  1. Well Patch reiterated today that everyone currently in a Linden Home will need to move as the sims will go away. You should have more choices of homes by then (he mentioned a year ish). You also have a HUGE area that you can add a "rumpus room" or "pool" or even add on to the existing houses with "great rooms". Folks have been talking about that here a lot. So your only choice === eventually == will be one of the new Linden Homes or buying mainland (or of course renting or giving up Premium altogether). But plenty of time until you have to decide.
  2. In order to get a good match you would need a skin applier FROM Aeros for the body you buy . You would need to keep your classic head unless an applier came out for Maxwell recently (I am doubting that :D). So best to get demos of the skins from the AEROS store and try them on the bodies you are thinking about. I can't remember which bodies Aeros designs for but assuming one of the tones matches Maxwell, that might be your deciding factor on which body to buy :D. Good luck.
  3. Some note's on Patch's talk at RFL Home Expo. "we are going out with our first two styles" - eventually there will be six to eight more styles -- some 512s and some 1024s also some more nautical themed abodes. Patch warned (encouraged?) folks to get their home quickly. There could be a possibility that people might give up their current home and not be able to get one of the new homes. They are currently one week PAST the original roll out date and SOOOON was used a few times by Patch :D. It sounded like while the HOUSES let you pick from the four styles as we know, the HOUSEBOATS are not "movable". So it "sounded to me" like they are like the current Linden homes and you may need to retry to get the houseboat you want. Those statement were confusing to me, but hopefully the website (which sounded like it was pretty much completed but perhaps not tested fully" (my interpretation) will be clear on that part of the process. The old homes will probably not be shut down until at least a year away -- at that time there will be a good ratio of different styles of homes for folks to pick from. The opening "will be announced when it happens" (in answer to a question about it being announced before :D.) The other parts of the hour were all about RFL and future plans. Something not in the Linden Home experience area and was news (to me) -- your friends list (mine is at about 20) as well as your GROUPS make a big impact when you are going into crowded areas (this in regards to the upcoming Fantasy Faire which is typically beyond laggy :D) Both the NUMBER of groups and the SIZE of the groups matter. Over a couple thousand gets problematic (Patch). CLEAN OUT YOUR CALLING CARDS too.
  4. What I meant was that the persons that SENT me messages that were capped told me LATER that they had sent them -- I just didn't receive them. Oddly, and this was years ago but on FS I had "IMs going to email" which I believed should have solved the problem with capping. It didn't. Again, LONG AGO (about four years) and just MY experience and may not have had anything to do with how it is supposed to work.
  5. Be sure and TEST WELL (I know you like to @animats ). For a long while a couple of years ago some folks couldn't get the product to work (like me) on a mainland parcel. I would try and try to accept the avsitter experience but it wouldn't take -- possibly because I was renting. Because of that I gave up on the idea since it seemed like it would cause a BUNCH of support problems. Of course if you are doing it only for yourself and have control, then hopefully it will work well. Just noting for others that there have been issues in the past.
  6. I have not seen or heard that voiced anywhere so I suspect that they will have the same "lottery" system as everyone else. Ebbe did say that eventually the old homes would go away and people still there would have the choice to move to the new homes or just move out. I am SURE they will be given plenty of notice and worst case scenario their furnishings would be returned to Lost and Found folder.
  7. I only had messages capped once LONG ago, but yes, there were apparently messaged that I never received. So unless that has been fixed, NOTECARDS ARE BETTER. :D. IF the seller was a "well-respected merchant as it says" and not a RESELLER then all sorts of things could have happened. Searching for an existing shop might be the best method. Another good reason NOT to buy without seeing a demo. ^^
  8. Well you need to listen to the video as I said to get your take on what was said. For me it seemed like "tier reduction" and that was mentioned over a year ago -- the further reduction as things switch from a land based economic model. But it could be something else also. We will have to wait and see.
  9. I suspect it will be very dependent on who moves in :D. Since The Lab stays out of community affairs for the most part it seems like folks themselves would need to build a community. Certainly simple enough to start a group if that is what you are interested in. There seem to be some big buildings that "could" work as meeting places --- this only from what we can see on the maps.
  10. I thought of that but any time recently people asked about names, the "answers" seemed to be more about issues that LL didn't realize would come up and making things work was harder than they expected. It has been VERY QUIET in both of those areas -- almost like they are no longer high on the top of the roadmap list (although the NAMES thing really does seem like it "has" to happen after all the hoopla . I haven't heard ANY mention on the tiered premium levels in a VERY long time. I certainly could have missed something so if so, someone fill me (us) in please. Typically secrets aren't kept all that well LOL. We will know soon though. It could also be that tier reduction (it has been over a year since the last one).
