  1. and I get sick of people stating that LL "should do something" because of their their choice of old viewers that lack such functionality not allowing them to do something themselves. I do agree that a cleanup campaign would be nice, but one person's junk is another person's treasure. Were I in charge of that campaign e.g. I'd include every gambling den, privacy screen, adboard, etc. etc. in the cleanup. I doubt some people would like that...
  2. got a custom skin made by the owner of {T&T} designs ( http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Virtual%20Dream/33/248/23 ) (Timida Trejo). Not sure how often she does it, but she did a great job modding one of her existing offerings to another skintone.
  3. I love {T&T} and DrLife mostly, Al Vulo aren't bad overall, but their makeup options are a bit over the top for my taste. Redgrave are good also, but some of their skins have a nasty orange yellow tone to them.

They ADVISE to use PP, mostly because the cost of small (especially international) bank transfers and credit card chargebacks is high.
  5. there's a lot of gambling going on, masquerading as "game of skill" or other euphemisms.
  6. go to https://secondlife.com/my/account/land.php?lang=en-US to see all the mainland (including Linden Homes) that you own.

Tex Monday wrote: Hello everyone This may seem an odd question, but I was wondering....with all the talk on the forums about what's wrong with SL, does LL have any clue what's going on and move over, in the second place, do they care? Is the Lab actually doing anything to combat the issues that we're having inworld? Just seems to be that they should be all over this stuff. Thanks..... It's the same with every single online environment/game/community I've ever been a part of. A small, but highly vocal group of people thrives on endlessly complaining about everything and anything, even making up perceived flaws and slights and pulling extremely minor problems that do happen WAY out of proportion (in one gaming community I was a part of, this went so far as there being several thousand complaints in the support forum about a model of an RL aircraft having the canopy roof sloped 0.01 degrees different from the slope in the real aircraft, this went on for months, that's how silly/idiotic/annoying these people get). A far larger group of herd animals will then come in and voice their outrage at "things not being done to fix it". Problem with that is, most often there's nothing actually wrong that can be fixed, if there is the effort to do so far outweighs the benefits, or the "problem" was created on request/demand from the very same people now complaining about it. It's of the same magnitude as the constant flood of threads about "SL being dead" and "SL will die unless something is done NOW". This too is a constant in any online community, and believing those SL would have shut down in pre-beta over a decade ago. Best you can do is try to ignore them, and try to steer newcomers away from them. They DO however have a negative effect, in that potential newcomers who're not part of the community yet see the constant flood of negativity and start to think there's something fundamentally wrong.

Some of the later intel cards like 3000 or 4000 might be able to run it at bare minimum settings but then your SL will look about as good as super mario 64. Any graphics chip made after 2007-ish should work. and any CPU after around the same time should be enough to get acceptable performance as well running the latest mesh enabled viewers. You might not be able to run at maximum settings, but something in between medium and high is possible with maybe some tweaking like turning off shadows and reducing particles and draw distance.
  9. I'm running SL (latest Firestorm) just fine on a 4 year old laptop (coming on 5) that was about $600 back then. You don't need a multi thousand dollar megapowerful computer.
  10. see a lot of guys with Tellac skins. Personally I love T&T skins, but as a woman I've not tried the male skins they also sell, I just assume they're as good. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Virtual%20Dream/33/248/23 don't have a slurl for Tellac, I'm sorry.
  11. if the Chung enterprise were to fold tomorrow, there'd be a major scramble to get new land by thousands of renters. Someone else (or several most likely) would step up and grow big(ger) as a result. Maybe LL would for a while see a lower revenue from tier on private regions as people buy mainland to cover the transition period, but that'd mean higher income from mainland tier to compensate. In the end, I doubt there'd be much of a difference in LL income (unless Chung Enterprises now hold a large number of idle regions in reserve and the other companies would hold fewer combined).
  12. idiot script nazis at work again... Probably have their sim so badly built it's lagging to bits even without visitors so they harass the visitors for having some scripts running. Well kids, I can't get my script count below about 70 because of my rlv locked attachments I can't (and wouldn't if I could) remove, so you've lost my business and that of every other person who's in a D/s relation and wearing a scripted collar and likely some other things. We'll go to stores that have more sense.
  13. if people weren't such cheapskates and actually gave some money back for the time they spent in SL (yes you, all the "no payment info, no premium" people) LL'd make enough money they wouldn't need to resort to advertising. They'd also be able to lower tier cost.

Find a friends place to hang out at an keep reporting, daily if necessary. If you like your home, don't give in. well said, giving up and quitting just gives them vindication. And if they're paid by competitors to SL to do this (which I've experienced in the past when doing customer support for a game company) and people quit SL over this you're just showing that paying to get griefing attacks launched is an effective way to hurt a competitor.
  15. How ARs are handled depends heavily on which support critter gets to handle them. Some of them seem to just discard every single one of them, others take them quite seriously, others again act only if the reporter is the owner of the land in question, etc. etc. Overall, I've had pretty good luck, but sometimes it takes several attempts (and calling live chat before sending an AR can help as well) before things happen.
  16. goonsquad are griefing hundreds of regions seemingly at random, if everyone abandoned their land simply because of some idiot griefers there'd be no sim left on the grid (and the griefers will have won). best thing to do with griefers is AR them, block them, and forget about them. Do NOT give them publicity beyond telling your friends to block them as well, and soon they'll find there's nobody left who even notices their "work".
  17. well said. And if you've good neighbours and are a decent person yourself, often something can be worked out (though sometimes the land owner hasn't been on in ages but for whatever reason does keep paying tier, so LL doesn't list him as inactive).
  18. you assume these griefers own land, they don't. They rez on public land and push their prims onto other parcels. Only way to stop that is to make the entire grid no-rez zones, close every parcel except to the owners and invited friends, and turn off object entry on every parcel. This would instantly mean the end to vehicles, travel, socialising, and everything else the inhabitants of the grid like to do. Far better to just block the griefers in your viewer, turn on spam protection in your viewer, and AR them whenever you find anything they left behind, plus notify the parcel owners. YOU are trying to apeace the griefers by giving in to them, by shutting down the grid. YOU are part of the problem because of that because you encourage them!

