The thread is a little old, but I'll still leave this here. I have been in my Linden Home for over four years now. For most of my time I would have frame rates of close to and over 100fps. But now its not uncommon to have a frame rate of 20 to 40fps. Almost nothing has change, same PC, same Linden Home, same avatar, the one thing that did change is that we got a new provider, doubled our internet speed. At that time my frame rate was still very good, but lately, several months, don't really know, my frame rate has dropped. I now have a mesh avatar including a mesh head, but if I switch back to my Classic avatar it only effects my frame rate slightly. I personally think its the server code, but like they say, IMHO.

I never thought about being able to change it, but I found on the Black Dragon web page under FAQ's how to remap keys for moving. That worked well. I have read before that you either love or hate his viewers, now that walking is easier I am falling to the love side of the fence. His viewer before Black Dragon was my goto viewer, but I have had trouble getting a handle on Black Dragon. But I think its time to spend some time with it. Thanks for the help

I just installed the viewer and that's it, I kinda don't know anything abut windlight.

Not sure where to put this but its a little techie, kind of, so I put it here. In the past I used a viewer that made SL look good but its no longer being made, what it morphed(?) into I can't use, LOL I can't even walk. But because it did so much for making SL just look good I gave the new version a try, again. And my test, its about the neck seam between a mesh body and a mesh head, and in this viewer its gone, just not there, a hint maybe if you hurt your eyes looking, but still, its gone. Wish I could walk and use Black Dragon because just for having the neck sear disappear would lock me into it, but I just can't get the hang of it.

Bolding by me. This is more to the point, it was not easy but it was doable for the most part. You did not need to ask, what avatar is that for, there was only one. And work to make things fit, lots in many cases, but you could move things, and that can't be done with mesh clothes, a really big difference. Was the past better, NO, but you had a fighting chance to make things fit, and for me that was part of the fun. No doubt about it, mesh is pretty, but still, very dysfunctional, with 50 (?) different bodies needing 50 different sizes you don't stand a chance of, oh pretty, buy it. Would I like to see the past come back, over my cold dead body!

Talligurl: Yes its a major brand and not like some that are not reviewed on mesh addicts web pate, it has good reviews and is fairly well used. angeoco: You understand the concept but your missing my point. Yes mesh is better, clothing and avatars, and yes I have gone to both, but still sooooooo disappointing and dysfunctional. Marianne: My shoe collection was one thing that controlled my mesh avatar selection and is in fact one of my biggest expenses, now and before mesh.

To sum up my shopping experience in Second Life it goes something like this: Then: (before mesh avatar) Oh pretty, buy it. That's cute, buy it. Wow, pretty colors, buy it. Now: (mesh avatar) Oh pretty, doesn’t fit my avatar. That's cute, doesn’t fit my avatar. Wow, pretty colors, doesn’t fit my avatar. Mesh avatars are pretty but what a pain, and disappointment, emphasis on disappointment.

Thanks for taking time to respond. My LOD is 2.5, my bandwidth is a moving target, recently going from 500 to 1000 and now to 800, but its all about the same in what I see. My draw distance will change depending on where I am but normal is 72 or 96. The viewers I use are Kokua, Alchemy and Linden Lab viewer, all are the latest by each. I had another thread about things being bleary in general, Things are Bleary - May 9, and that helped some, but seeing things far away but not up close just makes SL difficult. I am thinking its could be by design to keep people shopping on the Marketplace and not in world, if so, its working.

I live in a Linden Home, and I like it. And this problem is not restricted to my home, its every place, how do I turn it off or turn it around? I log on and I am at home, I look out the window and watch the other houses rez, I can read the numbers over the doors, without caming!!, but things in my house are still blurry. How do I tell SL to rez things close to me and then worry about things that are 60 or more meters away, that I will never interact with! This is most madding in shops as I see the shop but can't see ad boards to buy something, that's counterproductive! How do I tell SL to show me the things around me and then worry about things I truly don't care about.

Thanks for the reply, the shorts like most things in SL are no modify. Depending on what I hear back from the creator I will send her a cut-n-paste from this thread and ask that she please fix the shorts, if not for me for others that purchase her items. If not fixed my review will not be good, and no I'm not going to threaten her, it will just happen. I can only assume that all her shorts have the same problem, but one pair is enough to stop me from purchasing any more shorts from her.

