  1. Looks like you were attacked because of the iHud and because of it alone. And it seems, the sandbox owner had problems with iHud users multiple times. In other words: You just payed L$1000,-- to make yourself a target. My advice: Write off the L$1000,-- as a lesson learned and use the iHud only on your own property. If it is a rented property, check the FAQ/contract/covenant supplied by the rental box/landlord, if weapons of any kind are allowed. Especially, when the parcel is in a residential area. In every other location: Detach it.
  2. Breedables. And other scripted pets. Nothing sinister, just a script acting up. Lived next door to an Amaretto horse breeder, that had always 100 to 120 horses rezzed, things were flying out regularly in all directions.
  3. That's why Autoreturn should be active and set to a sensible timeframe, e.g. 30 minutes. Long enough to let manned and unmanned vehicles pass, short enough to get rid of griefer devices, before that turns into a problem. Btw. thanks for the feedback.
  4. When declining/discarding a notecard, the viewer(atleast Firestorm) shows the position of the notecard giver in the declined message, if that position moves with you, it is something you are wearing. Changing the outfit should kill it. Check attachments. If it doesn't and it is on your own land, simply delete/return it. Check Autoreturn setting in About Land. If it is not on your land, check the owner of the device and file an Abuse Report. Owner is normally given in the notecard message menu. Hope this helps.
  5. My former Landlord (MarlyTomsen) has two interesting plots available in the Junlong region: 1230prims for L$1300 (5376sqm): http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Junlong/153/181/50 (If the rentalbox is not on the property, look in the exchange office in front of the parcel, as I just terminated there (Had to downsize)). Behind it, there is already a shop, plus just over the eastern region border is an active sandbox and mall. And City17 at the northern border. The other one: 1076prims for L$1200 (4704sqm): http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Junlong/78/4/51 Next door is the mall in the Lars Continuum region plus other businesses around, so that area is generally busier. Landlord service is quick and reliable, group setup is done in less than 12 hours. during US day time mostly in less than 2 hours, I never had to wait longer. Hope this helps. UPDATE: Both parcels are rented out and currently not availabe (2. November 2012)
Danach sollte dein Zeug stehenbleiben. Ok, and for the rest here, the sermon again in English: To keep your rezzed stuff, you have to join the group, that owns the land under your skybox. If joining the group is not possible, because the group is a closed one, then the landlord has to send a group invite. After that, the relevant group has to be activated, right click on your avatar, select Groups, then mark your group and click Activate. Now erverything should stay rezzed. (Look into the 'Lost & Found'-Folder in the Inventory, the returned objects end up there) Normally, upon payment the landlord or the rentalbox should send a notecard with the necessary instructions to setup your skybox. Hoffe, das hilft weiter.

When it comes to griefer devices, there's no guarantee that the account listed as the Creator actually created the device. It's very possible that the "creator" account gave away a full perm object which was later reworked into a greifer device. That is always the possibility, the creators account also could be dead long ago, haven't checked at that time. ""Always AR the **owner** and not the creator."" Which I did, as that is the most sensible option.
  8. jwenting wrote:"" see things like that a lot exploring the mainland."" That's how I stumble upon stuff like that as well. I was in Nova Albion, when the red bubbles start popping up, easily traced down to West Haven. Some thoughts about these yellow particle spammers: They had a peculiar movement programmed in, obviously designed to push them ever so slightly into adjoining parcels, even into those, which had Object Entry set to Disallow. The position is a Float value with limited resolution, so rounding and calculation errors can be used to just push the center of the offending object just slightly over the parcel border before other blocks on that parcel are triggered. Resulting in rows of balls stuck at the parcel borders, just out of reach of the Autoreturn function on the Linden land. Since Owner and creator are different users, it begs the question, why does someone possibly pays money for a griefer device, just to make other peoples experience on SL miserable. I suggest the following land settings, from my own experience and what I have seen inworld: Banlines off. Banlines are one of the major reasons for littering, especially vehicles at strange places. Plus, banlines drag down value and quality of the surrounding land. Security devices either off or constrained to the buildings on the parcel. Trigger happy security orbs are another major reason for littering and grief. 'Build' set to 'Group' or owner, depending on if the land is rented or owned. Your land is not a public sandbox. 'Object Entry' to 'Everyone', prevents of separation of drivers and vehicles and allows automated vehicles to pass, preventing litter. 'Run Scripts' to 'Everyone', that way Autodie-Scripts will not be prevented from removing objects as designed. The YavaScript-Tourpods have such a suicide script inside, they die after 4 minutes when they get stuck. Autoreturn set to a sensible value, I have it set to 30 minutes on my parcel, so flyovers or riding through on a horse is still possible, but griefer devices like the yellow balls get nuked in an acceptable timeframe. And of course, visit your property from time to time, in case something bad ends up there.
