  1. Great to see Aquila posting those pretty explanations. The bottom line which no one is saying out loud but that you can find on Oh SO MANY threads here is that Sketchup is NOT a good program for SL. Aside from the physics issues there are other problems. So you (the OP) might want to do some research here on the forums before you commit hardily to Sketchup :D. Good luck with your building adventures and enjoy the journey!
  2. Agreed. BE SURE (everyone) AND CHECK YOUR LOW LI TREES ON LOD2 (or lower). There were a few that fell apart for me on my bike ride. My favorite is the RIORO one but it doesn't fit in all that well with the Linden trees. Also make sure you can turn off full bright (hopefully not so much of that happening but there were some BRIGHT fantasy trees around and they SO didn't work with the landscape. Hopefully they will be returned for "not fitting in"). DDD has some great things. I have some bushes that I use a lot and they come in clusters so are low LI for what you get. I am on SAND so they didn't work for my plot. I used some old no longer available pampas grass clumps which are sculpts but still very good looking. And yes that tree you showed fits in nicely in green areas. I saw quite a few of those as I meandered in the very early morning hours. There are also some VERY popular bushes that are similar. Probably the best way to "shop" is to wander around and see what your neighbors have and inspect for the maker LOL.
  3. Yes, I did too right after I posted and updated with that info (maybe further down in the thread, I don't remember). The gacha machine is at the store so there is that. The Looking Glass had some sunflowers from long ago -- not sure if they are still available) and "PLAAKA - Sunflower Round" (gacha) might be good to check for on the aftermarket. BUT while they are LOVELY, they are also PRIMMY ( so not for you personally unless you want a garden in the houseboat float (would be fun - there is actually a WHOLE huge greenhouse out on a lake in Canada I think that is made up of "floats" all tied together). Went by your house on my ride. You must have a sign out or something as I just noticed it was YOURS and wasn't looking for anyone LOL.
  4. If you pay yearly as you did and count in the "stipend" you get back each week, it figures out to a bit over a dollar per month. I think it is closer to $15 a year but there are many ways to calculate and the value of the linden dollar does fluctuate some. If you are a first time premium person I think you may still get a bonus after 45 days, but not sure if that is still going on -- so then it would be LESS than a dollar a month. Since we know that there will be houseboats soon (they are working on them in the SSP sims now) you can grab one of those if you are paying attention and are lucky. More houses in different styles are coming "soon" (best general - no official - guess is 2-3 months). So just keep watching the forums and other official Linden outlets (Town Halls and other videos) so that you will know when they first appear and get one.
  5. Two and a half hours in the late night and very early morning hours. A great ride and a great time. Full story on my blog. Sure you can find it if you want to :D. Honestly, I was SO IMPRESSED. This is where I quit last night, at what I "thought" was the halfway point. Not so much LOL.
  6. Yes, I am on my cross continent bike ride and took a photo too. SO CUTE!!!! and creative!!!!. I found another empty lot but it just looked like folks were going to build "soon" (as in sandy dirt LOL). So not so much fun. After about an hour with a few crashes at sim crossing I think I am about half way there. On the bridge over the inlet and will continue tomorrow. A very impressive ride!

Is it official (Patch) that more houseboats will be coming out soon, but the houses? The "best" educated guess that "I" have heard (not official) is maybe June's end. There is a TON of work that has to be done. It isn't just flipping a switch. So pay close attention so you don't miss out a second time. There are MANY folks waiting for the next batch.
  8. So can you tell me where the wheelbarrow came from and if it is "newish" (hence still available). I will probably just MAKE one but I certainly would like to take a look at what is out there and they seem hard to find. Thanks.
  9. LOL. It is a good seller but HOPEFULLY for folks with RANCHES and not the suburbs LOL. So funny. I got out my pack of {what next} rideable bikes just now. Oddly I have that "empty folder messed up file" thing going on (sigh) so I got the Linden viewer going and rezzed the box from there. That worked. So I am all set for an adventure tomorrow. Hoping to bike across to the other side of the continent where one friend lived. Will undoubtedly have some photos for the photo thread :D.
