10 posts from 2015, then 15 (ok now 16) posts in 2019, everyone says they hate necro posts, but everyone flocks in like vultures when it happens.

Cuz the necro comments often have to be commented on.  You know that many of us around here just can't leave things without a response.  B|

I don’t hate necropostss. It is a sign that someone went to the supreme effort of using search. Also in this case it is probably not something that could be found in the KB.

Just gets a little weird when someone starts carry on a conversation with the departed.

Let them eat mud. No. Seriously. Helps them develop the antibodies.

Yep. There's a significant body of research suggesting that allergies, asthma and auto-immune disorders may be exacerbated by an insufficiently challenged childhood immune system. Industrialized urban societies have tried to eliminate as many pathogens from the environment as possible, giving children's growing immune systems nothing to practice on. In something akin to "an idle mind is the devil's workshop", the rambunctious immune system goes off and starts attacking harmless things, like the self.

I agree that LL needs to be vigilant about the empty box and and other scammers.  But:

Imagine the hundreds, if not thousands, of disputes of this kind that occur in SL. Imagine the time to investigate every single one of them, even the 1L ones.

How many LL staff would need to be added to handle all these cases? How would LL come up with the extra money to pay for them?

I know! They can charge us L$ or money for each time we rez a prim or write a note card or post a thread? they could even include package pre-pay options to further access the interface like some other platforms do 😀

Yes, but the problem with eating modern-day mud is that it contains a lot of stuff that the body cannot handle with the immune system, like heavy metals and PCBs.

Oh yes, particularly with modern water conserving irrigation, which doesn't provide the ground flushing benefits of a good soaking rain. But you don't have to eat a lot of environmental dirt to get the benefit of exposure to wee bugs. Just running around in prairies and woods gives your immune system a lot to work with.

I've been reading about "phytoremediation", in which genetically engineered plants take up hazardous pollutants like selenium. And that makes me wonder where they put the plants at the end of the growing season, and whether the gene modification might jump to crops intended for human consumption, thereby making a lovely vector to move selenium from mine runoff directly into... us.

Sounded for a minute like we could retire “mud-eater” as an insult, except for the toxins.  Only a..um..mud eater would eat modern mud!
