  1. Absolutely true. And that's something all US-governments absolutely hated. @Orca Flotta: I'm with you on this one.
  2. Phil Deakins wrote: "To the OP. You are mistaken about the number 16384. You really meant 16385." Actually, it 16384. 16 bit = 65536 individual states. That divided by 4 is 16384. To the topic at paw, since LL won't reduce tier, then atleast a bit of the savings achieved through sinking traffic cost and new more economic server technologies could be given back through a prim boost.
  3. They should. I got one, when I logged in today, then I tp'd out, so I didn't see the full set. (Patagonia: BlueSteel)
  4. Yep. Currently flying sucks like a Hoover. Tried out one of the free planes from Terra Aeronautics and aside from the occasional 'Parcel full'-errors (I wonder why LL hasn't fixed that one a long time ago), after about 3 to 4 regions, it's always off into Lala-land... -> Relog. Let's see, if the restarts today bring any improvement.
  5. Update: The two 'Dick Dish'-Spammers in Patagonia are gone. Notifying the landowner did the trick. And he activated Autoreturn. Thank you Sir. Linden Lab's AR-team? The perfect definition of a No-Show. This Spammer-Deployer now moved on onto the Alleni- and Lida-Regions, again finding parcels with Build set to Everyone and Autoreturn off.
  6. Software glitch. Leave & Rejoin seems to do the trick. Btw, SHOUTING! is not necessary here, we all have good ears. Or is your Shift-Key stuck?
  7. It seems, filing Abuse Reports is no longer possible / useful. Of almost all ARs I filed since the 25th of February and today, none of them seems to be acted upon. Those, which are resolved seem to be resolved by the landowner, as the land options often had changed. Worse yet, I no longer get the confirmation mails when filing an AR. Either I have been blocked for filing too many ARs for AnnMarie's junk or LL has decided to do away with the abuse help desk completely. I think, I'll try to raise the issue of the remaining two 'dick dish' particle spammers with the landowner, where these spammers are placed. I also will notify my landlord about the non-acting of LL in this regard. Note: The above is only in regard with Abuse Reports. The region support team (where you report offline/sick regions) are an absolute dream to work with. Response is quick and friendly and they get the job done.
  8. There isn't much to worry. What it is about, when the Firestorm-Team received the SSB-Viewercode, it had some stability issues, when integrated into the viewer's main codebase. Since Linden Lab wants to roll out Server Side Baking in the next weeks, there is not enough time to make it really rocksolid, so the next few versions of the Firestorm viewer will not have the usual stability. In other words, you might get the occasional crash. And as usual: Your mileage may vary... Seeing how stable even the Development version of the SL-Viewer runs, I don't expect anything nowhere near as desastrous as what you normally get from Microsoft.
  9. I guess, it was an oversight on the landlords side. Ask him to set the whole parcel to Adult. If he refuses, I think, then it's time for a refund.
  10. I beg to differ. Case at hand: The Boulito-Incident. http://sl.jadeclaw.de/Snapshot_383.png What happened: A griefer dumped hundreds of yellow balls onto Shermerville, these balls have a peculiar kind of motion, using rounding errors to move into 'No-Entry'-parcels. The key-point here is, Autoreturn took care of these balls on Linden-land AND on all private parcels, where Autoreturn was active. The balls only remained on the borders of parcels with Autoreturn off, producing a ton of red particle balls and a deafening noise. I travel a lot, so I see a lot, also a lot of junk dumped on public and private land, and where the junk remained, Autoreturn is always off. The latest cases (Goonsqad cubes, the rotating genital cube @ Shelef, the rotating junk @ Sage, AnnMarie's automated abominations) where all on land with Autoreturn switched off. Addendum: I just logged into my parcel @ Patagonia and what do I see: A bunch of particle spammers, raining 'Say it with Pen**'-particles down on the ground below. And guess where they were placed? On parcels with Autoreturn set to 0 (Off). The majority of parcels are owned by Ravenglass and these are set to Autoreturn 1 Minute by default. Result: No junk gets deposited there.
  11. Since there is now feedback, we don't know. However, when inworld objects are the reason of an AR, one can look, if the junk is still there. If the junk is gone, there is atleast a 50% chance, that a Linden did the clean-up. (The other 50% would be the landowner.) I have had mixed results, some of the stuff is gone, when check back sometime later, some of it is still there. The size/impact seems to play a role too, big egregious junk gets taken care of first. A lot of ARs would be unnecessary, if landowners would do something simple: Activate Autoreturn! Most junk would be gone in a matter of a few hours or minutes.
