  1. Either use one of the shields on the mp (which would only work if it's a rez zone, but no guarantee), move to a no script area, or just ignore the person doing it. If it's your land you can also eject / ban them.
  2. Do you mean your viewer stopped working altogether, or just the snapshot window that is stuck? Nevertheless, try alt tabbing and see if the viewer you're using is currently waiting for you to pick a folder in where you would store your snapshots, what I think you described happens when it does that.
  3. The Venus head generally fits the Kemono furry made by the same creator. There are also a lot of mods for the two of them to work together. The Avatar 2.0 body by the same creator also works to some extent, but I'm not sure if there are many, or any mod at all for the two of them to work together. While it's possible to mix match the Venus head with other mesh bodies or the default SL system body, I would suggest you get the Kemono furry body for convenience's sake. I have a lot of outfits mixing the Venus head and the Kemono body, and I also make and sell Kemono clothings, so you can trust me on this one

I was also agreeing with you on the WWG article. I wasn't defending the writer, I was clarifying what they did. Note that I said "however" before my comment on the MIT article, where I was disagreeing with you. Your reply seems to suggest that you thought I was disagreeing with you on all the articles, though. And that was my point - that any piece of writing might be seen as something different from what the writer intended, and even "errors" may be errors of the reader to see the meaning that the writer intended. Oh my, my apologies then. Yeah, I thought you disagreed, I'm really sorry about that. I do however still believe that these writers are generally neglectful in their writings which to my eyes is a sign of a lack of respect towards the subject of their writings, else they would've been more careful and thorough.

I especially hate the kind of stereotypical loner type loser image that people who are into computers, the internet, gaming, youtube, blogging, niche hobbies, etc STILL get, even in this age of facebook, twitter, instagram, as well as brands and companies trying to reach customers this way more and more. There is a weird documentary on Youtube covering Second Life, and the biased is that they cover the story of two people in world who meet and end up dating each other- except that the woman is married with a child, and throws all that away for a fantasy man. I mean, this is NOT a unique situation to Second Life, and it does nothing to highlight Second Life itself- just this drama with this couple which is facillitated via Second Life (it could easily have been facebook, World of Warcraft, Instagram, etc). As you've also highlighted, there's also the clickbait-title articles that try to imply that Second Life is in dire trouble, and that Sansar will be it's new rebirth or something. Again, this is a disrespect to the people who thoroughly enjoy and work at Second Life currently. I've seen this kind of biased reporting about Youtube as well. In particular, I've seen a lot of bad articles dismissing the success of PewdiePie, I've seen Jimmy Kimmel do a highly awkward and offensive youtube video featuring Markiplier and TheMissesMae- and try to market this as a factual insight as to how youtubers record a gaming video. The irony of this is that I just DO NOT understand why youtube(or maybe I should say Google) would support big name TV shows and personalities over their extremely popular home-grown youtubers. Should the Jimmy Kimmels, Jimmy Fallons, Ellens, James Cordons and Wendy Williams (among others) should decide ONLY to broadcast their shows on Tv (their ORIGINAL medium), then all the channels and personalities that youtube have shafted would be needed far more than ever. And I'm sure that for SO MANY people, they go onto the internet and onto Youtube to ESCAPE the same commercial big bucks, mediocre content that those same names do over and over- as people are more and more bored them. So I believe that, unfortunately, the internet is getting saturated with clickbait crap content from big bucks commercial sources that SHOULD know better, but think they have to do such low tactics to attract readers. A lot like the spamming, deceptive tactics of many other things these days to try and earn a buck. In the end, I just stop reading article-type websites, even if it means I feel out of the loop about a lot of current affairs. Yeah, it's really a shame indeed. I just wished that by nudging them a bit would clear a bit or two of misinformation that spits on SL

But when they are stating things that are clearly factually incorrect and present them as facts, it's just wrong, and the fact that their mistakes put SL in bad light only made it worse. These are not kids messing around in SL and then put it on YT or people posting articles on satire sites, these people are grown ups working for trusted news outlets who have the responsibility to make sure they don't do stupid things like these. This New York Times article said Second Life is a "defunct alternate-universe game from the early 2000s" This MIT Technology Review article implied that Sansar is a direct successor to Second Life. This WWG Article implied that Second Life is based in the UK And those are just some of the recent ones. We shouldn't let this kind of thing keep on happening. it's outrageous. I've publicly contacted the writers about their mistakes, but I suppose it would get their attention more if I'm not being the only one voicing my concern about this kind of recklessness. Your post is also an interesting example of the relationship of news outlets to readers. The line from the New York Times is wrong as far as the use of the words Second Life; it was referring to an archived region/build originally from Second Life. This is a factual error. The WWG article went astray because it was a digest of an article from another source, which was linked to and which was accurate. The digest mistook the location of the London City region organizers for the location of the Second Life infrastructure but the mistake wasn't in the original article. The MIT article, however, doesn't imply that Sansar is a "direct successor" to Second Life as far as I can see; it says it's by the same maker and is generally the same type of thing, which is true. The title of the article took some artistic license to use the sort of pun that's often irresistable to headline writers, but there was nothing inaccurate in the article. In this case you were the one who did the misinterpreting. And by posting this you made yourself a "news site article." The NYT article: Trust me when I say that I took some time to process the wording used by the writer, "an offline computer running an archived copy of Second Life: a defunct alternate-universe game from the early 2000s" the writer was clearly not referring to the archived copy, he was referring to Second Life and it's clear that it was what he meant. I don't think an NYT writer would make such a mistake in trying to convey what he meant through his writing. The WWG article: I know, I even watched the video from Kotaku. Making such mistake because they are only "reblogging" the article isn't an excuse. The MIT article: The title said, "Second Life Is Back for a Third Life, This Time in Virtual Reality", it is obvious that she meant to imply that Sansar is SL's successor. Artistic freedom and whatnot, there's a fine line between clickbait headline and misleading headline, this was obviously the latter. And lastly I apologize if I came out as being overzealous, but I believe that my irritation is justified. SL is a brand and service that I, and I believe many other people hold dearly for one reason or another. Imagine if a news article mistake Apple as being a company that's "based in China", or that Yahoo is a "defunct web and email services from some yesteryear", what fan wouldn't be outraged.
  7. I'll have to agree. There's so many empty old sims listed in the "what's hot" category for some reason. I teleported to one of those places and met a new user who most likely teleported there from the destination guide just like I did. I befriended them ever since, which is a good outcome from the unfortunate wonkiness of the destination guide but I still hope they would make it better

