Of course a lot of people (especially younger ones) think that everything is free and anyone who wants money for services rendered is just greedy and making 100% profit, but that's simply not the case. Then again, a lot of those kids never had to pay a dime for anything in their life, everything being provided by that big magic thing called Daddy, Mommy, or the State and never wondering where the goodies all come from. Your argument would have been much less condescending if you had stopped at Daddy and Mommy.. There are plenty of people that can't find work and have to live scrape by on the pittance the state gives out. you clearly don't understand what I'm saying, which is that a lot of people EXPECT to get everything for free, even DEMAND it as "a right" to get everything for free.

Give you an idea if he just purchased it or had it for a while. That number isn't entirely reliable though. I've seen it be set days in the past on land that has been in the hands of the owner for years.

Thank you With all the proxies out there, and MAC Spoofing avalable on the internet and illegal viewers there is no limit on the accounts you can create its a problem and I have asked LL many times in the past to please add protection for sim owners in Second Life from griefers removing the ID verification from age verify and adult sims ruined this. 1. Registration doesn't even require a valid email anything @sharklasers.com works so you can do aaaaaaa@sharklasers.com and you don't even have to verify the account just use a proxy. I even had a griefer register an account under one of my emails before using an API when they were avalable with the attempt to try to get my main banned from SL because they knew my email address and it was never verified. anything@anything.com pretty much works too. LL can't and isn't going to allow you to grief your visitors by banning them on sight simply because someone else logged in using the same ip address before. There's simply no way for them to know which accounts are held by the same unique person, period. The only way they could get to know that is if you needed to be physically present at LL offices in order to create accounts, which is of course entirely unfeasible.

A friend of mine got ARd and ended up with an official warning that she'd be banned and her land confiscated if she did not stop child avatars having sexual encounters on her adult sims, where she already had rules in place against just that but they were sneaking in when the moderators were not looking. Investigation by LL found that the ARs came from the same IP address as the logins of the child avatars in the provided screenshots (yay for serverlogs) and the whole thing was dropped, but it can happen, as another example shows. Another person I know actually got suspended when someone rezzed an A rated object (I believe some pr0n photos) on the roof of her Linden Home, made screenshots, and filed an AR against her. Again, she was unblocked when the nature of the events was discovered, but it took several weeks. "Investigation by LL found that the ARs came from the same IP address as the logins of the child avatars in the provided screenshots (yay for serverlogs) and the whole thing was dropped, but it can happen, as another example shows." Knowing Linden Lab's penchant for not revealing the details of the outcome of their investigations, this smells a little fishy to me. Just saying. Depends on the persons involved no doubt. If you get a personal call from them they're more likely to be open to you no doubt. They won't have said WHO was responsible, but what happened.
  5. they don't "root through your bank account at will", they place a charge on your credit card or paypal account the same way any other online retailer would. And they're a lot more trustworthy than a lot of online retailers that people seem to trust implicitly.

    Sculps

A comparable way to do that in mesh is to have several mesh surfaces close to each other, and in a script set the transparencies and textures of those surfaces on the fly.
  7. 1) if you click "copy and wear" it will wear the new items and only remove old ones at the same attachment points as the new ones (if that). Simply detach the items you no longer want to wear manually. 2) sometimes inventory server synch issues with your viewer can cause your worn items to get out of synch between your inventory, your current outfit, what you see yourself wearing, and/or what others see you wearing. Relogging usually fixes that.

  9. in fact that has not been needed for at least a year (I've been a premium member for that long and never had to have any USD balance)...
  10. in fact, AR him for it, and for his breaking the TOS by claiming he can break the TOS (which could fall under impersonating a Linden, they're the only people who have that right).

  12. or the autoban and eject home with no warning orbs with simwide coverage when there's only a tiny hut in the center, 2000m up, and the rest of the sim is sitting squat in the middle of a major waterway...
  13. you can block a lot of stuff from showing on the web profiles, but not sure how that affects display of that information using the in-viewer browser.

