  1. In Bellisseria, you can. Just pop in to the hub, book a date at your chosen community centre and have at it.
  2. I do both DJing and hosting at the same venue. As a host, my role is: 1) Prepare and post notices for the upcoming event, both in advance and right before the event. It just so happens that this also involves creating an artistic poster for the advance notice, but that's just an "us" thing and doesn't apply to most clubs. 2) Build a unique set for themed events. For example, an undersea temple for the mer party we had last weekend. Again, that's not typical of most clubs, though I do know of one other that does this at last on a semi regular basis. 3) Greet guests when they arrive. That's just basic level good maners. 4) Help to keep conversation flowing. This is the most important part of a host's role, IMO. A host that doesn't do this is not hosting. 5) Taking snapshots of the event which are combined into a collage distributed to group members as a "souvenir" after the event. Again, that's just an "us" thing. I don't make reminders for guests to tip either myself or the DJ (a tip to me counts as a tip to the venue too, because I own and manage it). Honstly, I don't remember the last time I'e even needed to. We have guests who tip generously whether I remind them or not. We have guests who can't afford to tip whether I remind them or not. We have a guest who tips L$10 every week, because that's all she can spare. Asking for tips or not asking really makes no difference to the amount of tips received. In fact, asking probably REDUCES the tips, because many guests resent it.
  3. For me it mostly depends on what style of houseboat I'm wanting to try, and what the local landscaping and parcel arrangement looks like. On a square plot, the end window faces sideways, usually towards one of your neighbours. Sometimes, depending on whether you're at the end of a row or not, half of the styles will work and the other half won't. Usually though, none of them work well. The advantage of a rectangular parcel is that the big window will always face the right way, regardless of which boat model you choose. My current houseboat parcel is square and I'm using the Doc Holliday - it does have a big window at the end like the older styles, but on this particular parcel I'm at the end of a row and the big window overlooks some nice landscaping rather than a neighbour, so I'm happy with that. The Windlass, Knot Shore and Barnacle would also work well here Other boats orient the opposite way round; the Wallower, Evening Star, Shore Thing or Jolly Roger, the big window faces my neighbour. So if I ever have a yearning to try one of those styles, I'd abandon the parcel and try for another.
  4. That nicely explains the difference between "group chat/IM" and "group notice", the distinction of which I already understood. I was already aware that the text of a group notice appears in the group chat/IM window for logged-in users. What I still don't understand is the difference between "group chat" and "group IM". As far as I can see, they are the exact same thing. A message appears in the chat window, the terms "chat" and "IM" appear to be synonymous, unless there's something else I'm missng. I can't find any distinction between the two in Firestorm.
  5. The worst one I saw was years ago, when someone crashed a region with some kind of megaprim attachment. A few people there ended up with overheated graphics cards as a result, and attacks like that are the reason Firestorm has a feature to block them.
  6. I am confused. What is the difference between group chat and group IM? Is this a distinction that appears in the SL viewer but not in Firestorm? Because in Firestorm, the group chat and group IM appear to be the exact same thing.
  7. I've tried it both ways and honestly? I didn't notice any difference. Except that if I include it, and I get unwanted sexual attention, I can say "psst, you may want to read my profile before taking this conversation any further". It's a convenient way of filtering out the sort of people I probably wouldn't want to talk to anyway.
  8. Forgot to add that also the Cutoff needs to be set to 1 or more. Though you've founfd a solution, but it still might be useful for other things (like fixing alpha glitches on plants and anything else, if it's mod).
  9. Before I switched to a female body, I had one distinct look, even my outfit rarely changed (except upgrades to quality). These days, I change my outfit regularly. I don't know what to call my "style" - mostly I tend to wear beach style outfits - shorts and little tanktops or bikini tops. My body is fairly consistent - tall, red hair (usually long), subtly-pointed elf-ears, freckles, greenish-grey eyes, missing an arm. I rarely wear makeup and I usualy have a bit of stubble on my face.
  10. I haven't tested it, but when you put the transparent texture on, did you check it was set to Alpha Masked? If it's set to None, there is no transpareency even with a transparent texture. Alpha Blended works too but is subject to alpha glitching in some situations.
  11. The skinny arms is definitey not limited to Senra ; belleza Gen X has the same problem. Anyway, here's my effort with Jamie; on the left with all Senra stuff, on the right I switched out for my own skin, makeup and hair but kept the Jamie body and head. Using the Senra shape 2 with minimal adjustment. I really don't like the head. The eyebrows are too high even at their lowest. The eyes are weird; even with inner eye corners at zero it still looks like its not low enough (kinda the opposite of Catwa, which is the head my skin is made for, so I just had to add eye makeup to cover that mess). I love the sporty clothes though. I wish they would fit one of my other bodies.
  12. Lindal, we'll miss you on the forum and I'm sure you'll be very much missed in Caledon Oxbridge too. But I wish you the best and hope your health improves with a bit of sunshine and exercise. Please take good care of yourself.
  13. Those older skins look way better than the new Senra skins.
  14. This is likely where the bottleneck is. Its just mesh attachments that are failing to load completely on a low-bandwidth network. Give it time and they should eventually render. I usually see this sort of thing on (a) avatars wearing Legacy body and (b) mesh sim-surrounds/mountains, because they are just so darn big. Those spiky triangles will cut right across the entire region.

