  1. Today I responded to a scripting question for the first time in this forum and was rather shocked to find that there is no syntax highlighting for LSL installed. The best that we can do is apply the highlighting for one of the other languages, but I would expect LSL highlighting to be an absolute must on official SL forums. Below, I used the highlighting for CSS, but that's far from ideal, of course. I would be interested to find out how come we don't have LSL highlighting and basically have to make do. default { state_entry() { llOwnerSay("Foo"); } }
  2. Hm, didn't think of mentioning that, because the way I've read the post was that she was asking about upcoming stuff. Re-reading it, it doesn't seem like she is asking for future stuffs, so my bad. LOL
  3. Did you consider the following ? integer level; default { state_entry() { if(level > 50 && level < 100) // If level is larger than 50 AND level is 99 or less... { //allow command } } } You don't need an else-condition, unless you want it to say something like "Not allowed" or so.
  4. I saw you as I was helping my friend set up her new houseboat. Your boat is in a neighboring region but you really should have received a boat here: https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/updock/128/128

  12. Latest update from our beloved Patch:
  13. Something else to look out for is Bakes on Mesh (BoM), which - if I understand correctly - will let you use not only appliers on mesh bodies, but will even let you use your old system layers on your mesh body without too much hassle. And of course, if you look up to the SL night sky, you see black stars or, if you don't/can't use Ultra graphics, the stars will just be larger than they used to be. This is the result of the Environment Enhancement Project (EEP) which, remarkably, was rolled out before the EEP viewer was ready (it is still in Beta). Once the EEP viewer comes out of Beta, the features will be integrated with the regular viewer, at which time you will be able to save and transfer/trade Windlight settings between avatars. Enjoy the following two videos. More can be found on Youtube if you want.
  14. I kinda hope that once SSP350 is ready, it will get the name Loch Ness and that Nessie will find a home there in one form or another. I would be perfect.
  15. If you have read this as you said you have, you will know all that we know. https://status.secondlifegrid.net/incidents/lr0p2wy33qh8
  16. Why not? That's would be the best time to get a hold of a new houseboat, since everyone else would be too busy watching how Jon Snow, Daenerys and a bunch of other people will be trying to kill each other
  17. I would say after the weekend, at the soonest. Fingers crossed and hope I am right!
  18. Kubuntu + FS user here, what kind of balls are you talking about?
  19. This is planned, but no ETA yet. https://modemworld.me/2019/01/10/linden-lab-confirm-second-life-ios-client-in-the-making/
  20. That's cute, you think both run the same hardware?
  21. Apples and oranges because of different technologies.
  22. There is no way to circumvent this permission request. However, many people see a button that they can click and click it without reading anything. And they are especially likely to ignore warnings when they somehow think that it's just how the (fake) gift card works, or if it is the way to get money from store XYZ. No, there is no way a password can be retrieved using an object, scripted or not. However, what *does* work is "hey, gullible user, give me your password so I can go into sim XYZ and get money and I will share that with you!" or "go to this link, which looks like an MP link but is really a fake MP site which asks you for your password and keeps claiming it's wrong until you give up, but secretly stores your password so they can later plunder your account or use it for griefing." (Yeah, I know that you know what phishing is, but some readers might not.) This is mostly nonsense. If you are the only user of the computer that you use to access SL., then there is no way a 3rd party can retrieve your password, other than just plain guesswork. Just don't save the password in your viewer if the computer is being used by other people as well, think of a family PC, a library computer, a school computer, or a computer in your apartment complex' community room. You wouldn't save your Facebook password in a browser on a public PC either, right? Technically, yes. But why would they? All they can learn from that is the general area that you connect to the internet from, there is no way to gain any more information than just that. The tool used to find this information is called traceroute. See https://kb.intermedia.net/article/682 for an explanation on how to use traceroute in Windows and Mac. You can use my IP to test this traceroute with, which is 98.247.90.110, see if you can find out where I live. So, in short, there is nothing to worry about. Just don't click buttons without reading first, don't accept random gift cards from total strangers. Being able to see your IP address is harmless and you are fine saving your password in your viewer (it's being stored encrypted anyway). Hope this helps a bit. If you have other questions, just ask away.
  23. Philip has always been a dreamer. That trait worked well when he was working on the Sims, but later, on SL he harbored unrealistic expectations of how people would use the platform and what kind of dwellings people would choose to inhabit but that did not get in the way of SL's growth and development... much. Then on HiFidelity, he decided that everyone was going to own a VR headset (the same mistake which Sansar is making, only Sansar does it to a lesser extent) and that VR is the next big thing. System requirements for VR are still way too high for most users, only a handful of people own systems that can run VR the way it is supposed to and even if the requirements become within the reach of average Joe, it will hardly be considered more than just a novelty, a toy to play around with, but soon to be cast aside in favor of tried and tested non-VR interfaces. Because that's what people, in general, are used to and what people are comfortable with. No matter how much Philip wishes VR would be adopted for education and whatnot.
