  1. The “space” is an ASCII character just exactly like every other ASCII character. It would have taken very little coding to say in the sign up, one space allowed, not the first character and not the last character. Its still just one string of ASCII characters, just like the new sign up is, just one word, but it would look like first and last names and be used the same too.

If a person is wearing a really good skin, I can't tell the difference either. Otherwise I think there is quite a difference in the quality in how the bodies look. I can always tell when someone is wearing a mesh head. Almost all of them have a blank stare kind of look to them. I've seen one or two that were really beautiful. To me the rest look strange. Thank you for your reply. I value and appreciate your advice. Alphas are a necessity and yes I know about them, and yes the alpha HUD's are easy to use, very easy as a matter of fact. But for me that is not the problem, just can't get clothing to fit, alphas or not.
  3. I haven't bought a mesh body, still at the demo stage. And like you I can't find any clothing that I already have to fit the bodies I am testing. And I too have a large wardrobe that I can't afford to replace. I like the cleaner look of the mesh bodies, but I never go places that are clothing optional, so no one but me will see it any how, so it doesn't matter. I will keep looking at the demos but most likely stay with my classic body until the bitter end. And as a side note, most places I go there are 10 to 50 people there and I honestly can't tell the mesh bodies from the classic avatar, I've tried and just can't. Could be my computer or my settings, don't know, so I'm not in any rush to get a mesh body.
  4. I have attempted to go to the Hair Fair a number of times, always get the same thing, the sim is full. Never have been there.

I ask because you appear to be watching Bento. Everything in Bento will be completely invisible and it consists of additions to the old skeleton. The default avatar and anything currently released won't use the new bones and won't even know they're there. Existing content will act the same way it does now. So nothing changes except the possibilities introduced with Bento when new items are built to take advantage of it, thanks.

What people think they see and what they are seeing is often very different. There are some stores that just card everyone, it may not be the law but store rules. That way there is no question if someone was old enough or not, everyone is carded. Helps keep the store out of trouble. Also to OP, I have never seen any of the avatars in question. Maybe you need to pay more attention to where you go if you don't like it.
  8. My avatar is 5' 2” without heels. For a long time I was always the shortest one around, but I have been seeing a lot more females that are close to my size, and some shorter. I never expected some of the giants I see around. I see people and expect them to be people sized, but like others have said, be what ever your comfortable with. And if SL has nothing to do with RL size, they would not have used feet and meters as measurement units. It was “years” before I ever heard anyone say the SL size has nothing to do with RL size.
  9. I have never seen an avatar with physics that look natural, to me. I tried using it and thought I had it set for very small amount of movement. Then at a dance I got an IM telling me my breasts were knocking people off the dance floor, exaggeration but I got the idea. I don't know, but I suspect region settings can effect the physics, (anyone?) at least it appeared that way when I was using it. I have seen physics for sale, try purchasing and see if that works any better, you may just need better settings.
  10. Pricy is because of the work involved to create it. Desirable is more personal, I have looked at a lot of them and have decided to pass. If you spend a lot of time without clothing then it could be a good move, but if your going to cover it with clothing, why go to the expense and trouble. Demo bodies I have tried I have not been able to get my head on without lines around my neck, I think its because of my old skin that there are no appliers for. So that is another thing to think about, new skin to go with the new body. And clothing may need to be purchased that is made only for the body you buy, another expense. If you have the money, and the time to fool with it, then it could be fun, but from what I have seen they are a lot of work with not enough return for the expense, but that could be just me, others think they are “the cats pajamas”.