    LaraX?

The only issue I see here is that many creators don't have the official maitreya dev kit, they are relying on the bootleg. They won't be able to switch, or may have to jump through a lot of extra hoops because they're currently not authorised creators. Will Maitreya welcome them in, or bar them because they've been using an unauthorised bootleg?

    LaraX?

Right. At this point, the only people who have not bought Maitreya are those who don't want it and have invested in different bodies, or have a budget that precludes buying any mesh body in that price range. Logically, a body-maker who wishes to stay in business must diversify, and sell other products besides the body itself. It would make sense that they should also sell a wide range of clothing (with regular new releases) for their body, at a competitive price. Slink did shoes, so does N-Core (Kalhene), Belleza does skins. Maitreya did a handful of clothes in the beginning but never really added to the collection, except when they released new chest mods. Offering a cheapie/freebie is another option and can be a gateway into the brand. Give it a year or so after the launch of Lara X, Maitreya should release 5.3 as a freebie or very low priced (lower than the Lucybody).

    LaraX?

I think this can go one of two ways. 1) Content creators will pick up Lara X in addition to or instead of 5.3, and it will gradually (over a couple of years) replace 5.3 as the leading non-curvy body, with Legacy remaining in 2nd place. 2) Content creators will stick with 5.3 only, or drop Maitreya altogether, resulting in a big gap in the market for a quality non-curvy body. This gap will initially be filled by Legacy, Belleza Gen X and Inithium Khara, but we'll likely see a few newcomers, of which only one will survive. Just as we've seen with the flood of curvy bodies over the past 2-3 years, only one (Reborn) has been ultimately successful. Brace yourselves for the same happenning with non-curvy bodies. I don't think Legacy will be the winner in this scenario. Their bodies are too expensive. The winner will likely be one that we haven't seen yet - my best bets would be new launches from either eBody or Kalhene. Maitreya has been very clever, giving this body as a free update to existing customers. If Belleza had done the same with their Gen-X I think they would already be the market leader for non-curvy bodies right now.
  18. They release new ones around holidays, so the next batch will probably be a couple of weeks before Halloween.
  19. Two things I am disappointed about - 1) The dev kit is by application only (and presumably requires applicants to be existing content creators). The dev kit should have been in the Library along with the bodies. A dev kit that's only available to existing creators does nothing to help newbies jump in to learning. 2) Everything except the shapes is no-mod. GAH!! EVERYTHING IS NO MOD!!! Again, useless for anyone wanting to explore creation. It should all have been mod, with texture maps included. Your world, Your Imaginaiton.
  20. Clothes first - the "Classic" Legacy body is their old one. It used to be called TMP "an abbreviation of 'The Mesh Project') so if you search the Marketplace for clothing in the TMP size, those will fit. However - they are old, a lot of stuff has been discontinued, removed from sale and no-one makes new stuff for this body any more. If you want more clothing, or newer clothing, you will have to purchase a newer body that already has good clothing support. Legacy (the new one), or Belleza Jake are pretty much your only viable options for a male body at this stage. If it's any consolation, Jake is cheap (around L$1500 I think). -------------------------- Shapes - when you buy a head, it includes shapes with faces on these shapes that are