Disable camera constraints will let you cam through them as if they were like 0.010 meter thick. yes, but most people don't know that. Most people who cam into a place do so out of curiosity and maybe get an idea for furnishing their own place, it's casual. If there's more effort involved, they won't do it. If you really want to have nobody cam into your place, rent an entire sim or homested, put everything at ground level, place solid prims on top of it to the max altitude you can build, and then set land access to restricted to you only and don't ever invite anyone else there. And for good measure add a security orb as well set to maximum range and autoban with no warning. Of course you make no picks of the place in your profile, don't give anyone a landmark, and make sure it's not listed in search results. That way only people randomly hopping sims will even have a fraction of a second to see your rubbish before they're kicked out.

If not this idea then something need to be done to protect people from such ways as not to allow mulitply av's for this reson, I understand many have other reasons which is fine for havin 2nd av's but for dilberate intention sof greif then something should be done whats your thoughts Epidemic? Do you have any relevant data that says their is an increase of creating new avatars for harrasement and stalking? I don't think so, its just your personal drama which makes you feel its a giant new increasing problem. Simply don't surround yourself with weirdos. Also IPs aren't really helpful. Mine changes itself from time to time...this would at least why there are error messages that indicate an IP ban, while there is no real ban for the specific account. (after a while anyone with that problem can logg in normaly). sims I mod have seen a marked increase in nasty characters over the last few months, but most aren't alts but rather teen and preteen kids who're stupid enough to even admit as such in chat or voice, right before being banned and ARs filed against them. Don't know for certain what's causing this, my guess is the inclusion of SL in Steam has a lot to do with it. The start of the increase pretty much coincided with that. As to practices used by them, nothing new or interesting. Just the same old particle poofers, blaring media prims, pissing all over the place (literally), harassing people in chat, pushers/cagers, and the very occasional attempt to crash a sim.
  21. Ansariel Hiller wrote: This topic has been discussed endlessly here on these Forums and on other SL-related forums as well. And yet there's always somebody around he comes up with the same old ideas of how to stop griefing, like everyone needs payment info on file and so on. Do you really think there is anything new to add to the same old story? of course demanding payment info won't work, banning all alts won't work, etc. etc. Just look at places like World of Warcraft, Battlenet (Diablo series), every other multiplayer game in existence. Griefers exist there in droves. Mostly griefers are people who either have no life and take pleasure in making others miserable (as well) want to quit but don't have the guts to press that "delete account" button idiots who really have no clue that what they're doing is considered harassment by others kids (of any age) with an overinflated sense of ego who think the world revolves around them and whatever they think is fun is all that should matter. idiots who don't even realise those other avatars are human beings In many cases a griefer will fit into more than one of those categories. And yes, a lot of them are more than willing to pay to grief.

Now does that still stop the “Bloodlines “ player from asking you ? YES it does as it will tell them they cant ask ...BUT ….I have friends real close to me that they don't get the pop up but instead they get a IM like this. “ take off that necklace so I can bite you “ I agree with you about my SL avatar being an extension of myself; I actually prefer the terms online/offline as opposed to SL/RL because for me all life is "real." That said, I too detest this whole Bloodlines marketing pyramid because that is exactly what it is. There have been people who rp vampires in SL who have posted in the forums that they also abhor the Bloodlines "game" - the point most often made that "many/most" of the Bloodline group don't even rp well, they just run around spamming for bites. It is unfortunate, to say the least, that the average new person to SL first finds out about Bloodlines after they've been spammed and/or unwittingly "bitten." There are so many things that have similar drop down boxes that if one receives several at a time and just starts clicking to get them off the screen, an unwary person can easily be "bitten" without realizing it. I agree that it would be a great idea if LL included a garlic necklace in an avatar's beginning inventory, but I don't see that ever happening. Iirc, it was pressure from the SL community that caused the creator of Bloodlines to create the necklace in the first place. I've had people come to me in tears, asking how they can "cure" vampire bites when they have no money. They're convinced (and apparently are told by vampires) that just ignoring the whole darn thing isn't enough, that somehow their account is flagged on the LL servers as a vampire and they must now either buy expensive "vampire cures" or cancel their account and start from scratch. I've several friends with bloodlines ties who help me check out those stories, and most of those people were never bitten at all. So there's apparently spampires running around selling fake "vampire cures" (or even selling stuff for bloodlines) by scamming random people with false stories that they're "registered vampires".
  23. same here. Someone autosubscribes me to a spamlist, he's blacklisted from any future business.
  24. what helps but doesn't prevent it, is making walls that are a meter or more thick. Most people will give up trying to cam through those.

Might even get one from a pair of shoes you already have and try that, shouldn't need much modification to work for other shoes.