Sewing someone's leg back on after you have accidentally cut it off does not significantly mitigate the original incompetence. When are LL and Lithium going to implement an effective automated boolean filter which automatically cuts out content-free dross. Awe . . . although I suppose it would eliminate 90% of the "real" postings too! that's mean all your posts get deleted. Do you really want that?
  15. if it has income sharing (most club jars do) they need that perm to send x% from your account to the other person after you've been paid by the person sending the tip.
  16. - avatar fails to load happens sometimes, try changing to another avatar for a bit, tends to force things to pop into view (change your clothes, skin, shape, and attachments, etc.) - home not available when you start, you have no home so the system can't take you home. Set your viewer to log in at last location instead. Mind to be able to set a location as your home, the owner of that location must allow you to do so. - keep running into restricted places happens. Far too many people don't want visitors for whatever reason (and with the griefer attacks, more use it as a temporary measure to keep those out). In addition, if you've set your region access level in your viewer to G only, you can't enter most of the grid as the majority is M or A. That's in the general tab of the preferences window. - controls don't work never had that happen. Maybe you're remapped controls in your viewer and change/reinstall? You will need to maybe set them up again to that different setting If you're premium, you can set your home position in your Linden Home, but it's not automatic. You will have to go there, then in your viewer's "world" menu select "set home to here". From then on you can always get back there using the home button, or ctrl-shift-h. - can't get "gift" what gift? You will get L$300 a week automatically added to your account, usually on tuesdays. The extra L$1000 comes also automatically one time after you've been premium for 45 days straight. In addition premium members get the occasional free item from LL, currently that is an aircraft. Can be collected from dispensers in some of the premium only areas, right now of course the premium only airports. - everything seems buggy and frustrating. It's not. It's just different from what you're used to. Find your way to places like Calledon University or NCI and take some lessons there, SL takes getting used to. Or ask in most any newbie friendly place in the destination guide. They're often filled with nice people who go out of their way to help newcomers, if you let them and don't go around fuming about how bad everything is (that just annoys the hell out of us).
  17. or whereever "here" is is on a US government blacklist and nobody is allowed to deal with you.
  18. Alicia Sautereau wrote: They killed the land market with the continents spam and then the 3 continents of linden homes to finish it off... Only reason to live on an estate is not being at the mercy of LL and some well thought out layouts, ofcourse, most are still a "free for all" like the mainland thankfully the land flippers killed the market by making mainland unaffordable for the average resident, to which LL replied by increasing the size of the land and offering every premium account holder a free home. Now the land market sees more realistic prices (for the most part, there's still some flipping land at inflated prices, especially on Zindra). Of course on top of this are unscrupulous land flippers who make residents "an offer too good to refuse" to sell their land at way below market prices, and when the offer is refused the land owner gets hit by griefers until he abandons his property or takes the flipper up on the offer anyway (I have heard this time and again from people who have no reason to twist the truth about their experience).
  19. Depending on the billing date for the last month you are due to pay tier, you might get charged one month after your premium account expires. e.g. if the next tier billing date is 15 July, and your premium account ends on 16 June, you will get billed at 15 July. If you again get billed in August and have no land or group donations left (which you shouldn't), contact billing as there is probably something wrong. To ensure it ends, you might need to set your tier level to 0 in your land holdings page, but this should not be the level you're billed at, only the level you can buy (when premium) without getting a warning.
  20. only "racism" I've encountered wearing a dark skin sometimes (or on my alt who wears one all the time) was a single CARP style sim where I was told I couldn't roleplay there because CARP style roleplay involving negroid female captives is supposedly racist, so to avoid being called racist they had to ask me to leave. And in the twisted way "racism" is used as a stopword to call anything that isn't black (or whatever non-white skin) supremacist they even had a point... Not a point I at all agree with, but there's so many jerks around trying to get sims closed and accounts banned by filing idiotic ARs for non-issues that it's often better to be safe than sorry ("child avatars" is another such issue).

Amethyst Jetaime wrote: I think we all pretty much know the answers to the first five questions, the more interesting story would be to get copybotters to talk. a smart copybotter won't talk as he know he'll get kicked off the grid so fast he can't even say bye to his copybotted items... And the stupid copybotters had that happen to them long ago...
  22. way too many kids come here thinking everything on the internet is free, that the companies running things have no expenses, that every cent you pay them is pure profit...
  23. and I've seen people advertise "full sim for rent" but once you get there you get a 10x20m skybox with a 50 prim allowance.
  24. yup, sounds like you got the profile of the owner of a chat repeater or other talking prim.
  25. premium people pay for the extra suport options. That's a prime reason to have a premium account. Again you're complaining that you're not getting for free what others spent time/effort/money to get. Be happy you have an option to leech of the money spent by others at all, many other online communities don't give you that option and require paid membership to access them at all (maybe after a trial period).