  9. I'm a premium member, and one of the premium member destinations is this "Premium Perk - Voice Morphing" place where I can check out the voice morphing packs available for SL. So I went there and clicked on the voice packs objects standing there, and I'm automatically "Subscribed" to the voice packs? I know it's called "Premium Perk" so I was sure that they are free for premium members, but then I realized the expiration date changed after I clicked on one of them again, which I did because I thought after I "Subscribed" it will show me more info about it much like some inworld objects do (rent boxes, etc) There was no confirmation window for payment or anything and I haven't been charged any amount of money or linden, but WILL I get charged for these? Because I didn't even mean to subscribe to any of them.
  10. Have you tried relogging? If that doesn't work, try a different viewer with a different cache directory location / change the directory location manually to make it different from your previous one and see if the issue persist there, if it doesn't then there's probably something wrong with your current viewer's cache / userdata and you should clear them. I never had your issue but clearing cache / userdata did work for me sometimes to resolve weird problems like this.
  11. So I'm about to get premium membership, and I'd like to pay for it using the amount of $ balance I already have on my account, would they still charge me anything on my PP/CC/Skrill during checkout if I have enough balance? (because they require me to choose one of the payment options), thanks.
  12. I own a business but I do have some work experience on SL I used to DJ for clubs and the average payment is 250L or $1 /hour. For CS on SL, I'd say 250L / $1 an hour would be reasonable, but that really depends on the workload and how reputable the company you're working for is. Perhaps you should check out and estimate how thriving their company is and make your decision from that.
  13. One of my listings just got unlisted for "inflating listing prices". I have items in my inworld store 5L cheaper than they are on the MP, is that not allowed?
  14. Not every sim and sim owner is like what you described, but then again it's their sim so they can do whatever they want. About build quality - SL has been running for more than 13 years, so there are literally millions of items with varying degrees of quality throughout SL. Trust me, there are great looking things and sims all around, but great looking things are expensive, and great looking sims are hard to build, so most of the time you'll see aethestically out of place things and sims, but that doesn't mean there aren't great looking things and sims out there. If there are a couple of sims which community and cultures don't fit you, just find other sims that do, SL doesn't have a single core community or cult, it's rather made out of many of them.
  15. I'd suggest bringing your pc to a computer shop which has spare cpu / graphics card for you to try on and see how it performs inworld, it might sound tedious but it's better than gambling on whether or not upgrading either would be better than the other. SL is really confusing to get right in this regard, sometimes I get low framerate while both my graphics card and cpu aren't even being completely used by SL, sometimes they do, but whether or not they are hardly determines framerate most of the time.
  16. You know they always do these things! :P just finished making this video, cheers!
  17. Yeah, I'm doing just that right now. I guess I can borrow the money now, sell my Lindens on LindeX after I can use Skrill for SL, then give the money back to my friend after I sold my Lindens on Lindex. A bit more complicated but at least it's not again the rules Thanks again for the feedbacks and clarification, I was really confused on how to deal with this :matte-motes-sour:
  18. So I can't I use an unverified Skrill account to withdraw my SL fund (given that I passed the initial $1 charge)? Because Skrill said I can use my unverified Skrill account normally until I reach a €2,500 transaction treshold, at which point they will require me to verify my identity using certain goverment-issued documents.
  19. Ah, alright. Thanks for the clarification. Now I need to wait for Skrill's 5 days waiting period for adding fund via bank transfer > .> I don't really get why LL requires us to have $1 in our Skrill account before we can start using it, but oh well.
  20. The reason I asked this is because I'm thinking about getting the initial $1 Skrill fund from other user who use Skrill, which LL requires me to have before I can use Skrill as my payment method and start using it on LindeX. Is it not against any rule? Just being cautious.
  21. If you mean the empty areas between non-mainland regions, then it simply won't happen because having those place as active sims would take a lot of server resources. Except LL engineered a way to create a "Super lightweight sims that barely use any server resource" for empty areas.
  22. I just checked today and they updated them, they look awesome! Great job, you guys at LL
  23. In case you can't find water vehicles with editable hover height, I suggest buying boat / jetski demos and see if they work on land / prim surfaces. And if your primwater is not solid, add an invisible prim over it for the vehicles to surf on. I know this would make the water undiveable, but that's one way to do it.
  24. Just to add to the other responses in case it isn't clear yet, you must upload your texture(s) separately after you mapped / made them on Blender, then apply the texturep(s) to your textureless mesh model using the inworld edit tool. If you have multiple materials for the textures on your model in Blender, you might need to use the "Select face" function in the inworld editing tool to apply them where they are mapped.
