  1. That would be true for the Meauxle Bureaux (pronounced as Mole Bureau, for those who don't speak French 🙂 ) https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Meauxle Bureaux/121/133?q=Meauxle+Bureaux&s=Places
  2. I know, and we love to guess, so we all win 😉
  3. I keep thinking that XT stands for eXTended, but what kind of an extension that may be is anybody's guess. Perhaps it's the location where the Moles develop their new builds? A location for Quartz Mole to do their scripting? A well-developed region, covered by a massive 256x256 platform to hide its contents from prying eyes (OUR eyes) so as not to spoil the surprise?
  4. I don't see why not. IIf you have the system, you can rez it on the parcel that you live on.
  5. I actually did that once on a male (system) avatar. I named the resulting avie "the Ultimate Man". No pics, you get to try and see it for yourself. 🙂 Tip: Make it so that the avie is hidden whilst you adjust the sliders. Makes the reveal all the more exciting! 😄
  6. Why would we harass you for mentioning a competitor, we all know SL is best 😉 Seriously though, if your work stands out from the competition, there is still a good buck to be made. However, an important key to SL success is the same as RL success; marketing. I have found that, even with the most excellent and unique products, failure is almost guaranteed without marketing. Partake in and sponsor events, give out demos and cool freebies, have your products photographed professionally, get bloggers to notice you with special perks and freebies. Those are the tricks I know, but because I can't afford most of them, none of my products ever made a splash...
  7. Are you kidding? That viewer has been discontinued for years and years! Also, which version of OpenSim are you using?
  8. When I responded yesterday, I didn't realize that the question was about DISPLAY NAMES. For years upon years, I refused to set a display name, my name was Fritigern Gothly and that was it. That is until I decided to have some fun and use "Nonaya B. Zwax" as a display name (pronounce that name a few times, and you will get it 🙂 ) Nowadays my display name is "Payne N. Uranus" (again, say it and you will get it 🙂 ) but I am considering changing it again so something else funny. Note that I let people choose whether to call me Fritigern/Friti or Payne (or whichever display name I use at the time).
  9. Forget about the big square, have you noticed the small green and red dots near the center of each region? My theory is that it signals which regions are considered completed and which ones are not ready yet.
  10. I like to write down the candidates in a notecard, and sometimes I take LMs to the exact location of each vendor and put that in the notecard as well. I usually use area search instead of taking LMs to locate the vendors though.
  11. When I signed up, I was given a list of last names that I could choose from. Much to my delight, one of the last names that I could choose from was Gothly. Not long before, I had watched a documentary on the Thervingian Gothic leader Fritigern and chose to go with that name, even though the historical figure was male. 🙂
  12. Surprise, it's fixed!!!! https://status.secondlifegrid.net/incidents/p7rs0mn7p058
  13. Wrong wrong, oh so wrong. OpenSim was created to offer similar functionality to SL, years after SL opened its doors. No LL employees, former or present, were involved in creating OpenSim and LL does not use OpenSim, I don;t even know where you got the notion that they do.
  14. I would, as soon as they provide Linux builds of their viewer again.
  15. Dunno if the LL viewer supports them, (i think it does) but perhaps you should switch back to classic profiles. At least for the time being.
  16. Soon is when it's done. There is activity there, so it's not like they are taking a sabbatical.
  17. The script uses llName2Key() which takes Firstname Lastname, or firstname.lastname, if no last name is given, then the last name of Resident is assumed. This is as flexible as it gets. And yes, this DOES secretly convert the name to a UUID, it does exactly as you say it should work.
  18. I have RLVa routinely turned on, and I use FS in Phoenix mode (the only mode which makes sense to me) and occasionally, RLVa simply fails to activate. How do I know? I have an attachment which I scripted myself which depends on RLVa and which will let me know if it successfully detected RLVa or not. A quick relog always rectifies the issue.
  19. Let's see what the panel says.... Enter the LOGIN name, NOT the display name. My login (or user) name is Fritigern Gothly, alternatively displayed as fritigern.gothly. The system will accept either. Now, if your friend's user name is ABC123, then you can enter that name as ABC123, abc123, or abc123.resident it doesn't matter. Just don't enter .: Fairie Princess :. or whatever they have as their display name. As for the dot, depending on how Quartz Mole wrote the script, it might omit the dot on the "legacy" names but include it on the resident names. That makes no difference to the functionality of the script because in the end it uses UUIDs to perform its magic. Take it from a scripter.
  20. Since it's a SL Pic of the Day, why don't you link directly to the post in question? There, now you have an image title, as well as a name of who took the pic. Now you can contact the photographer and ask them yourself.
  21. Drake, I know you like to pretend that you know everything, but you may want to look into the actual meaning of the word Senpai and, directly related, the word Kōhai. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senpai_and_kōhai and if you don't like Wikipedia, I can find more sources for you.
  22. About people having to file tickets to get their mailbox/life preserver scripts reset, you can reset them yourself now. See this post by Patch Linden which covers 2 things, the issue with "Resident" as last name not being able to be added to access lists, AND the ability to reset your mailbox/life preserver scripts.
  23. Right around the corner? Relatively speaking, yes. However, there's still a LOT to do. Assuming that the life preservers (houseboat equivalent of the mailboxes) don't require QA testing, there's still a lot to do, most notably put in walkways, parks, trees, plants, and other such public features. These all must be carefully planned and placed to make sure the Moles don't use too much Li. And these features don't only go above water, but also underwater so that divers, mermaids, and other underwater explorers have something fun to discover, like in Hibiki where you can find sunken boats, surfboards, lobster traps, and other fun stuff. Even a complete sunken boathouse. (Go check it out!) This could take anywhere from a week to over a month, although our industrious Moles appear to get faster all the time as they get more experienced decorating and building Belliseria, so who knows how long this will take. This is a large area we are talking about (5x8=40 regions) and there are only so many Moles available. Plus, there are more projects going on than just the current Houseboat/Townhouse crisis. There are Moles busy designing, building and finetuning the other themes that we were promised. Scripts are being written, textures created, and I even think that entire neighborhoods are being designed from scratch. Some of these Moles only appear to provide the original content that other Moles place in-world so that too lowers the number of Moles that will be available to put the stuff in the Squishy Pickle. I'm sorry, I did not mean to rant like this, but as I was writing I started to realize "oh, there's this and oh, there must also be that" etc. This was more of my personal thought process than a lecture, even if it appears that way. So please don't take it as me lecturing you, it was not intended to be that way.