  12. I have AR'd the two in Epione on 27th February, still there, the cubes in Bouraq are gone, since there is no feedback from the abuse-desk, we don't know, if a Linden had removed them or if the landowner did it. The junk in Gallii is still there. However, I filed the ARs for Gallii & Bouraq yesterday and since the Lindens have the right to an undisturbed weekend too, I expect, that someone takes care of that junk at the beginning of next week. And then there was that colorful rotating junk in Sage, that stuff is gone.
  13. Perrie Juran wrote: "Bring back the Chat Bar for Local Chat. Again, it should be an option which we use. I could be wrong but my prediction is that this will be the number one complaint you are going to hear when this all goes live." You have my vote on that one. It is much simpler to use when entering commands for attachments and objects.
  14. And here is one from the 'Cute'-department: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ribeata/13/153/95
  15. Login in a different sim, if that doesn't work either, contact support. The fact, that you can login with a different account, points to a server side problem.
  16. I have already AR'd the junk, do it too, it may speed up things a bit.
  17. Amethyst Jetaime wrote: "Want to really drive her crazy? Then ignore her completely and ban her from your land." Small sidestory: I'm on a german amateur radio forum and we've had problems with a deranged individual, that was peppering certain members with E-mails, private notes and forum threads, containing death threats, obsceneties (most of them have no equivalent in the english language) and other assorted niceties. First, the victims were trying to defend and retaliate, but that heated things up even more. However, when everyone simply started to ignore that guy, putting his e-mail addresses into the junk filter, the whole trouble died down very quickly. When a new victim made the error and posts a thread in the forum about that deranged individual, the mods very quickly remove the thread and instruct the victim. I got one hate mail from this guy, simply ignored it, never answered - guess what? Nothing came ever after. So, your advice is definitely right on the money - Mute, Block, Ban, Ignore - It works. The only point, at which authorities need to be called in, when that deranged individual appears at the RL-address of a victim. To prevent that for me, I never post any private information online, the only two entities, that have RL-info about me is LL's billing department and the L$-Exchange I use (as required by german law) and noone else here on SL.
  18. MTV? I wouldn't touch these guys with a ten feet barge pole. My advice: Run away from them. As fast as possible. Basic rule, especially for tv stations like MTV: They are not interested in proper reporting, they look for the seedy icky stuff, as that increases viewer quotes. If necessary, they will invent and script stories to pad out the show.
  19. Same here, Singularity was the fastest - Until LL released SL-Viewer V3.4.5 last week. At that point, performance was virtually identical. Firestorm 4.3.1 is considerably slower, as it is based on the previous LL-code and is similar to SL-Vierwer 3.4.4. Tried the latest Dolphin 3.4.13 and Niran's 2.0.9beta, both are very close to the SL-Vierwer 3.4.5. I have deinstalled Singularity, I don't need it anymore and I hate the V1-UI. System: CPU: Phenom II 945 Quadcore @ 3GHz, RAM: 8GB DDR3-1333, GPU: nVidia GTS 650. Graphics settings: Everything on, except Ambient Occlusion and Depth of field, all sliders max, except sky, Draw range 192m. I usually get 20 to 30fps in typical residential settings from the new viewers, Firestorm 4.3.1 delivers less than half of that.
  20. I'm inclined to say, that it also depends on the scripts in the vehicle. These guys tried to take on the SLRR and failed twice: Stuck and slowly rotating. My trusty old VRC 2010 engine (smoking in the background) had no problems at all at the same crossings. Even at relatively high speeds.
  21. 16kbps? Unless that is an typo, I'm not surprised. I did tests, using a router, which has an adjustable bandwidth limiter and SL worked down to 5MBit/s without any problem, 3MBit/s had slight delays in loading the textures. 0.016MBit/s is completely unusable, I can't think of waiting an hour for a scenery to load. By the way, I'm in Germany too and I have no problems, despite having sim ping times hovering between 190 to 280ms. I do get sim crossing problems on a regular basis, but it is always the same border - until the rolling restarts are through, which heals most of these. Thursday/Friday are usually the best times for long travels and Yavascript pod tours.
  22. Yes, Johnson Wax was revolutionary in its time and in some of its aspects, it is still today. Another favorite of mine is the Ennis House in LA, a well known movie location, e.g. Blade Runner, all movie scenes from Deckards home had been shot there. And again, Frank Lloyd Wright used new and revolutionary construction techniques in this building. Ok, back to SL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Plebeja/197/137/289 If you got an unusally formed parcel, don't despair, be creative. Putting up a prim up in the air is simple, putting out a real inventive design can make the weirdest parcel work: A home for a James Bond-type villain maybe?
  23. Yes, Area search is still there, it has been rewritten for the last version, with much improved performance. However, the viewer isn't as performant as the latest SL-Viewer. I do hope, that changes with the next version. @Phil Deakins: Do a right click into the navigation bar, then click on 'Show Coordinates'. The one below, 'Show Parcel Properties' should have a checkmark as well, it then shows the parcel title too.