made to fit the head. The body is irrelevant for these shapes. The opposite is true when you buy a body; the body part of the shape is important, the face is irrelevant. The trouble is, you can't wear two shapes at once, so you can't wear the face shape from your head pack with the body shape from your mesh body pack. What you'l need to do is combine them manually. Start with the shape from your body kit. Go into Edit Shape and look at the sliders. Ignore everything above the neck, and just focus on the body, torso and legs tabs. Use the sliders to get those looking just the way you want with your chosen body. THEN WRITE DOWN ALL THESE NUMBERS. Next, switch to the shape that comes with your mesh head. Refer back to the list that you wrote down, and transfer all these numbers manually into the body, torso and legs tabs of the new shape (just type them in - there is a way to import and export them, but honestly it is way too complicated for this purpose and it's seriously much quicker to just write down the list and type them into the shape editor one at a time). Then you can carry on adjusting the face shape sliders until it looks right. What you'll have in the end is your very own custom shape that's tailor made to suit your combination of head and body. You can in theory do it the other way round, get the face fixed up first, but that's twice as many tabs to write down and type in, so I recommend doing it body-first and head second.
  21. It sounds like your AO does not have bento hand animations. If your body has them built into the hud (eg Maitreya, Legacy, Reborn) make sure you have the animations switched on. If your body doesn't have them (Belleza, maybe some of the cheaper ones), you need to either get an AO with bento animations included, or get a separate hand animator that you can wear in addition to your main AO.
  22. Isnt the Stilts regions already the "1000 islands"? Victorians would be French Vinaigrette. Trads would be plain Mayonnaise. Newbrookes would be Wholefood certified-organic vegan pesto with extra-virgin olive oil Sakuras would be Teriyaki dressing Chalets would be sauerkraut. 😁
  23. Magika has a lot of the very old styles all boxed up in a single package, in the mainstore, it might be in there. For suits, I found that the best option with Maitreya + Vtech was simply to wear a mens suit, in whichever size was slimmest, and alpha out the whole body except for neck and hands. Slink male and Signature Geralt used to be the best fit but with those gone now, I suspect Legacy, or CZ Slim if you can find anything in that size, would look the best. If you have long rigged mesh hair, you'll need to switch to a mens rig to fit with the suit, or else it will all be buried in the back. That glittery Graham Norton suit I'm wearing up there is in Slink size on Maitreya. I had to dial down my torso muscles and body fat a LOT. What's much harder is finding a mens-style suit or tuxedo rigged for a female body with breasts.
  24. This, except I would recommend Belleza Freya rather than Lara. Lara is a bit too slim for the purpose but Freya can get a bit more chunky, as abley demonstrated here by my alt. Note that the new Belleza Gen-X bodies will not work for this purpose; the arms are MUCH too skinny. The problem with Sking, is you'll end up with nothing to wear except BOM layers and maybe one bikini.
  25. I think I need an intervention. So help me, I just bought the Legacy body. I think I have them all now. 🤣 Discovered that by using the clothing fit deformer, the mod for my arm actually fits. Well, almost - there's a bit of a mismatch around the shoulder but it's much better than I even hoped for. And it'll be nice being able to wear outfits that don't have a Reborn size, without having to wear Lara, which I really don't like any more.