  10. I was busy looking up that truck and forgot the rest of your post. So far as rezzing props go -- I "THINK" that anything that attaches doesn't count as it is and attachment (hence ''read a book" animation). [See below] Anything that "appears" on the scene as an option most likely counts as land impact. Cheeky Pea had lots of those long ago; don't know about now. A few creators don't actually "add" props to an item but just show textures or make transparent. In that case turning on textures wouldn't change the land impact. Temp rezzers are against the rules and seldom used these days anyway as far as I know. They caused SO MANY problems, they were just BAAAAD. I think the front porch addition with the pillars, cement pad and widow's walk roof is 9. My carport without the fancy windows is 5 LI (glass or no glass). The ones with windows and windows and patio cement are 12. The many paned windows with hardware are high LOD so they upped things but the details are very nice so I am fine with that.
  11. You can always be "out shopping" LOL. I don't have a ROAD so a car isn't very realistic. But I do have a path and that works with a motorcycle (vespa style). I am a VERY bad driving but I am going to try and improve. Oh, Mesh India had a truck gacha with trucks that don't move (just props). They have good LODs (most cars do not unfortunately) and are only 13 - 14li. Might be on the aftermarket.
  12. Mailbox for the siding and bricks. The other textures I baked in Blender. Baking to MATCH is NOT EASY LOL. Especially since I likely use a different 3D software program.
  13. Actually I can't remember ever doing in promoting (over ten years as a creator). I have never had a store group (even for clothes or jewelry long ago). My only "ad" is in Places for 30 lindens a week and gives you a places page which most folks don't fill out but I did. I did a lot of events over the last couple of years so that is promotion but it doesn't cost anything - assuming you sell more than the fee :D. No I am only doing one and an occasional special event. So just keep learning and improving; I think that is the best plan for most folks --- at least those of us who are not marketers :D.
  14. My Winchester is styled for the moment - whew. Tons of "clutter" as in books and plants and kitchen stuff as well as a garden of raised beds, some beachy bushes and three add-on builds (front porch, covered patio and carport) a motorcycle, moving boxes outdoor porch seating etc and I STILL have 46 land impact left. Woot. I linked a few things together to save on LI and I have a few items that are "primmy" but are eye catching and so I am leaving them. Lots of homey things outside with a lived in look. I like empty spaces and I like "lived in clutter"; somehow they seem to coexist -- for me anyway. Feel free to come see. I am in Heathstone on the beach and the only beachfront house with add-ons and outside clutter at the moment. Happily last night my neighbor changed from Winchester to one of the small houses so it isn't ONLY a sim with the all same houses LOL. I have a lending library on the front porch and sometime soon it will give out books; on my list along with a wheelbarrow! So how are you guys doing with your "prim allotments" :D. ??????
  15. Mine were all blogger copies so I did some recon. The gacha with the sunflowers is at the landing point in the main store. It has the very pretty potted plants too, but of course you take a risk of getting furniture LOL. The TREE that I like is available at the main store on. There is very little on the Marketplace and virtually no aftermarket for the gachas (at least on the marketplace). So I will go REVISE my "tip" as it isn't going to do folks much good. Sorry.
  16. I went to your Marketplace store and saw a couple of "problems". Honestly the Marketplace is a big market and it is difficult for most folks to get to the top of the list. That being said. I didn't see that you had an inworld store (this from looking at a few listings anyway) so there is no way for folks to see your products and test the LODs and see the textures as they will be when rezzed. For many folks these days, that is a deal breaker. I don't buy if I can't see the product or try a demo (mostly wearables) and I don't expect others to either. Also most of your items are things that have been made previously by many other creators, so nothing really to make your products stand out. As many folks have said over the years, it is difficult to make a real life living in SL and many folks don't even break even :D. So the best outlook for those starting out is to enjoy the process and have fun and if you make some money, that's a bonus. Good luck.