I am wondering if someone can help me understand what is happening with some pants I purchased. I got a demo and the fit is perfect so I bought a pair of shorts and a pair of long pants. The long pants are beautiful and the fit for my eBODY Classic is good, I see no problem with them at all. But the shorts leave my legs encased in a clear cocoon that shows up when there are any alphas behind me, and that is most of the time for me. I don't see this with other Mesh clothing and was wondering if someone can tell me what is going on, what is this, is a new setting needed in my viewer? My LOD is high. The shorts really look odd, and its too bad because the texture is nice and the fit is good, other than the cocoon thing the shorts look very nice. If there is no remade for this my new shorts are destined for the trash heap. Thanks for any enlightenment you can give me on this. I sent a note card to the creator but from everything I see in her note cards and her profile, English is not her first language so I'm not sure what I will get back from her and thought the Forums could help me understand why I get the cocoon thing around my legs.

I have gone a completely different rout, every time I purchase something I take a screen shot of it. I have a directory on my computer I can look through and then use that to know what to search for in my inventory. I have only been doing it for about three years so it does not cover everything but its nice to look at photos of things to search my inventory.

Actually, the locker concept is use in some data centers, they call it Nearline storage. We tried it where I worked but it was difficult to get people to understand that it takes time to get files out of storage, even when a robot was doing the work. But the concept does work.

I don't know if she even exists, or why I would be asked this, but I have been asked numerous times if I am Teagan Linden. Its not like you can't see my name. Seeing this thread I thought I would ask, is there even a Teagan Linden? Unless I missed it I haven't seen the name listed here.

Why go mesh? Well it was not the intended reason but it appears to be saving me money. I have always browsed the Marketplace and seeing something cute getting it. Now that can't be done, does it fit my avatar body, most of the time, no. In the past I would browse and buy, now I brows and give up. And yes I know, search for your body to find clothing, what a chore, I give up looking quickly, and just don't buy anything, and save money. And all to often when something comes up searching for my body, when I look at the product, there is nothing for my body, its in the search line on the page but the creator does not sell it, that gets old really fast. I set aside a set amount every month for SL, I have never in the past said, wow look how much money I have for SL, kind of cool I guess.

But my thoughts are, yes definitely file one, if nothing else it is now on file. If in the future some other offense is AR'ed this will add to the fire. Turn on advanced lighting. Stays on. Set your draw distance to 96 meters (too small means textures might be lost) 96 normal setting, have been setting much lower to see if that would help, will keep at 96. Verify your antivirus is not scanning your cache I have added the cache to not be scanned. This could be part of problem. SSD? Run defrag so it's trimmed No SSD Not an SSD? Run defrag so it's not splattered all all over the disk Drive is only 3% fragmented, but will defrag later. Make sure your bandwidth slider is between 800K to 1200K (Less is generally more here) Was at 500, changed to 1000. Try using another viewer... if you are using the LL one, swap to Firestorm. If you are on Firestorm swap to the LL one Have never used Firestorm, using LL viewer for now. Most of the time use Kokua. Boards, and “every thing” appear to rez faster. Thank you, this appears to be helping, SL is never fast but never seeing some things is just to slow. This video card replaced a GTX 550 Ti and is a much better card. I did not have this problem with the GTX 550 card, and not at first with the new card. Things always change.

Yes, I use HUD's and then close them, not minimized.

Just ran some speed tests, 50.58 49.8 51 52.4 Mbps I don't keep HUD's open.

As the title says, things are bleary, ad boards some times never can be seen, appliers take forever to render or be un-bleary or become clear. I have a pair of Omega shorts I have only seen once, and that was on a premium sand box that was empty using the LL viewer, yes the viewer is up to date. I have used the LL viewer and two 3rd party viewers, all with the same results. I have tried setting my graphics from low to high, nothing helps. What setting am I missing? I have been using Similar feet for a long time, I also have feet by Vlad Blackburn but only the high feet, not sure about the other feet from Vlad. And I think there are more besides those, should be easy to search for. I believe Lucyshoes has feet that are compatible too, try a demo, but lots of ways to save money on feet.

If you look at the two of them side by side, to me, you would think the classic search would be the new updated better one. You get more information on your screen, you can easily see more of what is going on or offered. I mostly use search for live shows, it was nice to see 20 or more entries on the screen as apposed to 4 or 5 in the web search window. And now in some viewers the 'Events' is gone completely from the classic search, you can't search for Live Music, and that is what I would use it for. So I'm stuck with the Web waste.

What else is there to search with?