  9. Wow, that was fast. The junk is gone. Thanks go out to the abuse department.
  10. Why? That's why: http://sl.jadeclaw.de/Snapshot_383.png Someone has dropped hundreds of these spam spouting yellow balls on West Haven. Those ending up on Linden land got nuked by Autoreturn, But, they move and quite a bunch got stuck on parcels with Autoreturn set to 0. Enough to make residents life a misery, as they also produce a deafening noise. So please, set Autoreturn to a sensible value, e.g 30 minutes, enough to not kick out passing vehicle users, but way shorter than the reaction time of the Abuse department. That also solves the problem with unoccupied vehicles getting stuck a strange places. Oh, and I have of course filed an AR regarding these particle spammers. With Autoreturn active throughout on all land, the Lindens would have much less work with stuff like that and could do more to improve the service.
  11. Perry Juran wrote: ""It would be so great if there was a way to survey undeveloped lots."" The problem here, there is no SL-system based 'For Rent'-Flag available. Plus, it isn't always clear from the description (atleast to a script), if a parcel is actually for rent. Ok, Tyches Bot could try to look for rental boxes, but not all parcels have them, a to me well known rental firm (violet blue circular logo) has them only on roughly one third of the properties available. Plus, they would show up identical, if the parcel is occupied. So any statistical data extracted from that would be quite unreliable. And then said landlord offers almost all rental properties for sale as well. Others don't do that. And then there is that dreaded skybox-problem: The land looks undeveloped, even marked for rent but the parcel/region is filled to the brim with skyboxes & skyboobs: http://sl.jadeclaw.de/Snapshot_380.png Bare land on the ground, but that's how it looks at 1500m above ground, skyboobs stacked with 200m distance between them.
  12. Sorry, but I don't see any use case for security orbs - Except making their makers rich. At best, these are snake oil, at worst they are disruptive to events and/or the local community. The 'About Land'-Dialog and the pie menu offer everything needed to get rid of griefers from ones own parcel. And Autoreturn kills any littering.I even have 'Object Entry' allowed for everyone, to guarantee that vehicle operators can cross my parcel unmolested. If an unoccupied vehicle ends up on my parcel, Autoreturn takes care of that. And I don't see, how a security orb can prevent that: http://www.jadeclaw.de/sl/Snapshot_382.png Autoreturn prevents these things from happening. (That plywood abomination covers 2 Sims, Gramela & Doesburg. The properties reachable with a mousepointer have Autoreturn disabled. An AR has been filed with LL.)
  13. These are the exchange rates on offer at EldexChange: EUR USD GBP CHF SEK PLN CZK 304 252 400 267 37 77 12 (CHF = Swiss Franc, SEK = Swedish Krona, PLN = Sloty, CZK = Czech Krone) A Big Mac is currently EUR 3,49 in Germany, that's L$1064,45 A bad quality Tabloid (notorious liars) costs about L$200,-- a good quality newspaper is about L$500,-- A drinkable beer (better tasting than american beer) is about L$ 200,-- + L$75,-- deposit.
  14. Ok Korey, act quickly: https://land.secondlife.com/en-US/lindenhomes/land-selection.php At this hour (8:15 AM PDT), One Meadowbrook, 4 Elderglen, 4 Tahoe and 3 Shareta Osumei type homes are on offer.
  15. Interesting... Physics: Prim I get: Objects: 1 Prims: 83 Download: 16.4 Physics: 115.3 Server: 43.5 Display: 7038 Selected: 115 Rezzed on Land: 420 including another house and stuff. Physics: Convex Hull I get: Objects: 1 Prims: 83 Download: 16.4 Physics: 17.9 Server: 43.5 Display: 7038 Selected: 44 Rezzed on Land: 349 including other stuff. And selected is shown as Land Impact. Calculating as hollow you say? I have created windows by stretching a cube into a wall, hollowing it out, making the frame by stretching a cube to a suitable size, hollowing it out as well, then putting a transparent stretched cube into that hole as glass panel. Another layer on the inside serves for the inner wallpaper. I rezzed one of these wall modules alone and Land Impact is 3 as convex hull instead of 6 as a prim collection. I learned something new today, thanks for the tip. And I learned something else: You can put a different texture on each side of a prim. So it's goodbye wallpaper layer. Guess, I have to learn a lot more...
