  1. Explore around inworld, check out the marketplace to see what kinda things you can have / make in Second Life. Try visiting the "newcomer friendly" destinations such as NCI, Firestorm Support region, etc, they usually have helpers that can help you with your questions directly. Join helping inworld groups such as NCI's group, builder's brewery, or groups of the places you like to visit. And if there are more things you need to know, you can always ask around in the forum
  2. Tbh if kids really want to know that sort of stuff they would've Googled it first before looking for them on Second Life, and it's more likely for them to came across adult materials on the internet in general than in SL anyway so.
  3. So yeah, thinking about uploading the full anthem to play inworld because I like it. Does anyone know if it's copyrighted?
  4. I invited a friend into SL and he decided to be a chair, you can be anything on SL, no worries about etiquette or anything as long as you comply with the ToS and (preferably) common decency
  5. Good day! Today we at SLFF launched our forum contribution incentive program by offering our forum members the chance to get a free tenancy in one of our VIP Residential Tower's Floors. It is not a skybox so you'd be able to see the mainland scenery. Our VIP Residential Tower is located in a sweet riverside mainland cliff just 200m from NCI, one of the most popular and crowded destinations in SL mainland. How does it work? Each time you make a post in our forum, you'll earn 5 forum credits, and for each thread you make, you earn 8 forum credits. You can use your forum credits to claim your free weekly tenancy in our shop page for 100 forum credits. After you've claimed your weekly tenancy, you can contact me (lucagrabacr Resident) inworld to get your free weekly tenancy initiated. You, and two other people of your choice if you want, will be invited to our VIP group for rez right and you can choose whichever floor you want as long as there's no existing tenant on that floor. The inworld tenancy timer will then be started with your and two other people of your choice's names listed as tenants. Please note that each tenant can only claim one floor, and that the shop item for our free tenancy will be restocked by the end of the tenancy week if the existing tenant don't have enough forum credit to extend their tenancy.Cheers!

  8. Hey guys, so I've been running this social media group of SL users from my country for several years now and we currently have a few hundred members. I know selling ad spots in SL fan forum is allowed (such as sluniverse, hence why I also sell ad spots on my SL fan forum) but what about social media groups? Just want to make sure it doesn't break any rule cheers.
  9. Alright, thanks a lot for the insights guys I guess they are okay then as long as they don't have sex poses in them (or sex poses while being naked, but they don't have sex poses in them anyway so)
  10. Just trying to make sure since I have a club in a moderate mainland region, just dance poles without sex poses in them, are they okay?
  11. After you accept their request you should be able to see them in your friends list, and in some viewers their floating name display should also change color to indicate that they are your friends
  12. You can probably run SL well with a budget 1050ti and 8gb of RAM, the bottleneck comes mostly from CPU when it comes to SL (a scene with a lot of avatars does tax the GPU, but also the CPU). The thing about having a GPU bottleneck is that you can just turn the graphics down and the lag will most likely go away. Of course your budget would allow you to afford much better components than the GPU and amount of RAM I mentioned above, but I'm just saying that you should probably invest most of it on the build's CPU if it's primarily for SL. I'm not sure what CPU you should get, but I've read in some forum post(s) that SL depends a lot on single core peformance and not so much on multi-core performance, of course you would want to get a quad-core or a dual-core with hyperthreading at least with that budget, but like before, I'm just saying that so you would get a better idea on what components you need to choose. Also, get SSD(s) and make sure your SL's installation / cache folder is located inside your SSD, it should make loading things up a lot faster (if you're not bottlenecked by a slow internet connection). Bear in mind even the most high-end components probably won't let you run SL at constant 60 or 30 FPS even, but they really do make a difference, especially if you choose wisely. My friend who has a high-end intel i5 (I forgot which series) and a more powerful GPU than mine generally runs SL at more FPS than me who has a budget X4 860K from AMD. But even then, SL is still pretty usable to me. (40-60 FPS in low-load zones, 10-20 FPS in heavy-load zones at high graphics settings). I'm thinking about upgrading my motherboard and CPU to a G4560 pretty soon (which would only cost like $120-$130 in total) and it would totally increase the performance of my PC, according to several raw power benchmarks and tests on games people did online on YouTube. So yeah, it doesn't take that much to get an acceptable SL experience, but the gain of performance per dollar generally declines the higher you go up the price range.
  13. Try rezzing the hoodie on the ground before adding the texture, some clothing mods can't be applied while you're wearing the clothes.
  14. Try detaching / unwearing everything one by one and see if one of them is causing the issue.
  15. It happens to me sometimes when my internet is lagging. Just keep trying, or make a copy of your HUD if possible then see if you can see inside that one.
  16. You can also block / derender the avatar if they are bothering you that much until you can find a way to prevent them from coming to your place.
  17. What's your PC spec? Also try lowering the graphics settings on your viewer. If it's still overheating, try lighter third party viewer such as Singularity.
  18. Might be your PSU dying and can't give enough voltage to your PC whenever it starts SL (which can be demanding for your PC's components) I suggest try running other resource-intensive programs such as a benchmark (I recommend Valley Benchmark 1.0) and see if it also restarts your PC. If it does, then it's most likely your PSU. You can test it out by trying out a different PSU from computer stores and run the benchmark / SL with the different PSU and see if it restarts the PC as well.
  19. Try lighter third party viewer such as Singularity, or simply lower the graphics options in preference menu. I assume it's your PC that's lagging and not your internet?
  20. I'm sure it won't be that hard or time-consuming for them considering it's possible already by tweaking the debug settings, and black dragon viewer even did it. I believe it would be a nice optional feature to have for those who prefer to use it. The lower FOV also makes things look more immersive / cinematic to some degree, so it might help SL "look better" to some new people who's trying SL for the first time, especially the kind of people I mentioned in my original post.
  21. Yeah I know, mentioned that in my post. The thing is most people won't even know it's there or it's possible, so I'm thinking it would be a good idea to have it on a push of a button.
  22. I just think it would be a good idea to have it as an option since I know that a lot of people are used to this kind of camera style from many games (I know SL is not a game, but that's not the point) that uses this camera style, and for good reasons (it makes things look more personal / cinematic?). I believe Black Dragon viewer has this option, and Firestorm / SL default viewer can be tweaked in the debug settings to have this kind of camera style (I made my Firestorm camera style similar to this but without the off-center characteristic), but it would be nice to have it as an option that we can choose simply by clicking a button. It might improve the user experience for people who are new to SL and prefer that camera style but don't know about 3rd party viewers or how to tweak the debug settings.
