Regard a bug as a change in road conditions and adapt your vehicles accordingly. It is your duty to make your vehicles roadworthy. 5.: No, YOU are THE problem. A landowner/tenant has the right to set the parcel options as they think it suits themselves best. That's why they are paying rent/tier and not you. Your vehicles have to stay off their land, UNLESS you have EXPLICIT permission to enter the land. 6.: Do me a favor, stop telling fairytales. It seems you still live in lala-land, where everything just works to your imagination. Sorry to shatter your dreams, but it is time to accept the reality and to accept responsibility for your actions. In other words: Fix your damn cars! And do it now! It is your responsibility. And yours only!

  14. Same problem here, no credit card. I use Eldexchange, as it follows european banking- and money laundering prevention laws and I can use bank transfer / direct debit with them, as these are the main ways to transfer money here in Germany. If I can't use Eldexchange any longer, it would mean, that I have to take down my two parcels and pack up everything. I addition, I won't touch PayPal with a ten feet barge pole. They screwed up too many people in the past, some customers had to resort to tougher measures, like pressing charges at the police against PayPal, just to get their money out. I won't put my bank account at risk by linking it to anything related to PayPal.
  15. It isn't allowed. The problem is, that Abuse Reports are being completely ignored, unless they come in hard & fast & massive and the perpetrators are overdoing it to the extreme. The first Goonsquad attack on 5 properties was completely ignored, the property owners had to cleanup the mess themselves. The same happened with the 'Dick-Dish'-Spammer attack in Patagonia, again the property owners had to do the clean-up. Only the second Gonnsquad-attack was big enough to trigger any activity in the AR-Department. What are they doing the whole day? Sleeping like a good german government official? Is there even anyone anymore?
  16. Perrie Juran wrote: "Vehicle use on Mainland Roads should be limited to vehicles under direct controlled (i.e., manned or womanned)." I do have to disagree here. Vehicles from other operators rarely get stuck. It is now over one year since my return to SL and in that time I found about 5 Yavascript tourpods physically stuck at region crossings. Most of them removed themselves, one I had to report to the operator, it was very quickly removed. I haven't seen any of the Paradise jeeps stuck anywhere. Annmarie's automated abominations are practically the only vehicles that get stuck in masses. And everywhere. Btw, manned vehicles get stuck as well, as rider and vehicle get separated at region crossings. But in far, far lower numbers than Annmarie's vehicles. And then her purported connections to Linden Management - I call BS on that one.
  17. How often do I need to tell you, that it is NOT the Lab's duty to change the inner workings of SL to accommodate your defective vehicles. It is YOUR and ONLY YOUR duty to fix up your vehicles, so that this littering stops. Once and for all. Just like in real life, where cars are made compatible to existing roads, existing weather, existing fuel, etc. And I see absolutely no reason, why it should be different in SL. So, swallow your damn pride and fix the damn things! Other operators of automated vehicles manage that too, so why don't you?
  18. Melita Magic wrote: "My brain screeched its tires when you said AnnMarie's vehicles are off the grid. For good????" Sadly not, they were off for about a week, but now the junk is fouling up the grid again. And the littering problem hasn't been fixed as well. The junk is still piling up at the usual hotspots.
  19. Suggestions: 1st: Remove the name from your post. Call-out thread are against forum rules. 2nd.: Report that guy for fraud. 3rd.: Contact billing about this. 4th.: In the future, make a written contract. You may want to look up 'Work for hire'-contracts. Include RL name & address of the customer in this contract. That way you have a legal standing in RL and you can take the customer to small claims court, if this happens again.