  17. While I am happy with the change (I never use ban lines or orbs and have only banned a few people in over a decade -- and that was at MOSP and not my personal plots) I do agree that The Lab should have thought a bit further ahead on the security issues and foreseen the problem. They do sometimes still (getting better) miss the big picture and "living in world" points. Meanwhile folks seem to be visiting my house when I am not there or at least opening doors. I don't have a big problem with this. No sex furniture LOL so they can't do anything lewd. They COULD just learn how to cam better :D.
  18. A little note on TREES (and plants and other outside things ) for folks that have their LODs set at 4 :D. You might want to change your LOD settings temporarily down to at least 2 to see how a majority of folks will see your outdoor things from their viewpoints ------ this only if you CARE what your neighbors think :D. Some of them fall apart VERY quickly. Meanwhile, wanted to say that RIORO is a super brand for low land impact plants. I already posted my favorite tree somewhere (so many threads) but there are some great houseplants. Some are gachas so you could check the aftermarkets or of course the gachas are likely in the main store (?). Sunflowers 2 LI for two bunches. REVISED because Luna asked (see below). While these area available still in a gacha machine there is nothing on the Marketplace. Keep your eye out though if you are an aftermarket gacha person as all the plants are very nice.
  19. Morning in the garden looking towards the park.
  20. This isn't just to you but I am getting pretty tired of all the folks complaining that they didn't get theirs. The Lab KNEW (or certainly suspected) that the offerings would disappear quickly. Patched WARNED people (including telling them that if they gave up their current 512 house and there were no available new spots that they couldn't get their same 512 house back again). I mentioned that a few times for the folks that didn't take the time to watch his talks. Those of us on the SSP thread for the last nine months were WATCHING and WAITING and a good number of those folks got some of the first spots. EVERYONE HAD THE SAME CHANCE. People just needed to pay attention and watch for the announcement. I saw the news maybe 20 minutes after it came out BECAUSE like many others here on the forums I was paying attention. The Lab has done a spectacular with the new area and the folks working on it for almost a year have been doing just that --- WORKING. So let's be grateful that we have this lovely new area and stop shaking our fingers at the folks that gave it to us. REALLY!!!!!!
  21. To go along with this (thumbs up) , many of us on the SSP thread have been watching for around nine months. When you look at the organic nature of the new continent it is obvious that it took a LONG time to get that in place. I suggest you spend a LOT of time in the forums watching these next few weeks (this for everyone) or miss out again.
  22. Very soon. They are working on a new "atole" area over in the SSP region. Patch posted earlier today. BE SURE AND WATCH WHAT IS GOING ON if you expect to get one of the new additions when it they are released. No excuses now, be informed or miss out. (this isn't just to you but to ALL the folks complaining that they didn't get there (simply because they WEREN'T paying attention) :D. Good luck.
  23. Patch posted and it is the "soon to be" additional boat houses. Hopefully they will be out in the ocean a bit. I doubt that folks who picked "unobstructed view with no boats" would be very happy to find that the neighborhood had changed abruptly. I am pretty sure Patch gets that :D. Currently they are on the map below the SSP sims. It is an "atole" kind of place -- only boats.
  24. I am about done with my exterior add-ons and moving inside soon. I have added a sheltered patio outside the French doors in back, a carport to the side (same multi-purpose build) and the front porch that I made on day one. So my house looks a bit different than the other 500 Winchesters LOL. Lots of fun. I am going to take Sunday off and get on my bike (I have a super cool motorcycle from {what next} but I am NOT a good driver (more practice needed) and wander the roads. I am hoping to bike over to my friend's house on the other side of the continent. Tomorrow may be living room design or I may tackle upstairs (both undone at present).
