  1. Actually, I feel that it already is. SL in particular seems to be the place where people who passed 40 can look and feel they were still 21, without the burden of (most of) their RL physical limitations which inevitably start to kick in around 40/50. I, myself, am 49 and I am nowhere near the oldest in my circle of friends (I'm not the youngest either). I have started to notice that when people reveal their RL age, it is more and more often an age over 60, and that's not even the oldest I have come across. Recently an 89-year-old resident (I didn't know her) passed away, and I was struck with how people described her as being passionate about SL. So yeah, I know that there are many middle-aged and elderly people on SL, I just don't know how many. It could be interesting to find out. Minecraft is not quite the kind of game where people like to live in homes, built by someone else. SL is much more suited for that 🙂
  2. Look into ABV (Appliers By Valarie). You can find her on the MP. There's also an inworld store.
  3. It would also effectively ban lower incomes from SL.
  4. Thanks., that was posted mere minutes ago, so I hadn't seen it yet.
  5. File a support ticket, that's all you can do. And for future reference, groups with only one person in it will automatically be deleted after 48 hours. So next time, make sure to bring your alts (if you have any) into the group, should there be a next time.
  6. What is your source? A link would be nice.
  7. I think that LL expects that people who "graduate" from the Bellisseria starter homes (because that's still what they are) will have such a desire for community instilled in them, as well as learned how to be a community, that once they move on from their starter homes, this will spill over to mainland, leading to a more community-driven Second Life. I have to admit that as much as this sounds like that would be great for SL, I am too much of a skeptic to think that this is actually is going to happen.
  8. Because you're not using the other viewers!
  9. That's not how it works. When you abandon a home it goes back into the pool and then it's simply first come, first serve.
  10. You may want to remove the name of the store and of the avatar. Naming either of them makes the store easy to find, which means you are inadvertently advertising their store for them, and I don't think you mean to do that. Plus, naming and shaming is not allowed here either, so regardless of your intentions, please edit your post and remove the name of the store and of the user.
  11. What it reminds me of is small cabins for the more outdoorsy types. A great kind of home for those that have one or more (rideable) horses and would like to keep them rezzed on their parcel, or those that like to spend more time in their front yard than indoors. People that like to live in a perpetual front yard picnic. I have known some of those kinds of people and I am fairly certain that there are lots of them on SL as well. It's not my cup of tea, but then again, my houseboat may not be their cup of tea 🙂
  12. I forgot when the SL16B event starts and I am too lazy to look it up right now. Is anyone prepared to come to the aid of my lazy butt and reveal to me when it opens?
  13. I made the switch to Ubuntu back in 2006, tried various variants of the 'buntu family, like Xubuntu and Lubuntu and finally landed on Kubuntu. I forgot what year it was, but the KDE3 was still current. I am exclusively running Kubuntu 19.04 (Disco Dingo), will be changing to 19.10 (Eoan Ermine) when it goes alpha, but I plan on changing to KDE Neon on the next LTS, which IIRC should be 20.04.
  14. I went there when those regions were new, waaaay back when. I also went back sometime before Belliseria opened and on both occasions, I was less than impressed. That very first time I didn't even think they were worth premium, even though the buildings were right up to par for the state of SL at time. The second time I had a look I was bored out of my skull, there are very few unique features in the landscaping, everything feels rather flat (textures, the land, etc) I would not have enjoyed living there. Belliseria is much, very much different, but it takes a visit to the old Linden Homes regions to actually understand HOW different it is. So I can recommend it. To get to one of the old Linden Home areas, I would personally start at the (premium) Sandbox Artifex then fly north or east. Or TP to Kellek where three home styles meet and explore from there.
  15. No need to say anything more! We will finally find out if the "trailerpark" in SL16B Spellbound is really a trailer park or something else, like, I don't know, hollow tree trunks? 🙂
  16. That continent is called Bellisseria. You may have come across the name a few times.
  17. I would even go as far as to say that it's been there for months!
  18. I too am active in OpenSim, been so for nearly a decade. However, even though OpenSim and SL are quite similar, the LL servers have features that OpenSim does not have and vice versa. Moreover, you can load an OAR and merge its contents with the existing region (load oar -m /path/to/your.oar) resulting in a combination of the two regions. Only a Linden Lab employee with the powers to move and copy regions can tell us what would happen if they copied a region over, if it would be merged, replaced, or perhaps something else.
  19. I was that someone but changed my mind since. I went to that region and there are people already living in the homes from the first release (as is to be expected). For completely uninhabited regions, I expect the moles to construct the regions on the SSP continent, then copy the region over once it's done. But SSPE71 already has residents living in the homes from the first release and copying over an entire region on top of what's already there could cause all sorts of problems for them. I don't know for certain what would happen, it could be anything from a mild annoyance, like simply resetting the parcel ownership back to Governor Linden, to completely erasing all the objects already in the region and replacing it with the contents of the region that is copied over which would cause the current residents to lose all they have rezzed (if any of it is no copy), like when you copy one file on top of another after you have changed the first file, you would lose your changes too. So I now think that it's not so much an experiment, as it is something done out of consideration for the residents of that region. I don't expect this to happen in regions without residents so let's enjoy being able to witness the building process while we can.
  20. Touch it, it talks to you!
  21. I wonder if this is an experiment to see if we will let them build in peace on Belliseria, instead of doing all the building on the SSP continent before moving it to its final spot on Belliseria. If it is, and if it works well for residents and Moles alike, then it will be fun and fascinating to see how all these regions develop.
  22. How is the Belliseria Citizens group not good enough?