  20. The shoulderblade issue (chicken wings) is a very old problem, that still needs to be fixed. The reason is the simple avatar model with its low polygon count in some areas When setting Torso Muscles to a low value, the viewer tries to make the upper body look thinner by carving out the arm pits: ( see red circles) The result: Holes and chickenwings. I did it here a bit to the extreme, with Torso Muscles set to 0. By setting Torso Muscles above 40, the defect mostly disappears. Which may not the desired solution when you try to get the mannequin look perpetrated by the fashion industry. The other problem: Fluctuating skin. The viewer animates the outermost layer, that is usually the clothing layer. If there is no clothing, the skin gets animated. However, I tried the Avatar Clothing setting and I don't see that effect anymore on bare skin. I had this effect in older viewers. I do recommend a viewer update, not only for the improved performance, but also for security reasons. (Viewers used here: Firestorm 4.4.0, SL-Viewer 3.5.1) Btw, the additional features make it worthwhlie to get Firestorm 4.4.0.
  21. We have three drawings, Wednesday, Saturday and the Euromillions on Friday. The lottoticket has twelve number blocks, it's 16 Euros per ticket, if you fill out all of them. Plus there are two extra games on the ticket which use the ticket number and their own drawing. Ok, if you only fill out one or two of the blocks and mark No on the additional games, you can go much cheaper. But then, your miserable chances are more miserable. And of course, we have the one, two and five Euro scratchies as well.
  22. Melita Magic wrote: "Do they call it "castrator" in other breedables? Ha." No, but I call it castrator, because that's what it basically is. It's called 'Eternal Pet Crystal' in the Fennux franchise and is relatively cheap @ L$495,-- WildKingdom calls it 'Forever Pet' and is a whopping L$2500,-- a pop. And if you accidentially click at the wrong spot in the menu, your cat is eating and breeding again. A redneck might think, a rifle or pumpgun is a better choice. Melita Magic wrote: "I wonder why so costly?" To offset the ceasing income stream from that forever pet. Remember what I said about printers and printer ink. Melita Magic wrote: "No company lasts forever especially not in SL. What then?" Latest case: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion/Forced-to-find-new-parcel-I-guess/td-p/1978049 Big reliable landlord disappeared over night. I can only guess, who it was, but I'm pretty sure, it was the one, I had land rented from in the past. Their website is down as well. and the owner account/profile is gone too. I estimate, that the biggest breedable franchises represent the monetary value of your local 7-11 at the max, so the financial cover won't last long, if something goes pear shaped. And since the critters are tied into an external server system, the critters die, when that server system becomes inaccessible. And that happens too. It happened to AnnMarie's automated abominations a few weeks ago, all of her vehicles were gone. The external server was still alive in that case, datagrams got lost on the way out of the SL-infrastructure. In short, your pets can die everyday and no vet in this world can revive them. Melita Magic wrote: "at least with Lotto you know how to play going in. Breedables you are expected to pay and play and wait, and maybe still get it wrong." Basically, breeding breedables is a cutified lottery. Compared to a normal lottery, the stakes are much lower, the amount of money is too. To play the three major state lotteries one week sets you back about 50 Euros, (~US$63,-) here in Germany. That's one 20-fennux-starter pack and that lasts much longer than three lotto tickets. And the probability to get your first investment out of it is also much higher than in a RL-lottery with its chance of 1 to 140 million. Melita Magic wrote: "To me that's where breedables have a built in shelf life as a 'game" And exactly it should be seen as that, not as a financial investment. If you think, the game/pet experience is worth the money you invest, fine. Just don't bet grandma's house on any significant return. @Perrie Juran: ROTFL! And doing it to a female costs the same, these castrators (crystals, honey dippers, etc.) are gender neutral. "making one sing soprano"
  23. Melita Magic wrote: "I don't know how people profit from raising them. I never understood that part." You don't make profit from raising these critters, the profit is in selling unborn critters - especially unusual/rare colors/coats. The only problem: Finding enough people to buy the not so rare ones. Some common Meeroo -variants go for less than L$40,- There is no profit in that. Only the makers of these breedables make money through the 'food' they sell. Which is the reason, why you pay through the nose for a castrator, the one for the Meeroos is L$1000,- a pop. One time use. Printers & printer ink comes to mind - same business model. And if you wonder, what the 'food' is made of, it is nothing more than an encrypted software counter.