I have never seen Gacha items on the MP before so I had to go and look. Now I know why I have never seen them, I always check the Copy box on the left under Permissions. Gatcha items from what I have seen in world are all No Copy so I would never see them on the MP. Try clicking the Copy box on the left and you won't see them any more.
  12. There was a time I would use the MP to find things and then go in world to buy them. But I have been dropped off in to many peoples houses where the store no longer exists. Also, on the MP I can enter maximum amount I am able to spend and get only items that I can afford. There is no reason for me to look at clothing that cost 300L when all I have to spend is 50L. I enter on the left side a low amount of 2 (keep out some of the demos) and a high amount of what I have to spend, could be 50L, could be 25L. That way all I see is the items I can actually purchase and not things that are over priced and out of my monetary range.
  13. I use events all the time, but I then click on live music. Its how I find where to go, has been working for me.
  14. Which clubs (and why) do you prefer? I don't pay much attention to clubs, I mostly follow performers, what ever club they sing at is the club I go to. But some clubs will have many performers that I like, and if I don't see anyone that I know in search, I may try a club that has what I think is the same taste in music that I do. Have found some really good singers that way. And some performers will tell you when other performers are in the audience, saying, you need to see so and so, they are really good. Alwin, I don't like seeing the same dance over and over, looks odd to see someone jumping around to a very slow song. I only buy dance animations that are copy modify, then I can prefix the animation in my dance folder with DS for dance slow, or DM for dance medium, etc. I attempt to match my dance with the music being played, don't always, lol, but I try, for me its more fun that way.
  15. I have found that most of the time all I need to do is start to modify my shape, I have also seen that when I am a cloud I do not have a shape on or listed as being worn.
  16. I've looked at dance HUD's but find them confusing. I double click on a dance and then play it, if I can't do that then I leave, I don't know it that has to do with allowing scripts or not. I don't use couples dances or dance pads, I'm mostly interested in the music. And a lot of the lag at clubs is from all the junk they are showing off. And there is nothing worse than a wall of text in front of the stage, give me or look at me or what ever, if I could turn that off I would. I always tip the club and performer but my funds are very limited.
  17. Somewhat angry, but more frustration that anyone would think not calling it Fit Mesh when it is, is a viable option, sad at best. And yes, some stores don't know that what they are selling is not Standard Size but Fit Mesh, they only know what they have been told. But I think they are a minority.
  18. I think the bottom line is pretty simple really, when I am looking at clothing to buy, I am not interested in a politician that is busy crafting and twisting words to get me to purchase something I don't want and can't use. But we all know what is going on here, its the carrot to draw people in with a better product. If Standard Sizing (Size, what ever) is so bad, then distance your self from it and stop using it as the carrot before the bait and switch. And every creator that uses this tactic knows exactly what they are doing.
  19. Tazzie Tuque wrote: With all the different mesh bodies, and still the classic avatars, it is getting increasingly difficult to determine sizing period. If mesh makers have the proper weights for each mesh body they can do fit mesh almost perfectly for that body. I use pre made mesh templates for the outfits I texture simply because I do not have a 3Dmesh program that will export in the specific format LL requires. Perhaps one day but for now I have to use the templates. And they can vary a lot in sizing. As for fit mesh, I have an alt I use for modelling sometimes and any fit mesh I make she tests for me on a regular classic body. And so far I have not seen any problems with it. I ususally include 5 sizes of fit mesh and as I said I have not seen any problems. I stopped using the term "standard" sizing quite awhile ago.. Now I just say Sutable for Classic avatars and mesh bodies.. if it is fitmesh I state so and offer a free demo.. and that's it. The more complex the mesh thing gets the less able we are to state any specific sizing. (Bolding by me) Thank you very much Tazzie, that is exactly what I am asking for.
  20. Sassy Romano wrote: "Standard Size" has no definition thus anyone can call their own item standard size. You can call your items anything you like, but to refer to something that is defined, in this case Fit Mesh, by another name just to fool people into purchasing it, is underhanded, and makes you look unreliable.
  21. It took quite a while for the liquid or Fit Mesh to come out after mesh came out, its different enough that it took time to make it work as badly as it does. Fit Mesh clothing reacts to sliders, mesh clothing does not, and that is an absolutely enormous difference. And it is an enormous problem when trying to use fit mesh. But besides that, what I have said the problem is, is that people are calling Fit Mesh, Standard Size Mesh, and it absolutely is not the same. You just said they are different too, and that is my point. Don't call Fit Mesh, Standard Size Mesh, because its not the same.
  22. I have been getting numerous demos of clothing that say they are Standard Size when in fact they are Fit Mesh. Fit Mesh created to a Standard Size is still only Fit Mesh and fits the exact same way Fit Mesh fits the classic avatar, poorly. If you are selling Fit Mesh and calling it Standard Size, you are lying to people, its not Standard Size, its Fit Mesh, call it that. At least say, its Fit Mesh created to the Standard Size, because there is no relation between Fit Mesh and Standard Size, none at all, they do not fit the same and can not be adjusted for with sliders the same. Fit Mesh has a place, it works for mesh avatars “if” it is created for that avatar.
  23. saemantha wrote: Hi:) Ive checked everything as you suggest. I have the shoe base on which came with the shoes and I only have the slink high feet. Still have the gap:( But the DEMO worked for you, that's really strange. I tried the demo and decided not to buy them, could not get them to work for me. Been a while so I don't remember the exact problem. I went with a different brand and they work with the Second Life shoes sold by what I am guessing is hundreds of stores, and cost a lot less, and the feet fit and I can match my skin (that is very old). If your in the group ask there, that is where you will find help.
  24. I play around with the upper limit of what I see. But it depends on how bad some of the avatars are at the venue or where I am. If all I need to do is drop off those as high as 150k and over that is what I do. But my computer is not top of the line and I get frame rates of 4 or 5 all to often. Limiting seeing avatars that are over 100k or more will get my frame rate up to 30 or more, a big difference. Being able to move is well worth not seeing half the people at a concert. And OP, check your hair, I have found that is a big hit on complexity.
  25. My problem is that I can't tell a classic body from a mesh body when I am out and about, I just can't tell the difference. I guess if I camed in real close and inspected everyone, then maybe, but I'm not going to do that. I don't care. I have tried some demos but they leave me cold, can't get my head to fit without a line across my neck. And with the new Jelly Dolls feature I don't see a lot of avatars any how. I'll spend my money on clothes and shoes, lots of shoes, and leave the mesh body works to the rest of you, enjoy.