  16. Something is fishy here: Tried myself at house design, result was ugly... But aesthetics aside, the house is made out of 83 parts, rezzed out on my Junlong property gives a land impact of 115. Right click, -> Edit. 1 objects selected land impact 115. Click on Unlink, it says 83 objects selected, land impact 86. Click on link again, land impact is back on 115. On the Cass-Sim, land impact was 83 everything unlinked, linked 172. Since I terminated the lease there, I can't go back to recheck. Why is that so? Shouldn't prims count 1:1, no matter if linked together or not?
  17. Rufferta wrote: "Do you think ban lines and security orbs lower the value of surrounding property and causing neighbors to leave," Nothing screams more "A**hole Central" than banlines, trigger happy security orbs and giant privacy screens. And that is a sure fire way to alienate neighbors and ruin property values. I see only one legitimate use for banlines: to keep out certain individuals one had trouble with. (Ban list in About Land). I have no problems with being booted out by an orb, if I accidentially teleport into a house or skybox, but being taken out of midair by a security orb -wether it be in a vehicle or on my own- constitutes harassment and I will file an AR in these cases. Always 100%. And as often as it is needed until either the offending security orb is shut off or the owner of the device is booted off of SL. Personally I don't use security orbs or banlines, the only 'security device' on my plot is a visitor counter and a 1 minute autoreturn on objects left behind by strangers. That's usually all, that is needed. I have no problem, if someone walks over my property to get to another one behind it. The lack of roads and walkways makes this compromise absolutely necessary. I would even lay down a walkway, 2, 3 prims and a free texture is all, that is needed for that.
  18. I suggest renting instead. Advantages: No premium membership needed -> 10 bucks per month saved. Flexibility -> If a location goes sour, you can move. I had to, thanks to a banline-idiot with his giant privacy screens. Flexibility -> Short minimum rental times, no long term commitment needed. Cheaper -> Shop around, good deals are available well below Linden Tier. I currently rent for L$1.06 per prim/wk. Everything below L$1.50 per prim/wk is good, of course, it depends on the location. Remember to read the rules and convenants before paying the rental box, some landlords don't allow breedables, others despise banlines and security orbs (Rightfully so, I must add).
  19. Sounds like a good success rate. I fell into quite a number of these potholes, I'll start reporting them as well. Thanks for the info.
  20. And it seems, the lagging problem has now caught the attention of the Support guys. Saw one of the Lindens hovering in the Galli-Sim a few minutes ago.
  21. Currently I'm on Heterocera, walking along the SLRR-Railway and most of the Sims I passed through are lagging heavily. e.g Mocis, Tenera. Aglia is especially bad, I'm just watching a train moving slower than a garden snail.
  22. I have rented a parcel on the Hubble-SIM and since a few days, I experience heavy Lag-Attacks, slapped a LagMeter on the house and sometimes it drops down to near zero, at the same time it is practically impossible to move. Sometimes up to 200 - 300 of these Lag-Attacks per day. Note, this SIM is low traffic, usually 2 to 6 avatars on it at the same time. According to GridSurvey, these 5 Sims are on the same server: Immaculate - surveyed 2012-09-20 Jemmica - surveyed 2012-09-20 Yacumama - surveyed 2012-09-20 Getaway Cove - surveyed 2011-12-31 (older data - Region not visited on last survey) Jeremis - surveyed 2011-12-28 (older data - Region not visited on last survey) Checked these Sims, no avatars on them during the Lag-Attacks. Another problem: An unusual high number of Sims -especially on the Sansara-Continent- that can't process sim-crossings in a timely manner, with the result in being kicked out of any automated vehicle, or the avatar keeps on walking forever until being stuck somewhere nowhere. Or the error message comes up. Completing one of the longer YavaScript-Tours is practically impossible. Also new: Sim simply stops responding. You can't move in any direction, only turning around one's axis is possible. Logout/Relogin usually fixes that problem. ( Happens with the default viewer as well as with Firestorm - Both are latest version.)
  23. I have asked the owner of these tetrahedrons a few questions: Hi xxxx, You have erected a number of these tetrahedrons next to multiple roads and railways. I have some questions about these things: 1. What is the purpose? 2. I inspected one, there are 4 scripts running, what are these scripts doing? 3. Do these 'Installations' collect personal information,e.g. movement profiles? 4. Has the color any useful meaning? 5. Do these tetrahedrons provide any benefitfor the general public? With best regards Jadeclaw. When I get a useful answer back, I'll post it here.
  24. There are hundreds of these 'potholes' across the grid. A strange one is here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Barcola/3/13/28 When you walk onto the bridge into the North Channel sim, you sink through the concrete immediately behind the sim border. However, it is impossible to go back the same way up, you have to wind your way out sideways from under the bridge. Fly up and land at the same point where you sunk in and the surface is now solid. Walk back onto the Barcola side - And down you go. Again, you have to wind your way out sideways.