  11. The current Linden homes have areas that can be used for meetings and such. I am not sure they ARE. Meadowbrook (the area where the glytches were) had a big building like that and the other areas did too if I recall (it's been almost ten years since I did the tour when they opened). There are some community area looking places on the SSP map (and the actual home area). There are also some places that will not be finished now that "look" like they could be for something like a downtown but we have no info on that just guesses). If you go over to the Preview (I think tomorrow is the last day) you can find some congregation areas and they have been noted on this thread I think or the SSP thread. I took some photos and Blush did also. Primarily though it seems like they will be housing, not anything like a role play sim. Again, no official word on any of this that "I" have heard.
  12. And Ebbe echoed that in some form in this video. To be fair the video was made a couple of weeks before it aired so Ebbe was automatically a bit off on that date --- but SOON seems to be the theme. Edit: Some extra goodness stated in this video is the further readjustment of land costs (I am interpreting that as tier but not watching again in order to quote --- you guys can watch and decide for yourselves). The mention in this video was of several long term projects coming to fruition. I was guessing the new homes and EEP --- not sure what else may be on the agenda. And of course I may have guessed incorrectly.
  13. Just a historical note, both Bay City and the original Linden Homes had free texture packs for everyone on opening. I had them at one time. Didn't keep them obviously as I am not a hoarder in any reality. So perhaps they will just put out that sign with the textures examples on it (the one at the preview) and let folks pick up the textures if they want them -- when things open. Meanwhile I want to see those TRAILERS in the PARK
  14. You probably need to send in a ticket. There is a section in the choices for MARKETPLACE.
  15. I was wondering about that! :D. Glad you have lots of sleuthing time on your hands; I have been redoing my store and moving up to the ether to escape the new BREEDABLE enhanced framerates. All done. Whew. One or two weeks to go now. I know you are excited.
  16. Hard to tell what might be house or if there ARE any houses, but the street is "wandering" and darker dirt color and the trees are different so perhaps another new test are with different models. Maybe the trailers didn't go over too well. I kinda liked the idea :D. Looks pretty on the map although you are definitely INLAND.
  17. YES. VERY VERY BAD and super frustrating. I relogged more today and yesterday than in the last five years I think.
  18. Pick up all your furniture and decor items (important) then stand in the middle of your house and ABANDON it. You can then choose another house (five tries each day) until you find one you like. The new Linden Homes aren't available yet, in case that was your plan.
  19. I had to smile when I came back to this page and saw your comment back to be about "long drawn out process". While I am very happy you are a glass half full kinda gal (and I am too really) I think it is important to note that this thread, now with over 1000 comments was STARTED in AUGUST OF 2018. That ain't speedy in my book LOL -- and we aren't there yet. But I do agree it SEEMS like it is getting closer .
  20. I am not sure how relevant this is now as I haven't been paying attention to EEP lately. When the testing went live on the beta grid I asked about the different (four) levels that you could have on your parcel as I was very interested. The answer I got then was that it involved an EXPERIENCE and scripting with that (I have no clue how experiences work). Since I don't want to ask each and every person to join an experience at LEA6 I gave up on the idea of different skies for different levels. When I went back recently trying to find those early comments I had no luck at all so can't point to them. The EEP feedback thread would likely be the place to find out the current status of that four skies ability. I read the beginning comments of that thread as they scroll by but I haven't seen any mention. Again, haven't been paying much attention of late. Good luck .
  21. If you have more than ONE UV map (sometimes there are VERY legitimate reasons for this BTW) you need to make sure that you have the one you want to use selected when you export. Normally if you have your UVs messed up you will not be able to see the TEXTURE after baking in Blender. This in Cycles but I am pretty sure the same sort of thing applies in Blender Render. You cannot have ONE UVmap for part of the object (like the wood shelves) and another for the other part (s) (like the cement blocks.
  22. Well I am confused too and not much in favor of "solid black background" LOL. So here is my "entry" for the magazine. Had fun doing it anyway and that's what counts. Correct ratio - four times the size stated so should be clear enough :D.
  23. There seem to be some issues with SOME graphics cards so posting the specs of your computer exactly might be helpful. Not my area, but others may have some ideas. Also a screenshot of what you are SEEING (even if gray) would be helpful. What you have said so far isn't enough for people to advise.
  24. Good to know it has been an issue from the beginning. I couldn't remember. I am kind of more used to it than most as it was a BIG issue in Opensim with folks coming in from the hypergrid. No way around it there either. When I redo my shop sometime I will keep this in mind. Thanks. I think the Places Pages could be very useful and "I" would use them if more folks actually kept theirs up with info :D. Agree that they could have a big more polish.
